When I became commander my friend and I got the numbers to jump from 40ish to almost 60. But because most kids in the corps are from the local base, we actually lose about 35% every year. So it's near impossible for us to keep the numbers.
For a last minute get together, which we call a (Commanders Call) it was fine, straight and to the point, people do need to attend class, and things do come up...great job. C/1LT Ritter Director of D&C/Honor Guard Commander, OB NJ-20002 Lightning Lancers
Also its hard to discipline people when your core is so small its impossible to remove people and the worst you can do is give them demerits and take away activities. Then that fact that we are forced to hold drill team practice at 6AM means almost noone does drill and the only people who do are damn freshman and noone else but me and my co commander are the only upperclassman. Considering all the shit we have to do I'd say we dont do to bad for a bunch of high school kids
Hey don't bash JROTC. Yes theres no denying that that was complete shit. However you cant use it as judge of the program or the kids in it. There are a few kids in our core who put their lives into the core and bust our balls. However you wouldnt believe the BS we have to deal with. With all the damned restrictions and rules the school puts on us then the fact that most of the kids other then the select few dont give a rats ass about the core or how they look and it sucks for those who do.
This only confirms my belief that high school kids aren't ready for any kind of military commitment. This is pathetic, and it demeans the efforts of real ROTC units.
No its not pathetic. this is not for military commitment. This is to make kids leaders and not followers. it shows that kids can be responsible and dont need an authority that is 30 years older then them or even 10. but dont bash on US!
JROTC's position is not to make future soldiers, or military leaders. its basis is for respect and disipline C/1LT Ritter Director of D&C/Honor Guard Commander, OB NJ-20002 Lightning Lancers
