  • You're good man. Keep on groovin

  • @wallythedrummer

Thank you so much! Tempo accuracy could have been improved a lot, thanks though!

  • tune your snare , friend!!!

  • It's more a problem of miking ignorance. I've got to get into it!

  • Good job bjorn.Nice groove,good timing,good taste hahaha.Hello from the Netherlands

  • Thank you so much! I tried to humanize that drum machine track somehow. Cheers!;)

    Bjorn

  • This drummer is the essence of being in the groove..

  • Yes, the musicality in ideas and their interpretation is the backbone in westoast music. As the original track was recorded with a drummachine I tried to offer my approach of the drumming for this tune. Thanks for the comment ;)

  • I'd wish the original track had been recorded with at least a real drummer.. For me, Westcoast Music has always been enjoying the skills of the musicians playing. I don't understand why Jay Graydon has chosen to do all this programming over the last years. I've seen Pat Mastelotto of Mr.Mister doing this live, but he was a little heavy. I like your sparkling drive on the hi-hat! It feels as light and easy as the original, but with the human touch which is missing on the record!

  • Wow! I'm late to reply, but I appreciate that observation! I don't get it neither. And it's not any drummer ego. I don't like the programming thing, because what I love too is the musical skill required in westcoast to play tasty. Would anybody replace Jeff Porcaro or Steve gadd??. Thanks for the nice words! ;)

    Take care!

  • I appreciate your point of view on this.. We all know the skill level of this man, but real people on bass and drums would have made a huge difference on this track. This drummer has already demonistrated that very nicely! .

  • @lclaughton

Yes. I don't know why this didn't happen. i find this track very nice to play on;) Thanks for the comment, although the tempo could have been improved!

  • Wow! Great feel and drive, great music taste also ;)

  • Thanks a lot! It was my attempt to try to play the original drm machine track in a musical way. I'm glad to read there are still people enjoying this genre. Thank you, and happy new year!

  • Great stuff dude - you are so locked in here!!!

  • Great playing, nice one. I love the tune but can't find it, can you confirm the album it's on?

  • Hi! Thank you so much. The song pertains to Jay Graydon's album "Airplay for the planet" (1993), and it's called "Holding on to love".

Glad to hear some people are interested in this stuff!

  • jay graydons my uncle

  • you have one of the coolest soloing guitar playing uncles..the worlds has seen.

  • haha thanks, i just wish more people knew about him so he could get the attention he deserves. but its good to see hard-core musicians like yourself staying loyal to artists like jay.

  • @Amannn13

Yes, it's incredible! A lot of Pro guitarists in Spain don't know him, when he has inspired other greats like Luke. Sad but true, he's not been paid the attention he deserves, no doubt. Thanks for the comment;)

    Bjorn

  • I play guitar but as a spectator, I prefer watching the drummer; something that isn't really done in today's media.

    So I appreciate this. Thanks.

  • Wow! That isn´t something you hear very often. I apreciate it. I like when all can be watched in an equal way, as jazz ensembles on the scene.

    thank you for the comment!

    Bjorn

  • Nice playing, even though there isn't any song with "real" drumplay on the "Airplay for the planet" album (which i think is one of the many reasons why the album is so uniq and nice) But you still did it good, Cheers!

  • Thats Realy good you know!!

  • you are absolutely awesome! watching you play the drums actually blew me away! your too good man!

    mat

  • wow! It shouldn´t hahaha! Thanks so much for the comment man. However the snare is very high in pitch and volume (as voderick said) and the backbeats should be more accurate.

    Thanks man!;)

    Bjorn

  • the center drum is to high in pitch

    my point of view :)

  • wow, that was great are you in a band?? (you should be!) keep making video's (nice shuffle)

  • Great playing, nice to hear West Coast music

again! By the way, what cymbal setup and drums do you use when recording?

  • Thank you so much! I discovered this music a couple of years ago. Nice and encouraging. my setup is 22" kick, 10", 12" toms and 16" floor tom. All Mapex M pro. I borrower a Black panther copper snare for this recording. Ride is a 22" Paiste sound creation dark ride, crashes are Sab's, AA and AAX (16 & 18) 14" Paiste alpha hats, 10" Paiste alpha splash and Paiste 2002 18" China!

    Bye!;)

    Bjorn

  • One of the best West Coast AOR songs ever, and you play it really good =)... I'm also a drummer n I love playing Graydon tunes

  • Wow! Some Westcoast fans still alive out there! hehe. It's just such a nice feeling you get from playing it or listening to it... I've got several TOTO and gino Vannelli clips as well, you may enjoy them. Thanks for the comment!;)
