There are holes between the stainless steel top and the sides at the middle area. Adjustable nuts on the bolts move the top up or down to adjust the bridge height for string relief. It sounds goods and will post a vid of a violist playing it soon.

interesting looking design and you should consider experimenting with this for electric violins. Though the flexibilty of the top piece is integral ability for vbrations to travel throughout the instrument so that's resulted in the tinny sound. I'd be interested to hear the results of changing the backpiece instead, like banjo or guitar
