  • They were awesome in the 70's. They gave me my introduction to jazz. This song is originally an instrumental by Dizzy Gillespie's big band (I think). They amazingly captured the riffs of many of the instruments + scatting on top of that!

Plus the vocalese...amazing! (This vid cuts off too soon, check the 2nd album "That's A Plenty"

  • @m97xe The SF Opera House concert recording is sensational.... :-)

  • I would have loved to see the entire performance. This is so incredibly rare. These girls can blow. I remember watching them as a kid on a program called SOUL that came on Sunday nights. (Channel 13). Never heard anything like it since. I still play all of their old blue thumb recordings. This is real talent. You can't fake this. Thank you for allowing me a flashback to a time gone but not forgotten.

  • *AWESOME* Post!!!

  • Thank you so much for posting this!

  • Absolutely fab, but where's the rest?

  • Excellent....

  • I've always love the Pointers. In the 80;s - years after this great song - my roommates would play this song at a high volume to wake everyone up and make them angry. I always loved it - it shows their talent - I can't sing that fast! Love them Pointers!

  • sweet!!! im playing this for jazz camp and we play it half this speed :P

    what record is this from??

  • recently found this record. kickass!

  • word!! dope track!...thanks for the upload.

  • thanks for posting them, people only remember the pop hits but they could do jazz vocals better than anyone else, they were amazing.

  • Yeah back in the 70's, The Pointer Sisters were all about jazz scatting and wearing those thrift store dresses. I'm 25 and have albums from the 70s and 80s for the Pointers. I love them. They are something. When the 80s came the decision to change their jazzy look was made so they would blend in with the 80's pop era. They had to turn their style from thrift store to funky pop diva.

  • @dorindaclarkcole I am 27 andabsolutely LOVE the Pointer Sisters and thier unique style and delivery... thier vintage costumes only addedto thier AMAZING liver performances... U have good taste my friend

  • thank you!!!!!
