Οι τραγωδοί αντλούσαν υλικό απο τους μυθολογικούς κύκλούς ( ατρειδών κ.α) Δεν μιλάμε λοιπόν για ελληνική ιστορία αλλά για μυθολογία με ιστορικές βάσεις- μυθολογικά πρόσωπα όπως ο αγαμέμνων κλπ. υπήρξαν, τρωικός πόλεμος έγινε ΄κλπ

so this was made in 1977? It is more realistic than any modern hollywood shit like Troy or Clash of the Titans. Watching this I could actually believe I am there in ancient Greece, witnessing the real people of the time. That should be the role of any historical movie or book.

there is a passage in strabon books,iphigenia goes to anatolia,near the anti taurus mountains near shahr village there was a enyo temple she gave her hair for lament,that temple is lost in time but im trying to find it.

it began with the judgement of paris - and an insult to a goddess - a foolish act - the killing of a deer in a sacred grove - and the cessation of the wind - so that the ships could not sail... it ends with clytemnestra killing agamemnon, and orestes killing clytemnestra -

that is the way tragedies go.

Rumours say that "Ifigeneia" lost the 1978 Academy Award for the Best Foreign Language Film just by one vote! Seeing the rest of the contestants of that year, I believe that "Ifigeneia" should have won the Award.

it is based on Iphigenia at Aulis, from Euripides, written at 410 BC. And it isnt the unique tragedy written about iphigenia- "iphegenia in tauris" follows this story-showing that iphigenia lived because goddess artemis felt mercy for her and tooked her away at the moment of sacrifice-when others believed she died-and took her to another land and made her a priestess.there, suddently after years, she meets her brother , orestis, without knowing it
