A couple of things wrong with this theory: a) the Borg do not assimilate individuals - they assimilate entire civilizations. 2) assimilation leaves the host assimilant in an alive, if lesser cognizant of former self, state. I think she was hit in the head by the cake topper that the idiot who was trying to get out of the acid rain knocked over, fell into a coma and ultimately perished.
