CS gas is more of a mental thing than actual physical pain to most. it displaces the oxygen so you cant really breathe to well while you are in it. as long as you keep your mind focused then you will get thru it. but it does suck lol

@jipi0001 you will have to do it. Its required you do it once a year. Dont worry though, it really isnt that bad. just do the drill they teach you, and youll be fine. if you fail, they let you retry it that day.

@jipi0001 You do wear the entire suit, but they only time you on putting your gas mask on and putting the hood over top. it all has to be done in 15 seconds, but its pretty easy to do.

However it can all depend on who you get for an instructor. They may make you do it in 5 minutes, but the course staff i had let us take our time puuting on our suits while we had lunch

i've been maced before by cops. i know, cs gas is no doubt worse than mace, but i suppose the worst part can only be the eyes so i think i'll be able to withstand that much without issue.

my buddy says the gas targets moisture, and that its worse for women, of course it could just be a story to screw with recruits.

I remember the gas hut. It isn't that bad. You hear a lot of horror stories about it, but to be honest there's nothing to worry about. You go in, do a little PT, go out.

Then you go back in without your mask, put it on, do decontamination drills, and you're done.

I was in the first group to do it on my BMQ, we did three tests one after another. The decotamination drills was the only really brutal thing to do. Taking off the mask and wiping your face down with the sponge over and over was pretty bad but not bad enough to go running out.
