  • Einstein thought the universe was static, Ha, I know more about space than Einstein, Ima genius

  • Amazing!

  • Or current scientists extremely stupid or they have no idea how universe is functioning? The reason why it appears like everything is expanding because galaxies are getting larger & they are pushing each other away. As long as universe will produce energy galaxies will grow when universe stop producing energy galaxies will stop growing larger. Whatever is visible to us because of energy just like the life form we won't have existence with out of food which is our extension of life.

  • @Levon9404 I'm pretty sure your statement is incorrect. I believe scientists think no new energy has been created since the big bang. It just gets recycled.

  • @JG129 Only that single word recycle will make big bang wrong think about that!! That was my conclusion when I was able understand how atoms are functioning. The universe is lot more than just an empty space?

  • @Levon9404 Dude admit that your incorrect. Every scientists knows that you cant just 'create' energy. energy itself requires an energy source. So the statement saying energy getting recycled is alot more correct than your answer. And when i say energy, i mean all the heat, light, kinetic, and potential energy's of our universe.

  • @bigmac575 To make me wrong you have to explain me from where all that energy adding up to make it galaxies to grow? I can prove you every passing seconds galaxies are growing in size there are plenty of evidence for it. Can you explain me how universe produce that energy? But don't tell me does are the left overs of big bang feeding galaxies to grow. I can show you evidence energy it doesn't stay long in one place specially 15 billion years to feed existing galaxies.

  • @Levon9404 i think your definition of "energy" is flawed. You know all matter and energy are interchangeable right?... As in matter can be transferred into energy.

  • @bigmac575 In your statement, here is what you quoted " energy itself requires energy source" that will make big bang wrong?

  • All matter and energy in the universe condensed down to a super hot, super dense singularity the size of a proton is hard to understand yes, but you just have to research the findings of scientists. But the energy source for the big bang was that singularity. imagine 10^30 nucular explosions going off at one time in a space no larger than an atom.

  • @bigmac575 I do respect all your knowledge & your research. But reality points out different direction!! Trust me I did lots of research 32 years of research. Here is where guys you are dead wrong "SINGULARITY" things never reach to that point. Let me give you little clue what universe is all about? Can you take block of metal 3" * 3" & squeeze into singularity? if you are able to than I will be wrong. But I know & you know it you never will be able to, is that simple!!

  • @Levon9404 ........

Do you know what a black hole is? And no you are wrong, if you had enough pressure and heat, yes you could turn a block of steel into a singularity, but the energy required to do that on the other hand is out of reach, but the idea is not.

  • @bigmac575 I would encourage you for you watch my next video clips. I'm hoping it will be ready for this coming weekend & will load it this coming Saturday. You will see clearly how far it is my knowledge compare with yours. My explanations will be mostly for scientists but any body welcome to check it . You will see it doesn't matter how hot formation gets it never melts the same as earth's inner core or our suns inner core?

  • @Levon9404 Dude im talking about way more massive than our own sun.

  • @bigmac575 Trust me you won't be disappointed when you watch my video clips, smallest moon in the universe & the largest star in the universe they all formed the same way. It is all depend how much of energy concentration exists time of formation. You will find out truly what are does black holes & why they get so large.

  • @bigmac575 i dont agree unless hawking radiation has a higher value than thought. one other thought the moon is moving away from earth! is it or could it be the space between the earth and moon expanding

  • @bigmac575 Can you imagine if universe had a endless energy the way the endless space is it self the whole universe could of been solid. I want to give you clue there is something in the universe you don't know it & is not dark matter or anti matter. There are plenty of facts & evidence exists on the earth already I can show you all.

  • Science is all about coming up with an idea and daring others to prove you wrong. And when someone has tested proof that your incorrect, to me having one of your own theories proved wrong and accepting that fact is the key to wisdom and knowledge of our universe.

  • one day i farted and made the universe

  • @Sh0wBiZz139 Is that what your older brother told you?

  • The big bang is the biggest load of crap. We have no clue how the universe began; nor where it starts, nor where it ends. Im mean honestly, we can hardly reach mars. We truly are pathetic in this so called 'universe'

  • @jmarmario1 Just because we can hardly reach Mars doesn't mean the big bang theory is a load of crap.

It's a fact that the Universe is expanding, so with that being said, isn't it logical that if something is expanding, that if you time reverse the process it all comes to a point?

One of the most basic principles our Universe is that it's based on is cause then effect. The theory is solid until we discover laws of physics that prove it otherwise.

  • awesome!

  • But we human don't know nothing about universe, and so we don't know how universe was born, IF it was born.

And if it's true what they say about particles in the LHC in Genève that they surpass the lightspeed, all those telling theorie's are gone at once. But otherwise: What is lightspeed? Also something invented by humans?

  • Quran mentioned this 1450 yeas ago

"The heaven, We have built it with power. Verily. We are expanding it."

    ((Quran 51:47))

  • this is AWESOME

  • i believe in multiverses

  • @takemybreathawayok same here

  • No air in space..

If anything, it was an Emplosion...

  • this guy has a face i kinda wanna punch idk why it just seems soo... punchable

  • @elarius0 comments such as these should not be allowed here. This is not a "chat room." Cabron.

  • boom. expand. great.

    boom. expand. enlarge. fuck off.

  • The Koran gives an accurate visual description of the Big Bang theory of the creation of the universe. In the 21st chapter, verse 30 (21:30), the Koran states:

"Do the Unbelievers not see that the heavens and the earth were joined together, before We clove them asunder? We made every living thing from water. Will they not then believe? (21:30)."

If you think Koran is fake, then think again, if u hater, then read in mind, don't have to speak loud, if u looking 4 a right road, then accept it . . .

  • @DVendy Congratulations! You've just displayed your typical sense of Islamic ignorance! Here's the current understanding of the universe:

    1. Inflation of universe

    2. Formation of Hydrogen

    3. Hydrogen clouds collapse under gravity

    4. Star formation

    5. Supernova form high elements

    6. Accretion

    7. Spherical body is formed

    8. Infant planet formed

The formation of universe > earth spans billions of years. Earth is INSIGNIFICANT to the formation of the universe.

  • bullshit.

  • God Almighty expanding voice spoke the expanding universe into existance!

  • I'm only watching this to fall asleep lol

  • thank you

  • The Noble quran Verse 51:47

"And the firmament, We constructed with power and skill and verily We are expanding it"

  • dark matter is a laugh as well the idea that a few equations can be made almost true based on something you cannot show is called magic, or rather illusion .... bah. i hate science as much as i love it.. no. wait, i hate illusionists as much as i love them.. throw your voice if you have to but please, no papers till you have something solid..

  • personally it implies to me that the matter is expanding within something. which is against the singularity bigbang idea. if you ask me anyways but im just imaginative

  • the space between two galaxy.. is it different than that between a proton and an electron? i dont mean in degrees of measurement, i mean if space expands, all does and we wouldnt see it. we know force, at the small scale is of higher energy so why we cant understand the expansion of the space that the mass is expanding into is pissing me off.. i think some bastards making shit up

  • Human is very stupid animal.I wish some super intelligent Aliens will teach something.I bet in 500 Years we will not have more info , maybe little bit , but not much more then today.

  • is it individual galaxies moving away from other galaxies or is it a local group of galaxies moving away together? ... id like to think the local group stays together.. so that we can still see stars in the skies in a million years from now.. And the only thing changed is the distance between our local group to the next local group of galaxies. As long as humanity can colonise our own galaxy and possibly other galaxies in the local group in the distant future, i will b happy

  • Maybe that is intelligent but what a stupid face ..

Want to laugh? ... to go 03:17 and play and stop quickly .... see how many funny faces he makes..XD

  • Maybe that is intelligent but what a stupid face ..

  • In the scale of the Universe we are nothing but bacteria living on a spec of dust.

  • combine this theory and research with the expanding earth theory research and expanding planet research!!

  • And speeds up! In my opinion, Big Bang was few Universe years ago, so it can be imagined as firework explosion in slow motion...

    L.

Ps. It should have been 'ago' in previous note as well ;))

  • I would say - What if the Universe is so huge that time is different than on earth... In other words, as we are just a micro cell of the Universe. Therefore, perhaps 1 year for the Universe is equal 1 000 000 earth years... Perhaps, 'our' as in not only one Universe is very young and Big Bang happened just 'few years ego' for entire Universe. And maybe it expands, because it starts to 'grow'.

    L.

  • This one doesn't explain why or how. Things like what if the big bang didn't end? And that that it is an ongoing eruption of matter that works slowly and things are pushed from within to move faster away from were it began. I think of time as motion through 3 dimensions and not a dimension itself. If you have something moving through these 3 it can go faster or slower, just as time appears to speed up or slow down. Therefore time changes with location and speed and not with the dimensions.

  • I have a question. If galaxies are said to move further from each other, and thats the proof to the expansion of the Universe, then why are they colliding??

  • @tnguyen318 Maybe they're not all going in the same direction?

  • One person is saying one thing. The other is saying another. Nobody knows what the heck is going on.

  • dumbass

  • What one usually means by it" doesn't make sense," is that it makes no sense to me. Appreciate that we don't all understand in the same way. Just as some are stronger and larger than others, some are truly smarter.

  • Jesus rules as king of universe and lord of all creation. Worthy is Jesus to save mankind again and bring his kingdom.

  • The biggest proof that religion is some stupid made up crap is that you should not drink beer or any alcoholic drink... the story about jesus.. 2000 years ago... they knew how to make alchoholic drinks 2000 years ago? The bible and quran are just books that are being updated every once in a while to make life miserable for people who believe in this shit. Too control them in any way possible.

  • @08376

I agree with you with religion beeing invented by man and used to cotroll people. But alcoholics were well know 2000 years before. Romans used to drink wine you know ;). I guess forbiding to drink alcoholics was beacause romans drunk alcoholics.

  • Someone of course already knows the answer , and if they say one damn word about it without government support they'll be executed in a remote location.

  • Isnt that Bernacky? They all look the same, Clones?

  • like a giant drain

  • sorry all this is complete BS

  • People are insane. If it isn't a religious man flaunting his breed of ignorance, a moron is flaunting his. If a man believes in God, it is his right to do so. If a man believes that we're the product of a miraculous explosion, he has his right to do so. Why do people constantly have to be at each others' throats and arguing over who's stupid and who's right? Nobody fuckin' knows what's going on in this universe, so enjoy this pale blue dot while you've got the finite speck of time left on it!!

  • @Bigj0123456 lol

  • This guy says there was the big bang like he was there when it happened. How does he or any of us know that there was a beginning? What if the universe is expanding into nothing? Just because or 3 dimensional trains of thought can't comprehend anything that is not in a timeline or a linear fashion of events, doesn't mean that time and life is just an illusion. Also for all of these people that follow any religion, just stop. There is no difference in between the wrong and the wrong.

  • @dgk990

I read somewhere that scientist believe in the bigbang theory because they can still see the after radiation glow from the explosion when they look at the sky with special cameras and telescopes. Supposedly our eyes can't see certain light molecules that these telescopes can see. Some scientist believe that the universe will expand into a big rip. Something like a balloon pop. Who knows, we will not be around to witness any of this just like we weren't around for the big bang.

  • "Dark expansion electric magnetic energy! It is what we are doing to our existence in time space which it is caused by our none expansion technological freedom of thoughts, for its best expansion of physic self sustainability and technological physic mass in time space which it is given, for its best existence of none developed cosmic species!"

  • You know after thinking about this for a while it all comes down to humans just aren't smart enough to advance that much... Just live you're life to the fullest on Earth and be happy

  • @NeededBabyCakez jaja...Have you ever heard the exponential formula on technology??? In only ten years,,,,,We will make incredible advances....IMAGINE 50, 100, 1,000 ....10,000.....100,000,,,,,1,000,000 YEARS!

Everything thats is sci fi, will more likely become science fact! Never give up hope!! The future is golden!

  • expansion..uh so what is the speed or the rate at witch the stars are drifting away from us? and where is the point of origin of the expansion? the point from where the universe is expanding from... is that point us? is that theory putting us at the center of the universe again? or is it an expansion without a center? for there has to be a point a center for an expansion to take place. what is the dynamic of this so called expansion of the universe? scientists never have any real answers.

  • @Vmartin70EZ

Nope, everything drifts away from everything, so naturally it would seem that everything is moving away from our perspective center. If you were observing the universe from a hundred million lightyears from here, everything would seem to accelerate away from that point, too, even the speck of light our galaxy would look like from there.

  • @ElleRoni Its more complicated than you think, this things need a scientific answer....Not dumb logic like we all have......Come on, man!

  • stil wit tha spellimgg blakebarbie. have fun in church haha

  • videos like this make the idea of god(s), especially from the bible, koran, etc, seem petty and rediculous

  • Comment removed

  • or pretty marvelous. It' all depends on how you look at it. "Smart humans, who still can't grasp all causes in the universe" or "beings that couldn't possibly understand such wonders of a creator this miraculous" Either way though I don't care to get into a discussion. Just thought I'd let you know your comment is "RIDICULOUS" b/c either way THERE IS NO DEFINITIVE PROOF OF EITHER" i also find it hard to actually listen to someone who can't even spell. (ridiculous)! IDIOT!

  • @BlakeBarable theres definately no god especially the one talked about in the bible out in the cosmos pumping m atter into existence. when you resort to attacking spelling it shows how much youre a pathetic pussy

  • Sure buddy b/c that's exactly what my comment said "Good old pumper of matter, that god is!" When your vagina gets that offended over the fact you CANT SPELL dur dur durr, that's when you know, you sir are a retard :) Have a blessed day fagot.

  • @BlakeBarable are you the worlds biggest pussy or what?

  • you forgot the word "monster" after pussy bro. There's a place for people like you! and it's called the ball pen at chucky cheeses ya dipshit. End of Discussion, I can already tell this is going in an unintelligent direction. Thank you for proving to me that retards are still able to type. DUCE

  • @BlakeBarable DUCE? you talk a lot of shit but dont back it up. just shows how uniteligent you and all christians are. cunt

  • just so ya know, it's not spelled "koran" ** QURAN ** btw I love how you are backing up your shit talk! Your so cool and tough and know eveything I better just sulk away with my head down since I've been called a cunt already. NOT, you're a blabbering windbag who needs to get his lights knocked out. GOODBYE STALKER STOP FLIRTING WITH ME!!!

  • Toyota Prius. Aaaaaaaaah!

  • If he should say that we think the universe started from a big bang then in church or in a mosque the minister should say we THINK god said this. We THINK this is what he meant

  • If it is true what you are saying, aliens doesnt exist?

  • why are scientists so smart and so dumb at the same time

  • Let's keep the non-religious debate out of this, I believe the size and gravity of the universe speaks for itself. NONE of this could exist without god. Need proof? Get your head out of your ass and look around and the marvels of the universe that is god.

  • this guy should correct himself to say: "we THINK we know how the universe began".... cause mankind can never know that until the day of judgement

  • @Simm2Dimm There is no such thing as God. Wake the fuck up already.

  • @RebelThoughts i'm truely sorry u feel that way....but ur entitled to ur opinion

  • @Simm2Dimm No i'm entitled to my facts. As is the entire world. There is no God, has never been one. Deal with it.

  • @RebelThoughts What facts? Oh, you mean the concepts/statements believed to be true but are then proven wrong within a few decades or years (if we're lucky). Science can only go so far and unfortunately doesn't provide many answers.

  • The guy has a rape face on at all times

  • @IGOTTHESHAKESBAD Who the guy with the bowling shirt? I think that's more of a diddle face, astronomer by night, icecream man/ clown by day!

  • "It is We who have built the universe with (Our creative) power, and, verily, it is We who are steadily expanding it." [Az-Zariyat 51:47] ......This was already said 1430 years ago........NOT 1920......READ THE QURAN.........

  • @ALLAHSWARRIOR312 Simple wordbending could even make Lord of the Rings apply into modern Science. And it's alot better then the Quran. Suggest you read it instead.

  • @kazath No word bending here besides this their are many other signs in the quran about the orgins of the universe and our orgin.....

  • @ALLAHSWARRIOR312 plus the the ancient greek theorized that we evolved from smaller animals, and in 1800's charles darwin came up with the same thing "evolution" does that mean Zeus or appollo told them about evolution?

  • @simw7 We don't blve we evolved from animals, if you want to be a monkey am not stopping you go ahead..........

  • @ALLAHSWARRIOR312 well why do you choose to accept that the universe is expending, but not that we came from smaller species, I mean and what you believe is irrelevant to what's true. both of those theories are scientific, evolution is supported by more evidence than the expansion of the universe theory, but still you choose not to believe it because ur holy book says so, that's willful ignorance.

  • @ALLAHSWARRIOR312 dude that's ridiculous, we're not expending the universe, the universe is too big for us to even matter. so how the hell are even expending it?

  • @simw7 We, is the royal we of power meaning ALLAH is expanding the universe their are many signs in the quran if you read it, to guide you..........

  • @ALLAHSWARRIOR312 dude lol hahaha no it's the flying spaghetti monster who is expending the universe. Seriously haha

  • @simw7 That joke wasn't funny when bill maher said it and it's still not funny........

  • @ALLAHSWARRIOR312 It doesn't mean shit. Where is the Mathematical Proof and Theory behind the meaning of the Verse. If Allah had said "E=MC^2" and given exact Formulas, That would prove Allah explained Science. So do yourself a favor, stop quoting Dark Age Poetry & Fuck off.

  • @ALLAHSWARRIOR312 thats all mysterious and everything... but how can you defend your concept of how the universe works with quotes from a centuries old book. you cant just call god down here to explain himself, and you cant just trust the quran is completely correct due to generations of misinterpretations and passing down. these men have facts, you have faith

  • @ALLAHSWARRIOR312 I need you to tell me something since the Quran who i have read says that Allah doesn't have associates or no one should associate Allah with anything or partner or whatever. So tell me now why it says "It is WE who have built the universe with (OUR CREATIVE) power, and, verily it is WE who are steadily expanding it" Can you tell brother who the fuck is that WE???

  • @inurt203 I can explain that . There are certain differences in grammar and understanding when the Quran is translated to English from Arabic. In Arabic the plural is used for respect and glorification, hope that helps u understand the Quran better.

  • @ahd200 That helped.Thank you for a clear answer

  • @ALLAHSWARRIOR312 Are you joking? This video talks about the expansion of space-time. Your quote does not describe the expansion of space time. If it did, it wouldn't have taken us another thousand years for us to discover it. The quote is a lie, too. That's a very "interesting" translation you've got there. You replace "firmament" with "universe" and thought you could get away with it? Really? REALLY?

And who the heck thumbed up this freaking dishonest bull****? : /

  • String Theory is also in the miraculous quran? of course muslims don't know that yet but they'll fiddle around with words and come up something to prove that.

come on guys no scientist is gonna buy your BS pseudoscience. Evolution alone is enough to prove that religions are nothing but a bunch of lies.

  • What the heck is space-time? The equation for time isn't even correct!!

  • @ALLAHSWARRIOR312 We who have built the universe with (Our creative) power ...lol

  • @ALLAHSWARRIOR312

its also the same book that said the stars are just lamps missiles to drive away the devils (67 5)

its also the same book that claimed earth to be flat (51 48)

you dont believe that crap dont you

  • well if it isnt charlie sheens intelligent twin!

  • I really like the show the universe. But man it's hard to watch when Alex Filippenko comes on the screen. I mean It's nice to see he's such a happy person. But you know when people just creep you out, that guy does to me. Plus his grin looks like the shit eating variety that's just so damn irritating and hard not to dislike. D ;

  • this guy looks smart

  • Seria possível traduzir o vídeo para a o português brasileiro?

    Obrigada!

  • Free Energy is real and it's here but the coverup is strong, if u r interested in a REAL free energy magnet motor

just go to LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM and download the blueprints ,it's probably the ONLY working magnet

motor out there. Join the free energy revolution!!

  • In mathematical conceptual science there is the need to limit numbers obtained to the least significant number of digits you initially started with... This concept can be applied to the world not just numbers. We started this world with God! A significant figure. And so that would mean that everything after God is insignificant, thus everything will end with GOD!

  • If the universe is expanding faster than the speed of light, why are the stars in the sky in the same relative positions as they were thousands of years ago? Why are the constellations the same?

  • @stopdemockery That's a great question, though I think if it is expanding the stuff created within it will still be governing and holding each other through the pull of gravity, thus cause things to sit in similar positions even if it was actually expanding.

  • @BibFortuna4President ~ But, these guys say it's expanding at more than light speed, which in thousands of years would put the objects of our constellations clean out of sight.

  • @stopdemockery The things made manifest within the universe may not necessarily have to expand 'with it'. While the universe itself may get larger and larger, things already made manifest may possibly just continue to maintain their usual consistent positions through their gravity mechanics with one another. The Solar System is essentially a clockwork gravity show which may not be affected however large the universe may expand.

  • @BibFortuna4President ~ It is exactly because they theorized that the stars and galaxies are mostly (supposedly) moving away from each other that astronomers have further theorized that the universe is expanding.

  • But, this makes the question even more maddening. Let's forget the rest of the universe and the universal expansion theory for a moment.

From our perspective within the spin of our galaxy, the constellations should be ever changing. They should appear (line up) in exactly the same position only every 22,000 years or however long it takes us to revolve around its 360 degree circumference.

That the constellations remain static over thousands of years is truly an enigma.

  • @stopdemockery mmmmmm interesting, then if their theory is correct I would stand corrected.

  • Has it ever crossed someones mind that maybe the universe is not expanding, but that the eyes/equipment/technology through which we few the universe is expanding and that we are interpreting it all wrong?

  • Comment removed

  • @26JV26 ~ Somewhere I read of the universe inside a ball on God's desk. Earth's ground formed the inside of the ball. The shortest distance to the other side of the Earth was straight up. But, you couldn't get there that way, because everything shrinks to infinity the closer you get to the center of the ball. Proof: hang two plumb bobs down the longest straight down distance you can find. They'll measure farther apart at the bottom, which counters logic.

  • @26JV26 that really wouldn't surprise me after all the goofs humans have made, especially in science.

  • And yes, there is no gravity at all.

You cant explain how drawing force working. quess why? because there is no drawing force at all.

    .

  • Thats nice, but quess what?

    Space dont expanding at all.

I can proof that science way.

    Check it out my video

Hello Jim Carrey, i know how universe really working.

    .

  • if the universe is expanding then what is it expanding inside of?

  • Comment removed

  • Si todo el Universo se expande proporcionalmente quiere decir que las distancias actuales entre los planetas y el sol en nuestro sistema planetario tambien aumentan? Se puede estimar a que ritmo? es decir: cuantos km/hr?

  • if galaxies are moving away from our galaxy and not towards it then we may be the center of the universe where this big bang occured , if it retracts is when you should really start to worry!!

  • awesome

  • Very nice :)

  • How do we know we're still not at the early stages of the Big Bang?

This would then explain that in every direction we look out as far as we can, everything is moving faster because this was where the most forces we generated just like that in a general explosion? Also gives an explanation of inflation?

  • the universe expands as our consciousness grows

  • to anderstand get some logic ansers we have to obseve the wall of univers and whit the tecnolegy which we have now its not posible, we have to use space jomp to do it so.

  • Alex Filipenko looks like the younger brother of Robin Williams:-)I would say that matter always emits energy, that may cause the faster growing expansion? nice vid!5/5

  • I love this.

  • I'm thinking if the objests we look at in the night sky are diffrent ages and the effect of dark energy changes (or the rate of expansion increases) directly affecting gravity, wouldn't gravity appear to have different values depending on where we look? does that make sense to anyone else?

  • You mean that expanding space or new space that appears between objects would "eat up" some of the force of gravity (gravity weakening over distance)?

  • @omegavalerius yea something like that, so depending on the age of what we look at in space our equation of gravity would have to compensate, or do I have that wrong? is dark energy sopposed to make gravity the same everywhere in the universe and its simply to make up the diffrence in mass that needs to be there in order to create that amount of gravity? My thinking was it was sopposed to explain why in different locations in space the mass to gravity ratio is different.

  • @Deadly699

I think they calculate the expanding space in when they look at distant objects but that is just a hunch.

  • seriously great information. :O

  • If space is expanding faster and faster as time goes on...will the expansion rate ever pass light speed? Are objects furthest from the point of the bang, like red shifting galaxies, still speeding up?

  • To my limited knowledge, nothing so far observed has exceeded the speed of light nor indicated that it could.

Even the uber fast neutrino stars with their single second rotations don't 'violate' what we know as the law of lightspeed.

If I understand this and other segments on the Cosmos expanding, everything, including those red shifts are speeding up.

  • Nothing beats the speed of light like "instantaneous". Quantum entanglement may hold a portion of the answer. We're still stuck in the two world realm, unable to unite relativity and quantum mechanics. the answer must lie in between

  • @Stuckherewithyou

Objects in space can't travel faster than speed of light, but this limitation doesn't apply to space. If two objects are stationary but space between them is expanding faster than speed of light we can say that those objects are moving away from each other faster than speed of light.

  • So a red shifting galaxy, farther away than another known red shifting galaxy, will not be going faster no matter how far off it is...just the space between them? I just assume space expands slower at the point of expansion than farther out...Do we use earth as the center for the measurement? or the point of expansion?

  • @Stuckherewithyou due to Relativity we can say that the earth is the center of measurement and expansion, but that is only a frame of reference chosen for convenience.

As I understand it as the rate of expansion increases then a point will be reached where other galaxies are accelerating away at greater then the speed of light... making it impossible for them to be seen. Indeed it is possible that that point has already been reached in distant corners have already accelerated beyond our sight.

  • So there are objects far enough away that they are moving faster than what we understand as the universal speed limit? I guess without someone to pull you over for speeding you keep going... I'm just poking at ideas here.

  • @Stuckherewithyou In a sense yes, at greater distances the rate of change in distance is also increasing. Think of it like three objects: object b is one meter way from object a and object c is four meters away from object a. If you double the distance between the three objects then object b is now two meters away and object c is now eight meters away.

It is the expansion of the underlying space-time that causes distant objects to move away faster then closer objects.

  • so the further objects are away the faster they begin to fly apart? but what if the expansion between objects is the same but not proportional? (like object b would become two meters away, and object c would be 5 meters away, expansion of one unit), just wondering, I just started to learn about dark energy so I don't know much. Also is dark enegy the "stuff" that is theorized to be inbetween particles where there is presumably nothing? (in between electrons and the nucleus of an atom)

  • @Deadly699 as long as the expansion between a and b was the same as the expansion between b and c the total expansion between a and c would still be more the the expansion between a and b.

I do not think that dark energy is the stuff between particles, though at this point it is hard to say exactly what it could be.

  • The expansion of the universe can exceed light speed yes. Because of this, there are some parts of the universe we will never see because we are traveling away from them faster than the light that is being made by them.
