i got vista sp2 x86 and new version of infrarecorder and its not working. but i remember when it first worked a year ago when i first installed, i thought computer was going to blow.

The .5 version of InfraRecorder has an issue with Windows 7.

After you use it, it hides your desktop icons.

I'm sure this has been explained already but I wanted others to know that just in case it hasn't been stated yet. I just have to simply right click on my desktop and click "show desktop icons" after I use the program.

I'm going to continue using InfraRecorder because it's an awesome program. Hopefully they come out with a fix for that issue.

Why are people bitching about bugs in a program with a current version number of 0.50.0? Expect fluent bugfree operation no sooner then 1.0.0. At least for most normal software, so I expect the same for Infrarecorder.

I just used this program and after closing it the smoke is still there, its as if its part of my desktop background now. there are 2 becouse I just burn 2 dvd's. Why won't it go away? the program is closed.

Now seriously, it looks like a refresh problem, probably related to windows' Aero. Try installing a newer version of Infrarecorder (if there is one) or contact the author and try to solve the problem with him (a good bug report is always great help for the developers).

when it happens try to change your screen resolution to other and then come back to yours. this will refresh the screen,

ensure you've put a blank disc in before clicking OK (you might need to click on the little refresh button)

I'm actually not even a InfraRecorder user, and I like this software. I currently use ImgBurn for burning image-files or Nero. I've just discovered InfraRecorder, and it looks very appealing to me when it comes to looks.

I think this is what the InfraRecorder team was trying to achieve. I think they did a pretty good job if judged by this video presentation.

But I would require that this feature can be turned on and off, and that is set as off by default.

I'm not sure of what this smoking effect belongs to, if it's an extra plug-in that activates this feature or if it's part of the standard software installation, but it' a nice thing. And as an old Windows user I would personally not have anything against having this effect in any Windows desktop environment, especially not in Windows Vista since it makes a nice companion to the Vista Aero.
