  • i just sneezed.

  • I'm fi-yi-yi-yiinee. Thanks Streetlight Manifesto. :D

  • OK think of it this way catch 22 is basicly streetlight manafesto but catch 22 souds worse so streetlight is like a level x10 since the songs are all the same and writen by the same guy

  • Fucking flaming horns.... EPIC!

  • who cares if the song was ripped off if it sounds amazing?? seriously idc who wrote it originally. if its a good song, ill listen to it. just enjoy the great music

  • @Brmul12 Tomas wrote it originally, and he moved from Catch 22 to Streetlight Manifesto, and so, he is the owner of all songs that he wrote. Just see what Robocrat said.

  • They're playing in NY in February 2011 :D i'm going!!

  • I totally forgot about this comment because it doesnt matter to me

  • i used to listen to the trio... their mediocre now seethers just terrible though

  • @JordanRCCLShow then why are you on this video?

  • @AnimationAnimater12 Dude he's just trying to piss people off like every other troll on youtube just ignore him.

  • @JordanRCCLShow Gross? Maybe some ska, like any other genere can be every once in a while, but this was just beautiful.

  • :) all good ska bands rip off pachelbel at one point ore another, who cares though when it's this good

  • this band are fuckin awsome!!!

  • I was buying streetlight tickets and i was late so it was sold out...... I got sad so i went to go listen to streetlight

  • This song made me want to be a (trom)boner.

  • Not bad, but Catch 22 all the way.

  • @halosparton that is Tomas ya know from Catch22 and btw Streetlight is better Catch is kay but in the end quite a peice of poop....shit

  • @TheSynisterxX lol really? I am not here to argue about it. I like Catch 22 better, just my preference. You like Streetlight better? Cool. Same song, same type of music... both are good. I just like Catch 22 a bit better is all.

  • @halosparton wow im sorry i was really mad when i commented i didnt mean to be a jerk :O

  • @TheSynisterxX lol nah you weren't being a jerk. I just didn't like your last sentence comparing Catch 22 to shit haha. Truth be told, I don't listen to much ska. I listen to Punk Rock/Alternative a lot more. Seether, Alkaline Trio, Tool... etc. Thanks for replying though ^_^

  • @halosparton I like Catch22 a lot! And i also listen to every single band you just listed

  • @TheSynisterxX Even Alkaline Trio? Wow, that's a first for me xD . Most people when I mention them have no clue who I am talking about :D

  • *dances and shuffles*

  • 2:26 Mad Trombone skillz

  • @CptShinanigans91 holy jesus yeah

  • I prefer catch's.

  • I like more the catch version

  • im tired of reading all these "influences" this is just REALLY GOOD FUCKING MUSIC

ps: its some of the only little we have left

  • catch 22

  • @coooliox27 um, actually it was written by Tomas Kalnoky and Tomas had complete ownership of the song...so If you want to get technical, it's Tomas' song, not Catch or Streetlight's

  • @Otherien If you want to get technical actually the basis of the song was written by Johann Pachelbel in the 1600's but.....

  • @coooliox27, why do you speak of thing's of which you have no idea?

Tomas Kalnoky was the lead singer of Catch 22, he wrote all of their songs, he then left Catch 22 to go to college.

Later he started Streetlight Manifesto, there he re-did all HIS songs with his new band.

  • @Bobalukey Like, dude, I know. I have Keasbey Knights by Catch 22 and both of Streetlight's albums. Tom Kalnoky is, like, my idol.

But it just annoys me that people credit Streetlight for Keasbey Knights. Like I said, Kalnoky just made it as a big "fuck you" to Catch 22. Even if Kalnoky wrote it, the members of Catch performed it first and they should get credit where credit is due.

  • @coooliox27 Part of the reason why Streetlight re-recorded the songs is because the quality of Catch 22's album was crap, though. And let's face it - it was. Ocassionaly I like that 'old crackly sound', but when it comes down to it, it's simply a lower quality than Streetlight's recordings.

  • @coooliox27 yea thomas was in Catch 22 when Keasby Nights was first released. so he owns the songs. Then things happen and the band split and streetlight was formed and Catch 22 got new members and started playing the songs from keasby nights that thomas wrote. The new Cath 22 was gonna re-release keasby night with just a new cover and such. and not actually re record it. so streetlight beat them to it and actually re recorded it. streetlight is awesome

  • Comment removed

  • @coooliox27 isnt both bands the same lead singer.. catch 22 just broke up after the release of the first keasbey nights than he redid the album with his new band streetlight

  • @coooliox27 he was catch 22 idiot

  • @coooliox27 catch and streetlight have the same singer..

  • @coooliox27 hhaha get your facts right dumbass.

  • @coooliox27 the reason it sound exactly the same is because the singer wuz the one who wrote it then he rage quit frum catch 22 then join streetlight

  • @coooliox27 same dude in both bands fruit cup.

  • Throwback.

  • this is so good it makes me want to not punch a baby in the face

  • Streetlight pwns mainstream shit music. <3

  • this s good ska,pnk,pop,litte rock like n.d specials madness,fishbone,e.t.c lll

  • so this is punk? it seems more like rock or something.

    STRRELIGHT MANIFESTO IS AMAZING

every time i listen to one of these songs someone thinks im weird but its way better then the crap on the radio

  • @michaelk123eh It's Ska, not punk.

  • @InaneIntelligence its hardcore jazz, not ska tomas said it himself

  • @tito720 I'm almost positive this is SKA music with jazz/punk influences.

  • @amer1canj3sus well its actually punk with jazz/ska/classical/folk /acoustic/rock/reggae influences. And i think jazzcore fits better since most of the members are in fact jazz musicians.

  • @tito720 no i think SKA then punk then jazz fits best

  • @bideomanlol but there is so little ska influence in there music how can u say that

  • @tito720 its ska music what you talking about

  • @InaneIntelligence i thought they were skapunk

  • pachelbels cannon!! great song, one of my favorites

  • this is by far my most fav song it kicks ass

  • fuck this...the Catch 22 version is sooooooo much better

  • @reaper3095 i think im gonna punch you right in the mouth

  • @reaper3095 bull shit it is.

  • @reaper3095 dude its the same band

  • pachabels canon is everywhere! xD now i kno what the dude who made the rant feels. that video is hilarious. anyway, Streetlight is raw! i havent stopped listening to them since i started listening lol

  • listen to those fucking drums, epic

  • Fuck, he sings damn fast:P

  • haha, genius!

The used the canon from Pachabell ! xD

    Those people are genius xD

  • I don't care what it's based off it's a fucking amazing song!! i think i'll listen again:)

  • Fucking streetlight, I will never stop listening to this, Streetlight for ever.

  • @iknowstuff1 100th like :)

  • HEY!? ...Do My Ears Decive Me? That's Pachebels Cannon! Or... the D major scale played backwards... :p

  • ye i hear it too, its actually in quite a few songs haha,

  • ...They're playing Canon

  • Thats not exactly something new, or bad... watch pachebel rant, like everysong has that pattern in it.

  • partially because it's just a popular chord progression, but more particularly because this song is about a wedding. But since the lyrics arent very clear on that using Pachelbel's Canon was an indication of that

  • How is it about a wedding? The lyrics make it look more like (the aftermath of) a funeral to me. "Won't somebody tap her on the shoulder 'tell her life goes on?".

  • the pachelbels cannon thing always made me think of a wedding situation where they still love eachother but she's marrying somebody else. thats how i've always understood it

  • I think they based the song on Pachelbel's Canon in D for the same reason it's generally used in graduations: the sequence sounds wistful, peaceful, and a bit introspective, which fits with the lyrics of the song.

  • This is their best song!

  • Who cares?

  • catch 22 far Superior to SM

  • @ghostofonyx51 same song writer, vocalist, and extremely similar instrumentals saying one is better then the other is like complaining that 2/3 is better then .6 repeating

  • @cheesemuffin778 lol im not the only math neerd who though that was really funny.......i hope

  • Me'za didn't do Math. Explain repeatingz pleaz.

    Despite the typing, seriously, gogo.

  • please streetlight manifesto is ska on steroids!

  • Random pachelbel canon in there?

  • <3 this song can't stop listening to it =)

  • YEAH!

  • streetlight is BEAST.

if you have a problem then gtfo

tomas wrote al the songs and sang them

  • call me retarded but i just made the connection between the second melody and the pachabel cannon. shiiiit xD

  • lol its genius right?

  • hahahahah !!!! :D

  • Muse is God.

    Streetlight is Jesus.

  • lmao this is almost true except for the fact that muse neither spawned streetlight nor is it similar in any way lol

  • Thank you!!

  • C22 v.>SM v.

Less obnoxious and much more energy, also do I even have to say how much better Chris Greer is at drumming than Chris Thatcher was...I can actually hear the C22 Keasbey drums...I can't tell if that's due to the extra obnoxious trumpets or him just plain sucking.

The above pretty much applies to the rest of this re-release album, ESPECIALLY RtFW...Why do you try to fix what wasn't broken Tommy K.?

  • completely disagree - but I do like C22 version of day in day out better. The vocals are a lot more spirited. however, the SM version of day in day out added different lyrics to the second verse which rhymed in the same way instead of repeating the same thing - which actually sounds really good.

  • @Clickthisprofile WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU SMOKING?! catch 22 was unorganized, terrible recording quality, and shitty players. just listening to the catch 22 version of walking away, the beginning bass makes me want to throw up. Streetlight manifesto is totally cleaned up and amazing players. i should know, im taking sax lessons with jim conti from streetlight. and to say that chris greer is better than chris thatcher! have you heard heres to life? of streetlight version of riding the 4th wave?

  • obnoxious trumpets? you sir can die in a fire!

  • obviously you have never even listened to ska.... otmq....gawd

  • Then you are not listening if you can't hear the drums. I like Catch22's Keasbey Nights better, that is my opinion and not every shares it. I grew up listening to Catch 22's version and not Streetlights, they are both great it really just depends on which you heard first.

  • You sir, are most certainly the likes of fuckhead the world will never see again.

  • Yeah if "fuckhead" means people who offer sensible ad hominem free opinions then yes I guess I am this dying breed you refer to as "fuckhead". Let's stay on topic like the rest of the people here, what part of my comment did you see as distasteful?

  • Hm -- the part about not hearing the drums, and the presupposition that if you heard catch first youll like that. Been listenin to Catch/SM a looooooong time and i definitely disagree. But All of this is besides my "point" (if you can call it that), SM > Catch in every way, especially from a technical standpoint. Catch is bland in comparison, both bands are good but SM is WAY better.

  • SM is more technical without a doubt, but Catch has much more energy, calling them "bland" wouldn't be correct at all. This album always struck me as power over finesse and SM's other albums makes it clear that they are definitely a finesse band, Catch back then was a bunch of high-spirited teenages all they had to their name was power and energy. This album just suits a youthful band better to me, SM are more professional.

  • Eh I agree with the youthful sound but as a musician chances are that I'll always be on the side of technicality. That and I think SM's originals blow Catch's out of the water. Keaseby was good 'n all but Everything Goes (went?) Numb is waaaaaaaaaaay better but thats just my opinion. Either way, to each his own. SM does undoubtedly have faaaar better musicians though ;). Lol k I'm done. Promise this time.

  • Oh my god. You just totally defined my full feelings on this subject. Holy hell, thankyou for living.

  • I'm gonna make this the theme song for my animation series I'm starting. This is such a freaking awesome song.

  • fun stuff

  • I love this song. Makes me wanna skank till my heart stops in the middle of a pit.

  • FUCK MUSE just stop talking streetlight is the greatest ska band ever.....bitch

  • whatever it's your opinion, i NEVER said streetlight sucked though, you just imply that i did... but watever.

  • Muse is incredible, it's a real shame if you can't appreciate them =/

But streetlight is definately the greatest ska band ever :D

  • @RevangeOfAllThings

    ey fuck you buddy

  • at the end makes wanna run for miles with a smile on my face!!/\_/\

  • he probably didnt deliberatly rip it off but it is probably based on it, because theres two types of artists these days. those that admit they got their ideas from listening to other artists. and then those that are too damn proud to admit it

  • I find it funny how people carry on arguments.

Just shut the fuck up and enjoy the music

  • fucking brilliant. First time I've heard this, this was wonderful. I love the Pachelbel in the middle

  • what is this song about?

  • "Won't somebody tap her on the shoulder 'tell her life goes on" should pretty much say everything. For as far as I understand it, it's about a girl that is suffering from a trauma of some kind - the world doesn't stand still however and the singer is telling her 'life goes on'.

  • BLACKANDWHITEANDPURPLE!

  • 3rd Kalnoky song I hear Pachelbel's Canon in (of course the composition is alluded to in soooo many songs now a days)

    1. This

    2. We Are The Few

    3. One Tin Soldier (which Kalnoky didn't technically write).

  • u are right. the pachebel chord progression is a popular progression in many punk songs.

  • Haha speaking of Punk in relation to pachelbel's chord progression, if you listen to Greenday's Basket Case it sounds similar to this progression, but slightly varied or not exactly the same.

  • wow a ska band that has some classical music in there music XD awesome^_^

  • the key change and melody at 1:19 and on is such a rip off of pachelbel's canon in D-Major. It's the exact same thing actually, then it ends at 2:06 rather abruptly.

  • that was on purpose

  • obviously

  • which is what makes it so ska

  • didnt they do the same for if and when we rise again?

  • maybe- I haven't heard that one

  • Not the same, but from what I hear there is an allusion to a different classical piece in If and When We Rise Again.

  • yeah^_^ muse did the same with a peice from chopin XD

  • XD yea muse is awesome and matt has like a 4 octave range lol

  • DUDE I NO RIGHT! its absolutley crazy

  • It's not even a reference, it's essentially a ska-tized version of Hungarian Dance No5. And it's AWESOME

  • It's not a rip-off dumbass, it's a tribute.

  • Yeah, it pretty much is. ^___^

What reason would Tomas Kalnoky have for "ripping off" a famous classical piece? None, he didn't rip it off, it's an allusion to Pachelbel's canon, I love Canon, and that's why this is one of my favorite streetlight manifesto songs. I'm sorry for calling you a dumbass, I get a bit defensive when people talk smack about a great band. . .

  • Comment removed

  • i like streetlight, and i like catch 22, but in my opinion keasbey nights era catch 22 was better than both of em. they were better united.

  • New Catch bites.

  • What does it matter which band is better, they're both awesome. Enjoy the music.

  • Streetlight is better than catch.

And this is a better recording of on and on and on,

    much clearer. Thanks Thomas.
