  • Bugs don't like flipping over

  • Genius

  • 3 wordz,"i want one" XD

  • Awesome.

  • this robot could actually save lifes

  • Before I got to see it running I thought "That looks retarded."

Then I saw it running on the ground. Creepy.

  • wonderful design. The mimesis form the sinsect its de correct way to creat de IA

  • This robot is now 20% cooler.

  • u can use the electronic from the picco-z helicopter

  • This guy is great, i met him in person and let me tell you that the second version of this robot is even more amazing. I love the CAL program they have. I hope i can be there in the future.

  • reminds me of a bug...

  • @MrNamegame It was designed from studying the movements of bugs -_-"

  • @DemonAMVs i meant the look of the bot. and yes, i know it was designed to move like a bug does. but i think it would be a cool design for a rc mud bug! that would be awesome, just ripping right through the mud, or if they make the whole thing extra strong, then get a crazy fast motor that makes it go nuts, it could probably run right across the top of a puddle. and just for safety, if you use it on the beach, they should have floats of some sort on it too! wouldn't those ideas be cool?

  • @MrNamegame Its a great design, though I don't think it would be great in the water turning wise, straight line is possible.

  • I am really impressed. Especially since I have about 1k invested in my hexapod. The feasability of this knows no bounds. Don't give up. Well done!

  • Reminds me from my hamster somehow...

  • imagine this thing of a mich larger size running down the street with a big gun on its back! Shiiit...

  • 1:57 it looks scared !

  • make it smaller and then it will look entirely like an insect

  • Novel idea of using flexure joints instead of bearings.

  • lol need hand man for turn at end of the movie

nothing more than a tracked vehicule f not long legs

  • Pretty impressive.

  • DASH is....the worlds first robotic cockroach.

  • This is an awesome way to get robots walking - I'd be interested in how it can scale up, payloads, and if that turning can be tightened.

  • All that time and money so man can do what? Invent the cockroach? Something seems wrong with that.

  • @TheMrBlinx ur kinda missing th bigger picture on thi one

  • its GTFO bot!!!

  • baterry? [2]

    good video :]

  • WILL THIS REPLACE THE COMMON COCKROACH?

  • that new construction method is awesome

  • haha Congratulations...you just made the most awesome cockroach ever

  • EWWW!! QUICK, SOMEBODY KILL IT!! o_O

  • Now mount a grenade or a mine to that thing and, WEEEH! Runaway!

  • Video très impressionante ; la réussite de ce robot est dans la matière première dans laquelle il est construit et la simplicité de son mécanisme.

  • Unfortunately, the voice recording isn't that good and no one noticed :(

  • this is amazing :) now it just needs to be moded to stick to surfaces and your set :D

  • battery?

  • can you make a tut??

  • but what if it lands upside down ?

  • oo my good, it was simply ausoom,

FUCKING KEEDING ME, IT IS A CUCURACH RATT

  • Simply awesome !

  • EPIC

  • You need roads for wheels

  • are you sure about that

  • dont be sure... when this gone, the wheeed wersion also go.

  • yep. its a useless thing.

  • @bigsmatchy I would like to see a wheeled bot survive those falls and scamper over objects, fun stuff!

  • Угарная вещ

  • put a cockroach skin on it and it wil be the perfect christmas gift for kids (and parents ^^')

  • this is one of the best robots i've seen.

    only 1 motor

    can survive falls

can climb obstacles higher than itself

    low manufacturing time

    low weight

    high top speed

  • great now we got robot roaches

  • I want one!

They could use small hair-like rubberized barbs on the feet to increase grip.

  • SWINE FLU U GONNA DIE!!!!

  • what the fuck. make a video don't comment. Terrible advertising.

  • So Berkeley made an artificial cockroach? I guess they want to keep their reputation as the most flakey university in America.

At least they weren't "communications" majors complaining how America ruined everything.

  • Its great for exploring a area

    or at hostages.

  • put some fins, and you got a water robot, wait is it water proof?

  • the pcb looked open to the elements but you can coat all the electric parts no problem. i was thinking the same thing because it kinda looked like a water bug. with the right technology it could run across the top of the water as long as it doesn't break the surface tension of the water.

  • one heck of a high school science project

    i kid i kid

    :)

  • yet another useless robot

...It can survive drops but can it survive my foot ? ;)

if i see one of these things, my first reaction will be to stomp it, i hate stuff being in the way of my walking path

  • 17-25 LMAO

it remind me the scary movie when the blackman says

    "run bitch ruuun " haha

    anyway very nC vid 5/5

  • coolest robot ever.

  • 生き物じゃないのに感じたこの異様な気持ち悪さはなんだろう?www

  • はい

  • круто)

  • Ooooh, I want it to by my little robo-insect-pet^^

  • Классно сделано

  • Awesome. I love the simplicity and the resiliance of the design. 5/5

  • very nice. i'm not that into robotics, but it's a clever construction. well done.

i just instantly see some chinese watching this video in slow-mo ... ^^

  • MrEdveen

    точно))

  • Let's hear it for the Cockroaches! This is such an elegant design - very well done indeed! I can see this being the basis for a really cool kit and a great platform for AI experimentation.

  • shit. we're all dead

  • very!!!!!!!1 :)))))))

  • Че он говорит? Непоняяятно =)

  • Great work! Will there be any kind of DASH kit for regular people? :)

  • @secoelho Yup - i want a kit. Again - scalability is my biggest note, could I start putting any kind of sensors on it without changing the dynamics too much?

  • Now that is really slick. I love the tech videos on here, especially when it is simplistic appearing stuff that is far from it.

  • Very nice. Keep up the good work guys. Looking forward to seeing the future of that little guy.

  • They should just give it a tale that it can use for turning. It can hold the tail in the air when it is not using it. Come guys this is so simple.

  • i concur.

might i take the liberty to suggest a death ray type device of some sort, in the tip of that tail?

  • Ridicul0usly broad spectrum of applications for military use, from explosives to sensors. Teach these things to scatter and swarm, give them a payload and the ability update mission on the fly remotely, and this could completely change, police work, art, warfare, etc. Set up little cameras and have them cruise the room at an art or music show, push the video to wall screens. Drop a few cluster bombs of these into the Afghan mountains with cameras and tiny grenades, they deploy and hunt...

  • Congratulations to humanity on creating a cockroach!

  • mobile landmines, nuff said

  • woooow that is awesome

  • How scalable is this? I want one thats ridable.

  • Way cool guys!!! Keep up the smarting research, design and implementation!

  • is that a robot doing the voice?

  • my kid would love one of these: bugbuddy

  • How long until they hook a cockroach nervous system into it and see what the cockroach would do with it? The roach Matrix is not far away!

  • The roach Matrix, not. Roach Surrogates.

  • good

  • lets build 1000 of them and let them run trough New Yourk, starting on a single rooftop.. that would be epic

  • @miganders lolz nice, that would be sweet!

  • @miganders Why just one really big to destroy everything? :D

  • @miganders not just 1000...1,000,002, muahahahaha

  • Impressive!

  • Great!

  • We will destroy ourselves before we get to, or during that point.

  • Very efficient but it needs some improvements.

  • they already do that with trained cocroaches with a mounted cam

  • i want to have it, do you know if it's avilable? And for wich price?

  • wow...that thing is very very durable

  • If the "feet" were a little more "grippy" wouldn't it be able to turn faster and climb better?

  • Most likely. Actual insects usually have tiny hairs all along their legs for gripping.

  • yes because everyone wants to know what you are doing...

  • great :)

  • The most fantastic robot I've ever seen for 20 years of robotics research.... The farewell reception ticket could have made thing a little bit better....

  • Just don't let Gene Simmons get his hands on one of these. lol

  • 1:35 it's not straight but its still cool.

  • This would make a really awesome kit. I want one!

  • Off the roof of a building-! Hahaha

  • This is NOT a simple robot.

  • the most awesome robots are often the small and simple ones. this one is a good example. amazing.

  • i want a little dash toy now...

  • i want that one :D

  • amazing

  • incredible!

    congratulations to the developers!

  • hehe it was funny when it tried to climb...awesome job though!!!

  • it was a joke :P

  • In like 100 years this robot will be placed on low speed xD no offense

  • omg

  • very nice job !

  • Very cool!
