I remember seeing those oil wells when I was a kid in the late '60s. We used to go to the Pike (just west of Downtown L.B.) at night (believe it or not) and from the Pike I could see those fake oil well islands all lit up.
I suppose I am a NIMBY because I don't want most offshore drilling. Why? Because in spite of this video, most offshore drilling is not super clean and does not look like tropical islands. One good example of drilling does not prove your case. Try walking the beaches around Santa Barbara without getting oily blobs all over your feet. Thumbs up for Huell Howser. Thumbs down for the poster's unnecessary name calling.
I live 2 blocks away from where Huell is standing in the beginning.
