I've performed this at the funeral for one of my grandfathers and one for a dear friend of mine. It FLOORS people with how powerful of a song it is.
They always ask me where it came from and I'm quick and more than happy to tell them where they can find it. Its one of those amazing pieces of music that has more power than some words can say.
What a beautiful man!!! I lost my mum to cancer in 1995... I knew the song before, but since that time I love it!!! One of the most beautiful and touching songs of the world...Thanks to Rick!
I lost my dad at 17 and like Ricks Dad Norman he had a chair he always sat in, it is at my mothers, Dad visits her often...I connect with this song .....
This song touched me the first time I ever heard it and now I understand even more why it touched me ... it touched my heart and soul August 3, 2007 when I lost my Mom to cancer. :-( I am always expecting my Mom to come through the door whenever wwe are celebrating birthdays ... she was the birthday cake specialist. I miss you Mom!
When I get sick from the smell. I love that line. I no longer have my Dad's Chair, but I climb into The Chair in spirit, whenever I think of him and need his help. We all have our lost loveone's with us all we need do is sit in their Chair.
I remember listening to this song as a teenager and I always loved it. I lost my dad to cancer 10 months ago and this is the first time I've heard this song since. I cried all the way through it...thank you for posting this song...it means so much more now than it did 20 years ago.
awesome post ty...i lost my mom and my dad to cancer. i recall listening to this song many times over. what a class human being he is. i will always be a fan
i met him and hes the coolest down to earth guy anybody could ever meet, i said i loved my fathers chair and he said you rock and signed autographs all night for us, hes a true class act......
I was always touched by this song for Rick's Father. Then when my Father passed from cancer on Thanksgiving day 2002 the song hit home and so many of us now share in this song together. This song is beautiful and my Father too had his favorite chair .Right in front of the TV with that good ole remote.
Thank you Rick for sharing your heart with us ! Love you 4 ever papa.
This song has meant so much to me especially since my father's death in 2002. My father had a special chair too and me, my mother and my brother were all there when he passed. thank you Rick. you don't know what this song means to me.
To all of us that has lost a father. He died on October 15th, 2005. Then I lost my mother in April 9th, 2006. To have 2 great loses in that short of a time really takes alot out of you. My dad's favorite chair was the one in front of the tv. Nobody sat in that chair after he died.
this song reminds so much of my dad michael clement that i lost april 24 2004 i am a daddy's little girl and always will be this is my favorite song in the world and my favorite singer in the world to i love rick forever just like my dad love you both so much cathy from allentown pa
I luv this song, and my mum too.She said that it sounds like church song...She meant the piano version from the 80s. The song is very sad, but beautiful as a remembrance of someone`s death.
I was there!!! Was this the 1998 Tucson Classic??? Thanks for posting...and do you have more from that night? Ok....I think I hear my big mouth in the background!!!! Great song, great great great great............!
