  • Nice. Like the new grips?

  • @austinguy23 Thank you. I did too, at first, but after working with the weapon, it feels a little too narrow, but I'll keep trying to make them work.

  • Didn’t know they made 18 round mags. Is it wider? Bought 2 - 226's, (police turn-ins). Took em apart, cleaned w/ Hoppys, blew em out with air. Did that twice, used spray gun oil, got pretty saturated everywhere, & blew out. Put drops of oil on the rails. They looked nearly new. I love em both they are so accurate. I like everything about the 226 especially the de-cock, instead of a conventional. In panic mode will you remember? First pull, you’ll know. Where can I buy the maintenance pad shown?

  • @onewhocares2010 To the best of my knowledge, Sig Sauer doesn't make an 18 round magazine, and if I said that, I am dead wrong. My apologies. My P226 magazines are 15 round. My personal opinion, if I may offer, is if you even so much as question whether or not you will remember to use the de-cock lever, you would do well to purchase same weapon in DAK. I own several DAKs across the Classic line, and they are quite nice. I found the bench mat on eBay. Thanks.

  • You're making me nerves with you're shaky hands . You'll make the gun go off by accident .

  • @JR12345111 It is what it is. You can always simply...not watch if that will make you feel better. I've managed well all these years.

  • Sorry about your dad that sucks. Great video and nice guns

  • @airsoft787 Appreciate it.

  • I am sorry for your loss, I lost my Dad in 1999. I just can't believe it has been 12 years now. I like how you used the phrase 'a process of life'. Best wishes for you, thanks for the videos. I own 2 SIGS, a SP2022 (9mm) and a P226 (40 S&W) with the rails. I love both of them. I had a P229 w/o the rail I traded it, thanks for the videos. I am thinking of having the 2022's slide refinished, the Polymer frame is holding up very well, do you detail strip the slides when cleaning, what did it cost?

  • @ldgrey1963 Hi, and thank you for the nice words.

I just became a Sig Sauer Armorer this past Thursday. I never knew how simple a complete detail strip and reassembly of a Classic "P" series pistol is. Until then, I had always returned my weapons to the custom shop every 5k rounds for detail strip, cleaning, lube, spring replacement and reassembly. Will be doing that myself now. Detail strip and recoat of slide with Nitron was north of $200. But it is worth it if you have have old Sigs.

  • @weaponocd

I was wondering, how much did it cost you to take the SIG Armorer course. I would like to learn the detail strip for the SP2022 (9mm) and the P226 (40 S&W). I have fired 1000's of rnds in the 2022 and I would like to check out the firing pin channel for carbon buildup. I am not having any issues with either, just want to do some PM on both weapons. The nitron is wearing off of the 2022 do you know is that is a Stainless or carbon slide? Thanks for all of your help.

  • @ldgrey1963 Hi, and thank you very much for your questions. The Armorer's Course for Sig Sauer Classic Pistols, which is oriented toward P220, P226, P229, and P239 costs $395.00. I'm certain learned skill sets cross to other platforms such as P6/P225, P11/P228, and P245, but I'm not sure if the same holds true for SP2022. Unless the SP2022 slide is marked "STAINLESS," it is a safe bet it is a carbon steel slide, but please, ask an Armorer who has dealt with that weapon system to verify. Thx.

  • Thanks for sharing. Very nice video ... love the P229! I have one also ... wonderful firearm ... beautiful pistol to shoot! (It's a Sig ... nuff said.) Sorry for the loss of your dad. I lost mine too (in May of 2008.) I still think about him everyday. (RIP to both your pop and mine...)

  • @dcselwitz You're welcome, and thank you for the kind words. Even though I have two P239s, I still like to use my P229 as a CCW on occasion. It, and my P226, are practically brand new since returning from the Sig Sauer Custom Shop. They're both VERY good weapons. Been with me for a long time, and they aren't going anywhere. Thanks again.

  • I had a sig p229 40 cal, I purchased brand new september 2010, and I'm too embarrassed to say why I don't have it anymore, but after watching your videos, I will have one again soon!

  • @thenowandaway Yeah, I have some very SIGnificant personal reasons why my Sigs, especially my P226 and P229 are special to me. While they were gone to NH for this Custom Shop work, it was like a part of me was missing. Hang on to them, man! Sigs are like an old true friend. They'll never let you down.

  • @17JH17 Thanks much for the condolences. One day at a time. That's all we can do. Glad you like the video. Thank you very much for the subscription.

  • @TheArmoryGuild I had a two fold reason for getting them on my P226. First, the original grips were shot. They were all gummy, like someone had tried to clean them with MEK or acetone or some other ketone type solvent. Second, I was curious about them, and wanted to try them. They're "OK," but like you, I prefer the polymer grips that Sig Sauer fielded between the original German grips and the new E2 grips. I haven't shot the weapon yet, so the grips may grow on me. We'll see.

  • @TheArmoryGuild Thanks. I agree. And even opening the box when I got 'em back was like getting a new Sig. These are the oldest weapons in my arsenal, and the ones to which I'm most attached, so I'm happier than a slopped hog to have them back home now, and thrilled that they look so nice, yet still appear to be as smooth as they've always been. Looking forward to Friday and going to the range. Depending on how well I like the E2 grips on my P226, I might send my P229 back for same grips.

  • Sorry to hear about your father! Great video! The refinish looks great on the slides. I had an old p225 for a while.....man it was beat up....used and abused....but it was a very reliable pistol! Kinda wish I hadn't got rid of it. I plan on another Sig in my collection though! Interested in seeing how the triggerwork turned out. Take care.

  • @Georgiapine2A Thanks man! Each day gets a little less "dreary." Today was a pretty good day. I got my old friends back from The Custom Shop. Nitron refinish on both slides looks just like a new Sig slide. They were rough looking before. Background on my channel page is a "before" picture of my P226. I can't let go of my weapons. I get attached to them. I'd love to have an old P6 or P225, or even a P228. Gotta P245 on the way. Will report on both weapons after going to the range Friday.

  • sorry for your loss man! good to see you back with another great vid.

  • @mancintheusa Thanks man. One would think, since we knew Dad was terminal, that it wouldn't "hurt" as much as one would expect. Nothing is further from the truth. I miss him. On day at a time. Much appreciate the condolences and the view. L8R!
