Total myth about touching baby birds beacsue the mom will abandone them. Seems everyone has heard this from someone at some point, but they can never say from who. Just not true.

Scientist band thousands of baby birds ( without gloves) every year. With the exception of vultures, birds have a very poorly developed sense of smell.

There is baby birds in my back yard that look the exact same! :D they used to be tiny lil eggs until One day i went down to see them and i lifted up the leaf and they opened they're mouth xD I almost died! My grandma had bushes like that, but they were like 8 feet tall. She had me climb on a chair and look in one because she kept hearing noises in it........ I moved a bit of it to find two kittens, one hissing at me. lol I have no idea how the mother got them in there.... But we took them inside, and the mother actually opened her sliding door and moved them back into the bush! lol

OMGSH, I saw the EXACT SAME baby birds and the nest at this campsite my school went to! xD Unfortunately, we don't know if the birds were eaten by raccoons or not. One of the teachers, a nature specialist, said they might be in danger of getting killed, because the nest was on the ground beneath a tree.

the reason why is that they then don't smell like the baby bird, but more like human, then that means that the¥ won't take care of them (they don't kill them themselves, it's the neglect that kills them). so yeah, like you said, don't touch them, or frankly, don't go to close either

Be careful with them, they look like they're getting to the age where they're going to start pushing each other out of their nests. Sometimes, they all fall out and the mom gets left with no babies. It would be sad to have a dead baby bird on your doorstep. :(

Maybe set up a little net like on a trapeeze so they can fall in! lol, ah, if only that was a realistic option.

I hate finding baby birds because I know they're going to probably end up dead on the ground. :(

eight years ago there was a bird fight in the trees and a baby sparrow fell on the ground. he injured his foot, so we got him in a box and took him inside, his mom didn't like that.

we were going to give him to this lady who raises rescued birds but i kept him.

That's cute!! I found a baby bird on the ground and made a makeshift nest. The mother DID feed the baby so I don't know if it is an old wife's tale about touching the bird, which I don't recommend unless you would have to, or if it is just certain types of birds that shouldn't be touched.
