Actually to everyone who thinks this is a Congo your wrong ! This is a Timneh I know I have one right next to me.... You can tell by the horn colored upper mandable.
All of you that say it's a timneh are clearly on crack. Any grey can have a red tail. Congo's Timneh's. It doesn't matter you can clearly tell this is a congo grey. You can tell by the eye's clearly and the scuffles around it's neck. Any grey can have a red tail or a grey tail its completely normal. But thats not how you tell its a congo or not. And some of you are wrong about the timnehs talking. They mimic and the congo's repeat everything you say. Get your facts straight.
This bird knows what he wants and asks for these things specifically. I'll be glad if I can teach my CAG to tell me what she wants in a way I can understand. So cute when they ask for things.
I lost my Congo grey a few months back at 1year old!!!!!! Dont know what was the true cause although there is much speculation ...Lovely bird you have there, im getting a timneh is 2weeks time x
I think he wants to chew on a piece of wood. Try giving him a *wooden* chopstick -- those you might get at your typical local Chinese restaurant (make sure it's wood, and not bamboo.) I buy lots of these for our CAGs to chew on.
We don't really know. We found him at the bottom of his cage in the morning. He was obviously dying. We called a vet, but he only lasted 45 minutes. In retrospect we realized that he had been quieter the two weeks previous, but that's all. I decided against a necropsy. Birds hide it very well when they're sick. It's to their detrement when they're domestic - maybe we could have done something for him. Thanks for your sympaties.
@cybersuebee wow then you really didn't take care of it their suppost to live up to 60 years. If you dont know how to take care of one then dont buy one. im sorry proven fact.
I have been studying 3D0Bot for nearly 19 years and i have determined that he has devoted his entire life to ANNOY THE FUCK OUT OF THE REST OF US!!! LONG LIVE MOON -MAN!!!
Thats awsome! My parents have a congo but didnt teach it how to speak correctly. I talks, but mimmics sounds more often.
I think this VID is one of the cutest I have seen! I also like the cockateel that got scared away by the parrot. We have 2 of them and I woulnt put them near the grey... I think my parents just didnt teach them correctly.
Nice Vid, I wish my birds interacted like this :-)
My Grey is so mean to my dog. He says: "Sarahhh. Come here, Sarah" until my retriever goes over to the cage, and then my Grey leans down and bites her on the nose and cackles about it.
Dude, it's a BIRD. Do you know how a bird eventually speaks? By mocking, duh. Before we had a little thing called "delivery," we used birds to transport messages far over seas BY mocking. And by the way, the bird is simply replying by memory, not request. So, get over yourself.
Hey 3D, I live with a Grey who is consistently able to request actions or objects from me and is able to comment on my activities all by using words in the appropriate context. Most of this he learned by observation and positive reinforcement from me. Birds in general and parrots in particular have far more intelligence than you give them credit for. A parrots learning of the sound of a word or phrase is only the start. Given the opportunity they can also learn useful associations. Get educated.
That's true, but if you notice, it's speaking randomly. It may be hungry, but that doesn't mean it's actually requesting the specific foods given because she ASKED him what he'd like. It would have been different if he requested something before she even offered to feed it. And yes, we've had a friend who owned an African Grey. They are intelligent birds, I must admit. Just don't get agitated about something so trivial. I'm sure the bird wasn't bothered by the mocking anyway.
my african grey.....timneh, has a problem where if you try getting it on your hand it goes crasy.......someone was abusing him or hand feeding him wrong...any tips, on getting him to normal???
I love African Greys and yours is just beautiful. I have been toying with the idea of getting one for me and the family. He would love it here. We all adore african greys.
my mother has an african grey. His name is max. He hates my dad and LOVES my mom. He talks just like her and laughs says hi, burps, sounds like the phone, sounds like water is running. Hes so cute. but he is in the habit of throwing his food.
Hahaha "Now give me kiss." -flies away- Aw, poor you. My timneh doesn't give me kisses either. She prefers to eat my finger, and lunge at me like I'm a piece of food.
You might consider clipping their flight feathers back. Learn about it b4 trying it if you never did it before. You want them to be able to fly about 20 or 30 feet max. It's good exercise. Just a suggestion...
hi, i am about to get a grey but i already have 2 lovebirds who screetch alot and i no you have other birds who do this, dose your grey copy the screeting or not ??? thanks

OH,I see what they meant. Thanks! Yes, they really are. Jake even asks me "Are you alright?" and he knows when to say it. If I get sick, Sadie will stay in bed with me and only leave to go to the bathroom or get a bite to eat. It's wonderful. I can't believe that there are people that don't like animals, can you? Did you notice, in Jake's video, that when there is a noise, he asks me "It's alright?". Gotta love em'! :)
Jake has quite a large vocabulary. They're very intelligent birds. Jake will even end my telephone conversations by saying "uh huh....okay...bye...*beep*. :)
that's one funky parrot. My aunt has one, and she says: peekaboo, are you alright, hello, hello Arie (Her name is Aries but she can't pronounce 's') and she can wolf whistle and make telephone noises

Thanks! Was curious about why you asked about them being telepathic though. :)

Jake has quite a large vocabulary. They're very intelligent birds. Jake will even end my telephone conversations by saying "uh huh....okay...bye...*beep*. :)

omg my timmy says almost the same thing, "alright...okay...bye...*boop*"

that's one funky parrot. My aunt has one, and she says: peekaboo, are you alright, hello, hello Arie (Her name is Aries but she can't pronounce 's') and she can wolf whistle and make telephone noises

That was funny when you said, Jake, gimme kiss and he flew toward you... teehee. Parrots are great companions!

It was funny, but he was flying away from me.......LOL! I think he got spooked. They are very sensitive to movement.
