@turbofb24 In the real world hp/liter doesnt mean shit. Sure its an impressive engineering feat, but who cares? At the end of the day u have less hp and much less torque. An LS1 is the same price as a rotary motor, it weighs 60 pounds more, 100+hp advantage, double the torque of a rotary, and STILL gets better gas mileage. You can win the hp/liter arguement and we (v8 owners) can win everything else.

Calling an Rx-7 is a ricer is blasphemy. In case most of you know, real racing is not going in a straight line for a 1/4 mile and waiting for a number to pop up on a screen, it's on a circuit. It is truly an embarrassment to be an American after reading most of these comments. The only decent American made V8 are the Ls1-Ls7 motors from Chevy.. Everything else is American made failure and I'm an American and I can admit that.
My uncle has a '37 Chevrolet with a 327 small-block V8 in it (not the stock motor, obviously). One time quite a while ago, he tied into it with an '80s RX-7 going westbound over Mt. Hood on Highway 26. The RX was revving its guts out and banging gears, but on every straight the '37 Chev would rocket by at something like 90-110, depending on how long the straight was. Obviously, the RX had superior cornering to the stock 1937 chassis and suspension, and would gain big in the bends. Fun story.
well in my book the rx7 still did a good job (the motor, not the driver) if it can keep up with a V8. which is still sad to see that "big boy toys" have a hard time beating a little 1.3L motor lol but for the muscle heads i hope you guys know that the rx7 is a track car, not a drag car.

This rx-7 may have a low compression problem because both of these cars are supposed to have virtualy the same 1/4 mile time in factory stock specs. Either that or the Mustang has some minor mods like a cpu flash tune, intake, and maybe an exhaust. I had a driend with a Mach 1 and with just those mods he ran a 13.2, the 7 runs between 13.7-13.9 depending on the year.
anyone can drive a faster car in a straight line, just because you have a mustang beating a 7 in a straight line doesnt make it a faster car, take that to something realistic, with say corners...some call it a racetrack, and youd see a full different story, see what cars "faster" and then when you really want to test your own as well as the cars capabilities, The best motorsport invented "Drifting" would be your next option...and again the 7 would undoubtedly conquer again

The fd rx7 came twin turbo. You actually make more power with a big single. I'd bet the fagstang has some significant modifications. Considering my 7mgte supra can take a stang from a roll all day and the rx has more power and significantly less weight than my fat old supra it should take a standard v8 stang wouldn't ya say. Let's throw a t88, fuel system, standalone, and some bpu's on the rx and go again.
@Grappler130 that might be but stock mach1s spin 330hp. so thats around 9.76 - ford under-rated them after the recall on 01 cobras, and stopping production in 02. the 03 mach and terminator cobras were with a revised 32 valve--so to be safe they kept hp #s down, but they pull hard right past 6000rpm

Rx7 276hp on stock turbos at 2830pounds = 9.75hp per 100 pounds
Mach1 305hp stock at 3380 pounds = 9.02hp per 100 pounds
If both cars are stock the Rx7 should win assuming the driver knows how to shift/drive/stay in powerband...

Keep in mind F1 cars have less than 250ft-lbs of tourqe and have no problems going fast ;)
