  • well you got to love beef cause it's what's for dinner LOL :)

  • Hillshire!

  • When i say hillshire, you say farm.

  • love the picture, it looks delicious

  • is there a bass bone solo or a regular trombone solo at end?

  • I'm eating three pounds of chuck roast as I watch this. Why? Because fuck you, that's why.

  • mooooo

  • this song was hard to play as I played the clarinet part for this.. when I was in orchestra. It was all about the timing.

  • @bzirkle86 This song is like impossible to play on clarinet! I wish I could double tongue. We had an adjudicator at one of concerts and he told us that he never heard any professional group play it as fast we played it and we're in high school. All my director for dinner that day was coffee and snickers. Yeah

  • @sparklychick74 It is a very hard song to play.. However we had a good group of musicians the year we played it. I wish I could also double tongue but I haven't touched my clarinet since I graduated high school.

  • this song is on a continuous loop in the family slaughterhouse

  • this song...omg <33333

  • this is a beast song.... whats up with the graphics on the video...... anyone else notice it

  • I'm sure I'm not the first to say it, but, "beef, it's whats for dinner."

  • yes

  • I've always wanted to see cows from that angle. Amazing video.

  • why dont black people like country music? because every time they hear hoedown they think someone shot their sister

  • Our middle school chamber is learning this...the first time we did a run through it fell apart xD

  • If this song doesn't make you want to go on an adventure, then nothing will.

  • @likenother616 I second that! You wanna round up the gunny sacks, and I'll get the rifle and hitch up the wagon?

  • Hahaha I played the trumpet part. Super exhilarating. And nice poses Dolly and Daphne (cows name).

  • I could play this solo, but then I took an arrow to the-wait, I can play this as a sooloist ^_^

  • Clarinets are the strings of the band............long live the geeky clarinet player in the band! (former band geek reliving some of my favorite pieces on youtube)

  • Robert Mitchum!!!

  • I am sorry for all the people that play band, but orchestra is far better, if it was not for the strings, songs like these would have never surfaced

  • Swagtastic!

  • The strings are EPIC!

  • this song reminds me of a good old animated movie classic, An American Tale: Fivel Goes West! ah, those were some good times...

  • This is a great song, but it's PAINFUL to play at that speed.

  • Woo hoo! 1, 2, 3, 4.

  • I remeber playing this during one of my High School Orcestra Concerts. We played it at about three-quarters of it's normal speed.

  • it's one of a calasicish thing i'll really lisen to

  • I played this in high school orchestra. AMAZING!

  • I have to play this is orchestra....and I'm now a first violin.....oh god...

  • Now I Want a burger...ID why the first three words are 1st letter capped

  • COWS FTW! :D

  • great song but is it just me or does this version sound way faster than normal?

  • Favorite part: 1:41 - 1:48.

  • oh shoot! im eating beef flavored ramen noodles right now!

  • Vegetarians, close you ears!

  • Happy bithday Mr.Copland!

  • The awkward moment when you realis that your name is BigBeefPackage and you are listening to this. ohh well BEEF!!!

  • COWPLAND FTW!

  • OMG, COWS XD

  • Beef, it's wats for dinner, good post & thx

  • yum... those cows look good with some A1 steak sauce.

  • i looked this up for orchestra, wtf is dis whole beef comercial shiz

  • @QCftw97

In the united states, this song is played on just about every tv and radio commercial that is advertising beef.

This song was on the musical score for the ballet "Rodeo." When you think rodeo, you also think of cowboys. and when you think of cowboys, you think of cows. beef comes from cows (obviously). apparently this was the more popular song from the ballet, so it was used on beef commercials. it's what's for dinner.

  • Funny thing is, I knew this before the beef commercials.....I Actually associate the beef commercials with Aaron Copeland

  • 1 dislike? they must be a vegetarian

  • EMERSON LAKE AND PALMER!

  • this video is inaccurate there is no hoe down

  • @MrTheGReAtON3 No, your IQ is inaccurate. Listen to the goddamn song, and maybe Aaron Copland's genius might make you gain a little intelligence.

  • @AustinTheGeek777 ahhh shut the fuck up blah blah

  • Comment removed

  • @MrTheGReAtON3 No, you.

  • 1 person doesn't like BEEF!

  • i'm amazed by how many people associate this with the Beef commercial. It seems advertising has done its job, at least you were exposed to awesome music.

  • too fast

  • @tobiasfelipe That's the tempo is made to be played at, not the high school youth group tempo. Listen to real professionals play this and you'll see it isn't too fast. And it's call "Hoe Down" for a reason, Those aren't ballroom dances with slow music, it's country ball where everyone dances till their feet fall off.

  • And THAT is the correct speed to play it at.

  • This is probably the greatest piece of all time

  • Who are the models in the photo? They look ravishing.

  • @gcpropertymanagement A couple of girls from Nebraska.

  • @gcpropertymanagement They look like Jersey boys to me. :-)

  • @gcpropertymanagement The Kardashians

  • @gcpropertymanagement they could be limousine cows...

  • @gcpropertymanagement Would you like their numbers?

  • @gcpropertymanagement i think ur comment just made my life

  • @ellajaymass Well, the comment has disappeared. I did not remove it so I guess there was a glitch with You Tube and somehow it got erased. Sorry--I did not remove it.

  • @gcpropertymanagement haha no the comment was really funny, i think it was something like

    "Wow, those models look ravishing"

  • This is what it sounds like when Chuck Norris farts.

  • my school's symphony is playing this for our fall concert and it's a lot of fun. I think we should totally all stand up at the end, raise our bows, and yell "BEEF!" :)

  • this was really good!!! thankyou it really helped me get a good seat in my youth symphony!! ^_^

  • thumbs up if u found this beautiful music not miley cyrus

  • As I type this comment I am currently eating beef and playing this song on repeat.

  • @VidsnMixes Do you eat people when listening to fanfare for the common man?

  • @Djinnmeister Just common folk, I'm sure.

  • @VidsnMixes livin the high life

  • @VidsnMixes Then you must be a Texan! *lol*

  • I think this Aaron Copeland's music might just catch on! I feel so lucky to have been born at a time when I could hear this!

  • @tiagoids Wait until you hear their version of Fanfare for the Common Man! Check it out. This is a wonderful version of this piece.

  • This song is Nyan Cat.

  • @Uderscore

You mean "Nyan Cat is this song".

  • BEEF, its what America is having for dinner!!

  • This recording is excellent! The technical proficiency is so obvious, and i love the ensemble cheer @ 2:03...

The cow grazing still is definitely not something I would choose to depict things piece of music though ;-)

  • OMFG! ELP made an epic cover of this masterpiece! Now I know...

  • MOOO

  • Did the "Modern Family" season preview bring you here? LOL

  • omg, no dislikes!!! incredible!

  • @MountainPeak100 Except for one fucker who thinks that Miley's Cyrus' Hoedown Throwdown is better than a beautiful work of art by one of the last great classical composers.

  • @abviolin3 ikr, f him

  • I just wanna whip out my revolver and start spinning it and fanning it like no tomorrow when this plays. Line up the bottle and knock em down.

  • Theme of the common lawyer

  • the first thing i thought of when i heard this was toy story!

  • Perfect music for burnin' up a hunk o' cow. Best part? If you like your steak rare and you've got a good grill, it's done when the song's over.

  • It's what's for dinner.

  • @SEHANO Best comment ever.

  • @TDanMan88 thanks :-)

  • also kinda feels like at a disney parade

  • @princesssherah What kind of music did aaron copland write country and western thats what this is also folk jazz and atonal

  • cool I might make a funny vid to this :)

  • @TheFactsJustTheFacts Then why the hell is it from "Rodeo"? Is that not western?

  • @abviolin2

They have rodeos in Mexico, Spain, Canada, South America and Australia.

Also, just because Copland called it "rodeo" doesn't mean this is the kind of music rodeo fans or cowboys play or listen too. Quite the contrary.

It is merely one man'smusical composition that he called "rodeo". He could have called it, say, "auction", or "harvest" or any word.

If you hadn't been told its title, would you really think this is the music of rodeos or cowboys?

  • @TheFactsJustTheFacts That's probably true, that Copland gained inspiration from an old Irish tune. You can definitely hear traces of Irish influence throughout the music (especially from 1:40 - 1:49), but that doesn't mean Copland can't have intended it to be cowboy-ish. As I'm sure many of have already pointed out, it is, after all, from a ballet entitled "Rodeo".

Btw, cowboys are not known to frequent the ballet or do pirouettes.

  • @TheFactsJustTheFacts

First of all, I did not say this was the kind of music cowboys would play or listen to. I wouldn't know -- I'm not a cowboy. Secondly, this piece is not called "Rodeo". It's called "Hoedown", and it's part of a larger work called "Rodeo". And that larger work was composed for a ballet about cowboys. It's just a fact. (Notice it's not cowboys doing ballet -- it's for ballet dancers acting as cowboys.)

    {Comment continued in second reply. Sorry, didn't all fit in one post.}

  • @TheFactsJustTheFacts

    @TheFactsJustTheFacts

I would advise you to search on YouTube "rodeo ballet" and click on the first option to see a portion of the ballet. I think you may find yourself surprised.

So no, I do not know of any cowboys that frequent the ballet or, as you generalized, "do pirouettes", nor did I ever claim they existed.

...And yes, if I had listened to this piece without having known it's title, I still would have thought it resembled a Western, cowboy-ish influence.

  • man this song.... this song is happiness.

  • Yeehaw!!! ..Bitches. - Rick James

  • 'Merica!!!!

  • wtf, almost as good if not better than Emerson, Lake and Palmer. actually it's on the same bar as them

  • @oakhill49 Your concern is appreciated, but it's best not to get all political on here, especially since I've got no support. I'm not a muslim, so that's out of the window.

  • @Dictator300 Thanks :) I love this song and Aaaron's music so much...it also reminds me of being little and my Dad listening to it all the time.

  • Yes, Texas - main West Central, in the open plains and hills, where it seems you can see past the horizon.. Or maybe Montana - on wide open prairies so vast they seem to go on forever, except to the west where the snow-capped mountains loom in the far distance.

  • We are playing this at my high school right now.

  • Westerns. It's what's on television.

  • There should be a picture of cattle and mustangs with Monument Valley as the backdrop.

  • shudnt the guy get a picture of cattle in the USA instead of this cold wet looking scene -_-

  • Sounds like early hardcore rave awesome! ; )

  • I wonder how many fans espousing the "manliness" of Copland's Rodeo realize Copland (and the conductor Michael Tilson Thomas) was gay. Homosexuality can very well equal Americanism and manliness.

  • This song totally rocks to the absolute max!!!

  • Beef, it's what's for dinner.

  • AMURKA!

  • In Shakespeare's "Macbeth", Malcolm says in Act 4: "This tune goes manly". Literature experts will say he was talking about Macduff's pledge to destroy Macbeth, but I know that he was actually talking about this amazing piece of music.

  • Beef...it's whats for Dinner....
