It's obvious that the director wasn't interested in making a video in true BW format. They are also playing a very modern alternative rock sound in the background, does that bother you? The interlace is appropriate where it's done IMHO. This isn't "The Artist", it's a music video for a contemporary alt rock group. Whaddya expect?

I actually enjoyed the momentary dischord of the piano. It's very Ennio Morricone-esc, in reference to the crisis peace. A good dischord in the midst of melody brings tension or, alternatively, release in a song.

2. for people who arent extremely informed/knowledgeable about movie and film technique, it actually looks fairly nice. who knows, maybe they purposefully didnt work on the interlace (or whatever that is).

No film should ever have interlace artifacts, as no film is shot as alternate fields. It's a glaring anachronism, like making a film about ancient Rome with digital watches on view in every scene.

Once you see the problem, you can't unsee it, it's a neophyte mistake, marring an otherwise cool production, probably caused by bad conversion for upload :)
