  • damnthis guy is the real deal :O DUDE i need alot of help :(

  • whoa its howard the duck as a human

  • Thanks dude! Itks very helpful, i need this every time, when i build the wheel.

  • I don't get it ..Why not just measure from the hub to the outer wheel ..am I missing something here?

  • Yes, you are missing something! The spokes don't go straight down to the outer wheel (most of the time?), but with an angle so that the spokes cross each other (lace?), crossings seem to make structures more rigid. But that's all I know about this... I just found out I need to buy 36 new spokes because my new hub is of a different size :'( .

  • Wow! This is good to know, thanks.

  • Problem with shorter spokes:

under tension and usage the spokes will rip out of the nipples (especially from alu nipples).

Solution: use longer nipples avalilable in 14mm and 16mm DT Swiss or Sapim for a good choice.

Problem with longer spokes: you can't pull the spokes to enough tension, because you will run out of spke thread in nipple. Also the spokes will poke out from the nipple causing puncture to the tube inside the tire.
