  • thats why you should use double overhand with straps or double hook grip on your heaviest sets

  • snorting the chalk?

  • did he make a full recovery?

  • @RoathRipper yeah he has made a full recovery and changed his sport he now is UCMMA world heavy weight champion and he is now signed up with UFC check him out on you tube ollie or oli thompson

  • @toolbagcentral im paranoid about deadlifting with a mixed grip now. do you think people should just deadlift double overhand with straps? i think thats what im going to do because i tried the hook grip and it felt like i was going to break my thumb and pull it out of place

  • @lovesgibson If you dont do deadlifts for competition and forearm strength you should do double overhand with straps - you work everything just as hard except your forearms which you can work with other exercises.

  • @URAGR8M8 yeah, thats what ive started doing

  • was this the guy on britains hardest

  • Damn i thought my gym was small.

  • have u noticed that those who use their left hand as an under grip in mixed grip r the ones who have torn biceps?

most if not all youtube videos of torn biceps happen to left hand under grip, on the other hand no videos of people who use their right hand as an under grip.

first i thought it's a coincidence or the left hand under grip is more common then i saw most of the top dead lifters use there right hand. can any one explain why?

  • @ahmadx05 my guess is these people are right-handed thus their right arm may have a bit more strength and flexibility, but im sure you can find some people who have torn the right bicep too

  • dont use biceps

  • This is why i always deadlift with poth palms towards me.

  • ammonia tabs?

  • what's your body weight?

  • i fucked my forearm by doint alternate grip at deadlifts and now i do only palms down grip... ;P i still cant do barbell curls for biceps...

  • @freddy692000 Is it just sorness or major pain in your forearm and did it ever go away? I started feeling soreness in my forearm for like 3 weeks and just realized that it is most likely due to alt. grip deadlifts.

  • I would have stopped at 2 reps and then thats it. There is no reason to try and go for a world record. You're not gonna get.

  • @Herhese correction not a world record but to keep going and going and going. When you know you're in deep shit with the weight u just did. Take the plates off, call it a day, you're a beast live to fight another day. Don't have to lift to the point where you're gonna get yourself seriously injured.

  • wtf was he sniffing

  • I know of no way to prevent this injury other than not using the alternating grip. I always use double overhand. My poundages are lower, but my hands are very powerful for thick bar lifting and crushing COC #4

  • what is that your sniffing

  • You should try deadlifting without tearing a bicep, it's much easier

  • @swettybettybob You again? How about showing us how it's done, Einstein?

  • This is so FN stupid. To tear your bicep because of the stupid weight. FN pointless. Recovery blows. I tore my bicep doing preacher curls. Sucks man. Surgery went great, and I am pretty much 100% back now, but the recovery was touch. I couldnt do shit for like 1 year. Bicep atrophied. Couldnt even pick up my bride on our wedding.

SO FK the weights. I go easy now...still in great shape...I only trained for my JUDO.

  • @dmitrypey Hey I agree with you that it's not worth the injury for so much weight. Tore my bicep too recently and I hate the recovery. I'll never do preacher curls, and I'll be extremely careful with pull ups and everything else. Not sure if I'll deadlift again. My bicep looks dead, but I'm not to the point where I can use it again yet. The worst is that my damn wrist won't turn palm down to palm up. Hopefully it comes back next month. Glad you recovered.

  • this doesnt look right at all...

  • How long did his recovery take?

  • doin it all wrong from the first set

  • that is the correct grip for deadlift, its just bad luck.

  • poor guy...

  • yeh dude lay off the juice. muscle gets to strong for ya tendons

  • That sucks hope you get better and come back :) Keep at it great lifts!

  • Hook Grip.

  • it was because you kept jerking your arm at the beginning of your lift, your supposed to use your traps!!!!

  • hahah mate, your bicep didn't agree with you on that lift. Strong stuff, gj.

  • hes too good looking to do mma

  • always the tear happen to the arm with the palm of the hand looking to the front

  • @Yalashaska because thats the arm using the bicep..

  • its called ammonia

  • what is that thing you are sniffing

  • probaly smelling salt, amenoia, nose torque etc.

  • good fukin man power dude

  • Ouch it must hurt..i won't say he is on a steroid cycle but i know that steroids makes your tendons and ligaments tear easy cause your strength from steroids can over power your joints and tendons and cause muscle tears easy the same thing happin to mr olympia dorian yates and he was on a steroid cycle i use to dead lift heavy my self but now i lift very very lite only 455lbs in the dead lift..nice lifting there bro good job...

  • I can deadlift 100kgs (5reps)

  • lol good to know.

  • Hay brother I just did the same exact thing just over a month ago how has your training been going since you tore it. and did you need surgery. my bicept was leaning to the side like your was it sucks but other than that your lifts were very good.

  • yah, let see you just pick it up twice

  • Try lifting 400kg for one rep then tell me you're not impressed

  • OMFG you know shit about powerlifting, MORON!!!

  • does anybody know what song is playing on his first lift?

  • yeah you dont know shit, he's got world-class lifts, I hope his bicep healed up alright

  • Haha, what an ignorant.

  • lol, shows how much you know about powerlifting

  • that looked nasty. good to see him back in bsm. what the stuff he was smelling?

  • emonia (spelling) wakes you up and focused. Sometimes you see football players smellin it right before they start kickoff.

  • It's smelling salts.

  • hahaha

  • Butch Deadlift

  • omfg ouch! that looks painful.

I am sooooo lucky because I have met Oli and have a picture to prove it lol!

  • how long does it take for one of those to heal up?

  • Its so sad that American teenages do not know the difference betweem Ibs and Kg I met Oli twice first time i watched him dead lift 250Kg for 16 reps timed. Then in Bexhill England dominate a strongman comp. He is a big lad but great shape.

    2.2 Ibs = 1 Kg

    if that helps

  • 1- whats the name of the tupac song

2- whats the stuff he sniffs?

    3- amazing.

  • LOL, dont forget, thats 800lbs we need to see

just in case you find the maths a bit too much, just put eight of the big round metal things on the long shiny bar, that'll only be about 750lbs but hey, I'm sure that'll do

    LOL

  • I think bretsammy is kidding either that or he's completely clueless and thinks 400kg is the same as 400lbs. Poor thing doesn't even know who ed coan is. Looking forward to seeing oli at this years britains strongest man.

  • i have a strange feeling that frined of mine is on roids though...although he dosent show the enormous lats that usually get huge from doing those but whatever

  • i dont know anybody named coan.i dont think he has any videos. im not some little jackass just talkin shit believe me or not...whatever i dont care one day if i bring a camera to the wieghtroom one day i tape it ok? but i dont usually tape when im in there....i usually lift

  • i just asked my friend and he says he weighs 230lbs...my friend...not oli

  • so your 230lb mate pulls 400kg? hell, lets round it down to 800lb even

    Is his surname Coan?

    Does he have any videos?

I'm guessing no? but hey, I'm willing to be proven worng (infact if you mate does pull that pundage at that bodyweight I'd LOVE to be proven wrong and will gladly give credit to the man)

YES or NO... the nation awaits LOL

  • he dosent way less than 200 lbs but i didnt know oli only wiehed 200 he looks smaller than oli

  • a friend of mine on my football team is 18 and hes about half your size but he does the same weight hes crazy...hey and why do you guys take ur shoes off when deadlifting extremely heavy weights?

  • do you have a video of you sub 200lb mate lifting 880lb?

    LOL

  • No kidding haha....

  • that looks painful.

  • He is using "Smelling Salts" (e.g. Ammonium carbonate) to clear his head.

  • What's the stuff he's sniffing in between lifting?

  • Cant remember the name of it, but its basically to open the nasal passages fully to allow you to take in deeper breaths easier. Breathing technique being important for lifting :)

  • nose tork, available from jackals gym, google for it

  • Would u need surgery for an injury like that or would it heal itself.

  • Good question... anyone know? I mean, I guess it depends on the severity. I had an Abdominal tear about 1 1/2 years ago. Trainer said to not put any strain and it should heal itself.

  • you dont need surgery, but you will never be the same again and you lose 50% of your suppanation/pronation strength (not sure if i spelt thos correctly). for what we do, its best to get it fixed. i know this because it just happened to me haha

  • what's an abdominal tear and how did you get it? :s

  • Well, you know what your ABS are. And you tear it like any other muscle... putting strain alot of strain on it while it's not warmed up.... I don't remember how I did it. I work construction though. Maybe while I was lifting a propane tank or something???

  • thats a lot of weight! hope he recovers soon!

  • Good luck Oli, can't wait to see you back on IFSA!

  • whats the name of the last song that was playing

  • thugs mansion, anyways this guy is a beast

  • What you have to remember is that the arm he tore was the one that was turned outwards when you do this in dead lifting you arm is under more strain and more likely to come into injury, but ollie is all healed up now and slowly trainning again.

  • Yeah WHite2098 it had to do the bending but if he didnt bend/jerk his arms up he wouldn't of been able to lift that extra weight at the end.

  • i tore my bicep down the pub arm wrestling, it just went after holding some guy up for 4 or 5 minutes...messed my training up big time!

  • dat dude iz british strongest man

  • past tense of tear = tore.

  • I know u probibly know this but It Teared because of that bouncing off the floor.

  • It didnt tear from bouncing the weight of the floor it tore from him bending his arm before he starts the lift and then straightening it out when he moves the weight off the floor

  • Dude

  • pretty good lifting man that was almost 1000 pounds no wonder your bicep tore doesn't mean you're weak though very crazy strength

  • Olly told me about this last night, sounds brutal, i hope you make a full recovery mate, all the best. Aron

  • Hi everyone thanks for nice comments and well wishes, Oli has had a op to repair the damaged muscle today, i will let you know how it goes (im his sister)

  • i tore the same part of my biceo to month ago

  • ridiculous lifting!!!! monsterous! get well soon mate.

  • Was there at the time looked dam painfull

  • never tore one, but strained one and that was bad enough. get well mate

  • ouch.

    Great deadlifting too.

Hope Oli get's sorted and fix soon as.
