  • Dude, that riff was one of the worst riffs I've ever heard.

  • hooray for emotion!

  • justin you should do bold as love by jimi!

  • Very cool Justin! Nothing better than Larry Carlton and Steely Dan!

  • @MrDoctorCrane Really? Are you sure? cos i looked before i requested!

  • hi justin your lessons are great, I wish you would stop saying which finger goes on which string though. I think most of your lessons are meant for intermediate and above players who can figure out which finger goes where if you just say which frets and strings are used. there's just not that many ways you can place your fingers. plus you have the video :) and it will make it a lot clearer to understand what you're saying if you only say 2 numbers instead of 3 every time you describe a note imho

  • Hey Justin, great song choice. I could use some help with the rest of this song. Love your vids.

  • Hey Justin , I can find correct tabs for this song. Can you please make a lesson on how to play hold the line solo by Toto?

  • Man this is hard to play and requires practice. You did a great job! I sure would like to learn some more of this song!

  • A big FU to Donald Fagen for creating beautifully complicated music I will always love, but will never be able to play properly. It took my little buddy Justin to go undercover, discover the secret and prove me wrong. Well done Mate! Now, I'm going back to stage 6 of your beginners course where I belong, but, I'll be back!

  • hiiiiiiii

  • Thaanks Justin!

Please more Steely Dan/Skunk Baxter/Larry Carleton stuff!

  • it's funny watching this in the 1911 option...

  • Sorry to ask a non guitar related question, but did you split your lower lip?

The lesson was awesome, just to get back on track.

  • Awesome - I am totally learning this! thank you so much!

  • I like it... it should be jarring but for some reason it works

  • Back from the days when there was talent out there. Thank you Justin.

  • Oh yeah dude awesome call on this one! Aja is a killer album fo sho

  • It's funny how the kids out there don't get this great "old" song. Thanks Justin for this!

  • Sweet. The older set knows & loves S. Dan

  • @JustinSandercoeSongs justin could i make a request for a song? If you have the time i would love to see a lesson on hotel california - by the eagles.

Thanks again Justin for these uploads. You are the best guitar teacher ever

  • @datrandomguyuknow - I am not 100% sure, but I think Hotel California has been requested before and Justin couldn't do it because of the Eagles lawyers..! Rightly, he didn't want to get his ass sued. Crap hey..!

  • @RicIrving Ah man that sucks its such a good song with loads of different guitar bits which are all equally brilliant

  • cool!

  • ur g ist kinda outa tune justin!

  • @schitt123 No, it's not.

  • @schitt123 Sadly it's not actually out of tune... It's just a really weird song :P

  • Love Larry Carlton, thanks for this great riff and would love to see more Steely guitar parts.

  • Excellent! Cheers from Brazil

  • How thick are those stirng, Justin?

  • The song is freakin great. Everything from Steely Dan is genius. But youre tone didnt really do justice lol lose the drive.

  • BS...I love this song, and you are absolutely right. Larry is a monster player. His records are master classes in jazz and blues.

  • "...Did you see them on the river, they were there to wave to you. Could you tell that the empty quivered, brown skinned Indian, on the banks that were crowded and narrow, held a broken arrow?"

  • If people don't know the song, it probably would sound like you were just hitting the wrong notes. Not one to play to impress your friends, exactly, but a good song to test yourself with. There's some very interesting stuff in there to practice with.

  • That's why I like your teaching Justin. You mix it up. For the guys not liking this, that's cool. I don't particularly like Steely Dan either, but I still watch all of his lessons to pick up new ideas. That's what it is about for me, looking for new licks or chords that might help in my playing.

Justin, did you decide to stick with the weekly riffs instead of going back to doing full song lessons?

  • That was quite awesome Justin, and straight from Larry Carlton too! You can't beat that. It sounded dead on but your voice level seemed kind of low. Other than that, some of these commentators must be about 12 years old who picked up guitars from Guitar Hero and just now are looking up from their Hannah Montana mp3 collections. Some embarrassingly ignorant folks. And there's nothing wrong with Hannah Montana either if you like her. Great Job Justin!

  • thats horrible, seriously...sounds like crap

  • Never heard it before. Sounds very particular

  • erh. If i played that first part of the riff people would probably just think i was terrible

  • @Abs9106 AAARGH! kill it with fire!

  • @Abs9106 Well, Justin is awesome, but it REALLY sounds terrible!

  • Have you checked out the Episode of Classic Albums on Aja?
