@Skatereddeer Once they started playing the big shows they used Marshalls at first, then switched to Hiwatt. Pete actually went into Marshall's and told them exactly what he wanted, thus the Marshall stacks were born.  The protoytpe was only one piece and was big, bulky, and heavy, so they decided to make the seperate cabinets and speaker head.

@Skatereddeer They used Vox AC100s in 1965 and Vox Superbeatles on the US tour in 1967. They mostly used Marshalls and Fenders in the early days and switched to HiWatt in 1968. Throughout most of the 70s John used a SUNN bass rig.

Totally unfamiliar with The Who, I see. Do yourself a favor and do some homework. Rent "The Kids Are Alright", then get all their studio albums from 1964-1975. And get the whole CDs, not random singles here and there. There was a time, in a galaxy far away, when entire CDs were one single work of art. Pete Townshend pioneered this with A Quick One, Tommy and Quadrophenia.
