  • Very cool thanks

  • Don't play in Drop D very much, but when I do, i'd rather stick to stuff like Lamb of God and Opeth (:

  • @bass164 Don`t think Sabbath ever used drop..Iommi used E standard and C# more or less on everything, as far as i know.

  • One song, three words. SPOON MAN !!!!!

  • if u do Db tuning u better have down with the sickness in there or else ur gunna make me !rage!

  • Duncan hills coffee jingle

  • Wheres Nirvana's Heart Shaped box?? And SOAD's Lonely Day?

  • @wakpy heart shaped box should definitely be on here but lonely day is drop c tuning not d

  • @2ndCrysis Heart shaped box is drop C#

  • make me famous

  • you should be deported to a far away land for including creed and nickelback on this list

  • xaxa rammstein rifs ? funny list

  • As a Canadian, I'm protesting the nickelback. You can replace that with Alice in Chains dam that river, excellent rock tune, thx uploader

  • a7x ?

  • "You Think You're (John Fucking Lennon)" by Glassjaw and "Speechless" by Helmet has some classic Drop D in those songs too, they are just so epic!!

  • Surprised The Thing That Should Not Be isn`t here :P

  • where is Pantera --> new level ? :D

  • @wikialphamen128 Pantera didn`t use Drop tunings, Dime only played Drop in Damageplan.

  • @donSparda yes??? I didn't know. In which song for example?

  • @wikialphamen128 I don`t know any Damageplan songs, i`m aware that Pantera didn`t use any drop tuning.

  • line 6 guitar ftl that sucks

  • where the hell is walk?

  • @Danthrax11 walk isnt in drop D

  • it's good that he included killing in the name, or else i might have had to get my trololol on

  • Dear Prudence . . . was that the first song to be in Drop D?

  • are you using a pedal?

  • awesome Thanks man !!!!!!!

  • Tool anyone? Parabola is the only song by them that isn't in drop D but other than that Tool songs are all drop D

  • An easier way to tune to drop D is if your in standard just tune to the 7th fret. Much easier

  • Where's All Nightmare Long or Sad But True by Metallica or basically any song from Three Days Grace?

  • @Aticze Sad But True is not Drop D, its tuned to D (every string down a full step)

  • @davedave99999 They play it in Drop D on stage...

  • @Aticze no they dont - not sad but true - which is why they always change guitars for that song (kirk uses the jackson randy rhoads)

  • @Aticze Aren't most TDG songs in Drop C?

  • Plus just about anything from Helmet. And I guess Hey Man, Nice Shot was an honorable mention judging by the end.

  • Where is Hum - Stars? It has the best use of Drop-D tuning you will ever hear!

    Hum overally

  • @soundshards Maybe because it totally sucks donkey balls! Hum think about that.

  • @MrWadestar lol, have you actually listened to it?

  • man... these all kind of sucked... cept zeplin... never zeplin

  • hey its a variax!

  • Line6 Variax woo woo!

  • some of those songs are crap, didn't include better riffs. Tool(all except like 3 songs in off tunings drop B n etc.) beast and the harlot like the top comment says. Arterial Black by drist is a sick drop d riff also.

  • So you have talentless bands like Seether, Nickelback, Creed, and John Mayer yet you don't have Avenged Sevenfold who has some of the greatest drop D riffs of all time?

  • @drummerdo0od Hey, he still showed some zep, foo fighters, and velvet revolver

  • @drummerdo0od None of those bands are talentless. Yes he could have included AX7 but doesn't mean you need to make yourself sound stupid.

  • @tomandz4 Lol fanboy...

  • GREAT WORK...!!!

  • @CDavengedsevenfold It's a pretty common riff. It's also used in Led Zeppelin's Babe I'm Gonna Leave You and Chicago's 25 or 6 to 4.

  • WOW i thought drop d was for heavy stuff i didnt expect this cool :D

  • thanks for showing slither

  • Led Zeppelin! Soundarden! RATM! Bunch of other good bands!

And I never noticed how similar the intro riff of "Last Resort" sounds like the riff of "Brain Stew" by Green Day...

  • really nice examples. Thanks !

  • Ummm...Beast and the Harlot anybody?!?

  • Comment removed

  • u forgot about Goodbye blue sky from pnik floyd :P lets say its more famous than papa roach ;)

  • @math1st yea but is the guitar riff more famous?

  • @Keskusrikospoliisi for my generation, yes

  • Great lesson, thanks!

@Dennizzz119 Sounds like you really know your guitar stuff, Line 6 Variax bad? Wow, you must be quite the Axeman, wish I knew as much about guitars as you, or as little as the case appears to be.

  • That is a rubbish guitar.

  • @Dennizzz119 I bet you said that based on the looks, not based on what guitar it is.

  • @unzpk Nope I tried it, its just rubbish.

  • i hope you know theres a hell of a lot more to "Moby Dick" than what you showed. and yes you showed 10 famous guitar riffs that every guitarist knows and will not make you stand out in any way at a music store. Try learning some Stray Cats or Brian Setzer. that makes people notice you.

  • my own summer - deftones

  • Why not any A7X? D:

  • If it wasnt for Drop D I couldnt play guitar because my fingers are so fat

  • Should call the video '9 famous guitar riffs and a Nickleback'

    :P

  • STORM Name wins :D

  • Thanks for the songs

  • Where the hell is "Beast and the Harlot"?!?!

  • I don't really understand. Drop D is tune the whole guitar in D?

  • @HazaelAlighieri21 No. Drop D is when you take the heavy E string and tune it lower to the note D

  • @HazaelAlighieri21 no...only the thick E ...

  • i really like the method you use for the tabs, I also like how you played nickle back in a slower version, thanks alot for the help

  • for drop d you can harmonize the 7th fret on the low E with the open A

  • Laid to rest is another sick riff in drop d

  • awesome...norwegian or swedish name?

  • gj dude, not to sound like a dick, but imo its a lot easier to play last resort in standard tuning

  • dude , you are awesome.

  • Looks like u have the same life as the rest of us your on utube leaving stupid ass comments @vip whatever

  • get a life and get a haircut guitar ruins ure life trut me u guys have got no life u dicks

  • great video man but you could use a new guitar :P

  • dude my name is storm to lol didnt know anyone elses name was to

  • where are the pickups on his guitar? lol

  • @espguitarguy1 its a variax it doesnt use pickups

  • @espguitarguy1

the line 6 variax. it uses a computer built in to emulate any guitar uploaded to its database? lol idk if im right but thats what i read from a book

  • @espguitarguy1 I ate them.

  • @espguitarguy1 It's a Line 6 Variax modeling guitar. The only pickups are piezos in the bridge all of the sounds just use them as the source for modeling.

  • @espguitarguy1 line6 its a magical guitar with technologies that dont use pickups lol

  • @espguitarguy1 guitars have pickups?:/

  • @MisterTibTib this one does. Piezo. It's a Variax.

  • good tab/ love the led zep :D

  • also try harmonic on 12 fret A and 7 fret E and match pitc it works perfect for me

  • i love that last riff but i can't for the life of me remember what song its from D:

  • @monstermash126 Hey man nice shot by Filter

  • Mm, thanks mate for good lesson :)

  • Lol, at 2:35, have a look at the last bar of the tab. It's like a smiley!

  • Man, I can tell these guys are WAY better then "expertvillage" :o Thanks! :D

  • I've always wanted to see some quick great rock licks for drop D tuning.. This couldn't be much better. Perfect. Very easy to pick up for the intermediate player, and much of it wouldn't be difficult for a beginner .

  • Last Restort isnow in my head :D

  • HEART SHAPED BOX

  • Line 6 makes guitars? ._. I only thought they made amps...

  • COOL, THANKS

  • This guy looks Abit like Dexter Holland from The Offspring LOL

  • You did amazing thank you for this video

  • Damn, these riffs are great! Especially slither :D Thanks

  • i KNEW that an RATM song would be on here

  • that papa roach riff was stolen from iron maiden. i think its "genghis khan" or some song off the killers album

  • haha amazing xD

  • Awh man that was great. am gonna have some fun.

  • Great video thanks alot subed :-D

  • No King's X?

  • Could anyone explain to me how the harmonic method works?

  • @SPYDDET pinch harmonics or natural harmonics?

  • @CoffeeSquib natural harmonics

  • @SPYDDET well if its how you do it...you can just lay your finger lightly over a fret(not pushing down) and play that string. Thats how i do it but im a beginner so i cant do it on alot of strings. Hope that helps (:

  • @CoffeeSquib i know how to do harmonics, but the guy in the video said that there was a method to tune your guitar using harmonics and i wanted to learn how to use that method

  • @SPYDDET oh sorry :S not quite sure

  • Really nice video..

  • BLACKE HOLE SUN!

  • Well I consider myself more of an intermediate player now so I reallly didn't need the lesson, but thanks for giving me some new songs to learn! :)

  • thanks!

  • slither!

  • yeah Led Zeppelin

  • what is kind of amp do u have

  • i have to learn all these songs

  • how do i put my guitar into drop d whats the cords the only one i know is EADGBE

  • @truplaya480 all you do is tune your low E to a D so instead of

    EADGBE it would be DADGBE.

  • I wish i could also play e-guitar l:)))

  • God, finally I have found this. This should be the first vid you see when you search "drop d tuning" Thanks man this lesson is awesome

  • thx i always wanted to know Last Resort

  • @stuntman2962 My favorite Drop D power chord shape used in that one.

  • @guitarteacher drop d is half step down and drop c is whole step down

  • @metalshredder161 No. Drop D is standard tuning with the low E tuned a whole step down. Drop C is the entire guitar tuned a full step down, and then you drop the Low E (or in this case the D) down to a C.

  • @guitarteacher Thing is, that shape is actually A LOT easier to play in standard tuning. It's the same shape in E tuning as a 9th power chord in drop D.
