  • this is a very hauntological video

  • Wow. Nostalgia just hit me quite hard in the face.

  • This makes me want to curl up in a ball on the floor and try to wish myself backwards about twenty years.

  • @Dr0ctave why?

  • it's soo civilized!

  • Very good morning to you. The day started on Monday. Cheerio.

    Well, there you go!

  • @MattWindsor91 hahahahahahahahaha funny

  • It's quite funny how you've clipped out the main part of the weather report and then the women says 'well there you go' it really fits !

  • Rob looks so old now! And I don't remember the old BBC squares logo being used as late as 1997, I thought it was stopped in around 1995 and replaced with the modern one.

  • They replaced the logo on Saturday 4th October 1997, I know where you're coming from, the slanted box logo looked very dated for 1997.

  • I'm sure I read somewhere that the slanted box logo was using on BBC2 until 2001?!?!

  • BBC 2 Water Reflection Ident Leading Into Weather With Rob McElwee and The The Clock 1.59Am And The Closedown With Jane Westrop and then 25 seconds of Paint Ident

  • Is it me or did the weather man look like Ben Elton ?

  • While the ident being played at the closedown is Paint, the one at the start of the weather forecast is Water Reflection, which was dropped at the corporate change that October.

  • robin, how do you know that when the catalogue's gone offline?

  • poor rob looks like a nerd in those glasses

  • This is from Saturday 22nd February 1997 - or more specifically the early hours of Sunday 23rd.

  • Didn't they have a Ceefax Service

  • Nope, about ten minutes after this the Transmitter would be switched off right until about 30 minutes before the first programme of the day, then after ten minutes of the Testcard you would then get Ceefax.

  • @returnofthesosolid This didn't start until 1998 when the practice of shutting down the transmitters on BBC2 stopped.
