I really wish eric would go back to playing an es 335 or a les paul again, I believe his tone and playing is more expressive when he has a gibson in his hands. There will only be one God and that is Eric Clapton.
Well, yeah, agreed ... but you have to be ready "in your head" for the sound. I spent 20 yrs playing fender- tele and strat ( to the extent that I decined to buy on 2 separate occasions late 60s 335s offered to me cheaply by friends! However, a few years ago, I felt the need for more body and warmth in the tone and after adding mid range boost to single coils didn't work - took a chance and bought an epiphone ELITE 335 ... and I've never played anything else since.
I don't think Eric used soldano's for this tour at all. In fact, I think he stopped using them after the Journeyman tour. He generally goes back to fender amps or some sort of custom made fender like amp when he plays the blues.

Clapton NEVER came close to playing this song as well as Peter Greene did. Greene was as melodic a G. Harrison at his best.

Thanks for the post, but E.C. can't even touch the version by Peter Green & John Mayall:

Ditto on the Gibsons. Thats Clapton to me. Bluesbreakers, Cream, and this era, his tone on a Gibson gives me goosebumps.
Cheers, Scott.

Glad to read I'm not the only one who believes he sounds even better with a Gibson.

Oh yes. He even finds time to fiddle with his amp, which oddly appears to be a bassman and not a soldano.
