The haters say we (the anime fans/lovers) are basement dwellers who need to get a girlfriend and get outside more. They need to open their minds and stop being so elitist. They also think that if we love anime, we are somehow being "anti-American." Now I like living in this country, and no offense to the U.S. but it looks like Japan is doing better in several things, like economy and education. Styles have their flaws and strengths, but neither is objectively superior over the other; they are to entertain, not to accomplish a practical task in which there is a right or wrong approach. In short, the best solution to this "problem" is to simply not feed into further unrest and move on.

I'm kind of new to anime and I spent the summer watching some of great films; Spirited Away, Perfect Blue, Akira, Paprika and more. I find that people go into anime with a disposition to be negative toward it because of stereotypes of what "anime enthusiasts" are "suppose" to be like, that coupled with the fact that the best anime is never advertised to people who are unfamiliar with anime. So the first thing that comes to people's mind is: Pokemon, Dragon Ball Z, Naruto (no offense) then people are like "oh ya, I've seen anime, I didn't like it" (note the generalization). I.e. 90% of the problem is mass uneducation.

Walt Disney Animated Films have much more real feel to them then Animes
Just look at Beauty and the Beast,Sleeping Beauty etc
Cartoons ARENT Supposed to have a Real Feel to them
With Animation anything is possible and Surreal Stuff to watch is very cool
While most Animes try to be Realistic(Art Style Wise)

There are some with Good Storylines(Batman TAS,Ben 10(Original) comes to mind)
There are some which are just slapstick
Music is based on Opinion

Love anime, but I hate the stereotypical weeaboo. Im talking about the 300 pound girls that carry fruits basket manga at school. Other than Anime has over 9000 leverage on any other art form.
