there could not be any bacteria on the probe. the probe wasn't destroyed because it crashed, Jupiter's dense atmosphere would have either burned it up or got crushed it from the pressure. furthermore, the probe didn't have the velocity to go much further, and we don't know much about Jupiter, so they got information as it crashed. Voyager is the only probe that has been able to go far because the planets aligned and it gave it a gravity boost. Galileo didn't have that.
@KingWing777 It was an unmanned probe. If there were bacteria alive on the probe, could they have survived and be multiplying somewhere in Jupiter's atmosphere? I think Nasa took precautions to try and ensure there were no live bacteria.
@robert0joe You're right. They put a probe into the atmosphere, which radioed back data and eventually ended the mission by putting Galileo into the atmosphere also, to avoid possible future contamination of Jupiter's moons. There's a lot of information in the Wikipedia article. How they dealt with the faults that occurred!
@robert0joe - It's because Europa may have a liquid water sea beneath it's icy mantle which could contain alien life which they didn't want to contaminate with life from Earth so that is why they destroyed the probe by plunging it into Jupiters atmosphere.
Sorry to change the subject but this is space-related.
To see a partial summary of the clear evidence that the Apollo moon missions were faked, google "The Naked Scientists". In the "New Theories" section of the forum there's a thread entitled "Did We Land on the Moon?". The summary is on page 15. It's the 7th one from the top.
Once people have seen the hoax evidence, there's nothing anyone can do to make them believe we went to the moon.
Thanks Jupiter got taking random flying objects and crashing into you instead of us... though in 2029 we may not be so lucky, oh well... so it goes =)
It's too small to burn hydrogen in fusion reactions. If Jupiter could have grown bigger as the solar system developed it would have become a star and the solar system would be a binary stellar system, as many known systems are.
I've been reading that the USA's NIF laser facility should be able to find out a little more about the cores of giant planets by creating such large pressures with lasers. People think the NIF is a bargain because of that sort of capability and the other marvellous things it can do. I hope ignition works as envisaged. France has a similar facility in development also.
This is Nasa's animation of the event. I didn't see that they had anything showing more detail. On YouTube there are videos of the Russian MIR space station as it fell back to Earth. You can search for "Mir deorbit" and "Mir reentry".
We need to know about Jupiter and the other planets. There's a very interesting question, about Jupiter and Saturn especially; they radiate more heat than they receive from the sun and although theoretically that may be because the atmospheres are still settling it isn't a simple explanation and is difficult to prove.
Saturn was ignited...... now we are tryin triton and some other mass of Fe.

I Remember NASA said in 1989 or something they sent this spacecraft to Jupiter. By this video, i guess it failed?

Not from the actual spacecraft - only a simulation

stupid idea to crash the orbiter, it could operate still
azimebrahimi60616 1 year ago
Why did they crash the orbiter?
robert0joe 1 year ago
@robert0joe It radioed back information about the descent.
andrewburbidge 1 year ago
@andrewburbidge I mean they crashed the satellite to avoid contaminating Europa in case the satellite crashes to Europa.

Also, do a YouTube search on "MarsFaker".

People feel they have more interesting things to worry about.
For example, it has now been proved that there is water around the moon's south pole.
What is the value of a tonne of water delivered to Earth orbit?
Wind generation isn't economic yet, here on Earth, and people are making money from it because of government subsidies.
When will governments get together and agree such a system of subsidies for lunar development?
Who would listen to ideas about faked voyages to the moon then?
andrewburbidge 2 years ago
"Who would listen to ideas about faked voyages to the moon then?"
In any case it's better to know what really happened. At least it will be harder for the government to take us in again.

Jupiter has no surface, it's all gas, an object that tries to enter gets so dense it breaks in half and gets crushed by extreme pressure.
Spyez 2 years ago
I think that's essentially correct but there is probably a core of metallic hydrogen.
andrewburbidge 2 years ago
There probably is, but there is no way of knowing for sure, we may even never know.

it's almost impossable to go half-way into the atmosphere because go when very, very close to the planet...
let's just say that your body has been super tight pancaked.
