He's only lifting the 45% of that weight (the angle of the machine is 45º) if he want to lift a tone he had to use a 90º leg press machine...
I can lift 110 kg in a 90º leg press machine and little more of the double in a 45º machine...

to find out what the vertical weight is you need to multiply the weight by cos(45) which is 0.7...
...so 1000 kg will feel like 700 kg vertical
