Very cool, great vocals, came across this in RE when we were doing about Yom Kippur and we all had a good giggle but also learnt the story! Thanks(; great animation too!
Jonahs obligations were different and the jonah of today has obligations, that has been asked of God to save the whale while jonah travels to ninevah that those he has obligations to cannot save their selves nor does the whale know how to pray, or the if the whale were an inanimate object, cannot be told to listen to God, so there for the jonah must appeal one more time to God to save what is left behind while johah goes to ninevah.
@sorenkierkegaard2008 Yeah, it's the traditional synagogue reading for the afternoon service. There are a number of reasons why we read it, probably, and we hit on some of them in the song. 1. No one is out of reach of God's hands, anywhere. 2. Mercy is available if you do teshuva (returning to yourself and the correct path, roughly) 3. Atonement is collective, AND personal. You have to do it both ways. Probably more I could say on this but I only have 30 characters left. :)
