@ThePdiddles We are talking about simple vocal music no major instruments (violin and cimbalom) for much of early european history. It's not a coincidence that before the great gypsy migrations of the late medieval period you had madrigals and church music and then during renaissance all of a sudden you have a flourishing of instrumental styles and couples dances. Much of that was initially banned by the church, deemed "immoral" because it was the culture of migrating gypsies.

I would tend to believe that yes, local Hungarian, Romanian, Russian folk music did influence the gypsy players but the fact remains to this day that for 1000 years the professional musician class all over Europe for popular music R gypsies and even classical music owes its complexity to Rajasthan ragas communicated through gypsy music to this day.

@szatmar666 That paper deals with the R-haplogroups, the Indoeuropean ones. Europe was inhabited before the indoeuropean migrations. Thracians' ancestors were there before that (I2a type) and the lithuanian one.

It also says that the I2a haplogen is most common among the latinized populations that ave survived the slavization/magyarisation after the migrations era - the "vlachs" of the balkans and the romanians in Romania, Moldova and Ukraine. @unomnacajit111 the truth about nations is that they are a genetic mix of ancient populations and there is no or little correlation between the political history of these nations and the actual migration paths of the vast majority of people who live in their country. 4 instance most hungarians have ancestry in the Carpathian basin that goes back 40000 years and the genetic evidence of the actual Magyars who conquered that population in 896AD is relatively small. Similar situation with Romanians

It's a stupid film about exotic Transylvania and neurotic Westerners. You know those cliches...But the music is good. The singer is Bea Palya, first class Hungaria world music singer. The song is a Gypsy song in Hungarian. Nothing special but ok.

I know a lot about cliche's, I maybe a living cliche myself actually, but never heard of such a thing as "the neurotic Westerner"...:))). And Transsylvania is rather exotic after all...although people might differ in their opinion on how to define that...aah, but Gatlif's movies are in fact only music with a very thin story to support the whole thing...:))).But good they are !

Chiar esti handicapat sau numai te prefaci? Nu-i de ajuns ca ati primit Ardealul in cadou dar nu mai vrei sa recunosti nici ca mai traiesc unguri in Transilvania? Nu vreau sa te sperii dar oricat de tare vrei nu scapi de noi unguri ca intotdeauna am trait, traim si acuma si vom trai in Ardeal.

mi se rupe pula, tu nu vezi ca esti nebun tu si altii ca tine? ca ardealul e al nu stiu cui, ca pula mea...sunteti dusi cu capul bai extremistilor! ce conteaza ce aberezi tu acolo atata timp cat ungurii si romanii din ardeal se intaleg ca vecini, si se pisa pe nebunia din capul tau?

Ma, is unguroaica din Ardeal si ai dreptate intradevar ma inteleg bine cu romanii care au macar un pic de cultura si inteligenta. Dar scuza ma, tu nu ai nici cultura nici inteligenta! Eu nu vreau sa ma cert cu tine ca pur si simplu nu ti-au predat adevarul in orele de istorie. Dar hai mai deschide si tu o enciclopedie de istorie (un Larousse) care n-o fost scris nici de unguri dar nici de romani. S-ar putea sa ai suprize!

en nytiott szemmel jarok a vilagban, Erdelyben nottem fel, Magyarorsszagon is laktam evekig meg most nyugaton. Ez a beszed senkinek nem hasznal, legfokeppen nem az erdelyi magyarsagnak. Az erdelyi magyarsagnak egy svajci filozofiat kell megtanulni: mindenkivel joba lenni senkinek se elkotelezve magat, ez az egy modja van a fennmaradasuknak es ezt a magyarorszagi magyaroknak meg kell erteni. Uszitani a nacionalizmust nem szabad mert az a magyarsag erdekeivel ellentetes ami a jovot illeti.

matter of fact, you were the nomads from the balkans, who at the will of the hungarian kings, you settled in the Carpathian Basin (Hungary) from the 13th century on forwards, the same thing albanians done in kosovo, where they reproduced with better efficiency than serbs and now they are majority and claim the land which rightfully is serb land, Transylvania and Banat are historically and administratively founded and organized by hungarians, vlachs have no contribution to this

en nagyon is ertem mirol van szo, megjartam a roman kaszarnyakat. szitani a sovinizmust nem mukodik senkinek. ha a vilag szimpatiajat akarjuk ami szerntem hasznos akkor okosan kell viselkedni. a tapasztalatomra vonatkozo megjegyzesed meg rohelyes, foleg ami a vilagot illeti, en ugyanis bejartam mint a legnagyobb cegek alkalmazottja, mig te egy zoldfulu benyomasat kelted.
