@maugustson this video is from the 12/4/1988 show at St. Andrew's Hall Detroit. They also played Stop! a handful of other times that tour, like 9/15/1988 at Providence, RI for example.
Yeah, claiming Stop was played on the 88/89 tour is just BS. Dude, you need to change that. I saw this tour, and it ABSOLUTELY was not played on this tour. yeah, I got your email about them writing Ritual songs pre 90, but they did NOT play them on the Nothings Shocking tour. no, no no.
@antiirony People are too paranoid to let it all out...slaves to ego and need to look a certain way for the camera....This is why I love Perry...he just doesn't care what people think...
They absolutely did not play Stop on the Nothing's Shocking tour. Saw them on both. I can tell by their appearance and stage set up that this is from Ritual, which was 1990. Not that it matters. Killer vid.
i hope you are referring to the lame coffee shop that we all used to go to at 4am to come down, and not one of the greatest drummers of this generation.
duuuuuude, same here. i always would catch my self sort of floating around with my mouth open watching and feeling the dude. so complex yet so very simple...AND FUCKING RETARDED
Book wavers/ soul savers can suck me dry while I bad mouth their mothers on my new iphone.......they cant hear over all the white noise/vacuum sucking sounds of their blessed faces on my prolonged chubo-wubo sprite wonder wand of forbidden delights. That's o.k. They're happy. So I'm happy. Ready or not I'm coming in!!!
saw them at pittsburgh and they were awesome, nin was spectacular too, second time ive seen them and they put on an amazing show, jane and nin, 2 different live shows but both incredible
saw them couple weeks ago in Austin, TX. OMG Janes Addiction rules!! NIN was ok, but omg JA was about the best band I ever saw with the exception of maybe FNM.
Love love love Jane's Addiction. They always seem to compensate for venues not so conducive to their style. I hear they are back and gonna tour!!!! Yes/// This audio isn't the best but ya know at least it's a capture of what I'm sure was an awesome show-
Thanks. I am sure that they are opening up for a wide numerous of shows on the NIN tour this summer. Look for tickets while you can before they are sold out.
wow, i thought you were cool, what happened man? pay for everything? kill yourself?, fucking pigs?, who are you an obnoxious cartoon of a goodwill shopping disaster?
Those fuckin' cunts deleted every jane's addiction music video here on youtube due to so called "copyright infringement" - that's how they call it; I call it KILLING CULTURE !!! Fuck 'em, I'm going to only buy albums second hand from now on...
Dude - don't forget Perkins and Avery -- arguably the tightest rhythm section of their time. Too bad they didn't all stay together and make more music. That said, PFP was pretty awesome stuff. You gotta admit the creative powerhouse was Perry. No doubt he was at his finest with Jane's but gotta love his perseverence!!
part of the charm is the energy generated from the clash of different style directions, which doesn't usually last long. it's like the velvet underground and nico, or the pixies.
What a beautiful mess this band was. Saw them in the early 1990s and they put on the best live show I've ever seen. It's too bad Perry Farrell kept 62.5% of all profits the band made to himself. Just goes to show that you have to have respect for your band members. Check out the book Whores: An Oral Biography of Jane's Addiciton and Perry Farrell.
That might be wrong that Perry keeps that much of the profit, but really he probably was 62.5% of Jane's. The dude had the vision and took all the members to a whole new level. I never did read any books about Perry's life or anything...
Alternative before alternative was alternative, nawmean? And G.D!!! Dave could play his ass off huh?. When I first heard N.S. back in '89 his playing made me want to quit and sell all my gear. Too bad he plays all wimpy now. What the hell happened to you Dave?!?!?
This is a band where each member brought his own style and talent, just like The Doors did.
Just listen to Ritual De La Habitual over and over again for a few days and you will pick up on alot of the instrumentation from each member, it's amazing , so amazing that now I can speak to women without throwing up and my school grades have improved and my lazy eye has never looked better and the calouses on my hands have gone and my mom no longer tucks me in at night and so on and so forth.
Its such a trip to watch all the people out in the crowd in these videos back in the old 86 to 91 days. They all just stand there not really knowing what the fuck to do or what to think about it.
In Vancouver, After a few nerve pinches by some guard, I got to meet Perry. He was moving his gear after a dj show. It was such a great night and to top it meeting PF. I was naturally high for hours after meeting him. GB.
RHCP?lol wtf fuck, janes addiction have nothing to with them, except flea played bass for them in 1997,and dave narravo played for them for a short while, thats all.
im not a huge janes addiction fan but i do liek there stuff. is that narvarro playin guitar there and is that the same drummer they had later on in thr career. if not who r they.

Rock and roll used to be wild. These new kids don't want to rock the boat. And since the grunge movement made everyone a revel what the hell is the point anymore?
I am jealous you are new to Janes Addiction. I remember the 1st time I got into Janes was when Ritual De Lo Habitual came out. I was thrilled to learn they had 2 other powerful albums out. I listened to them to the point the tapes skipped.
As for the White Stripes, I think people will still be listening to their stuff 15 years down the road because their sound is unique, catchy and real. ---Now go buy Nothing's Shocking by Janes and listen to the ENTIRE album with head phones.
oh sorry I see nvm about the other one I didn't get it right . . . I see that this is the comment you left me . . . anyway yeah I bought the greatest hits something like Catacombs or something it's awesome love Ain't No Right . . . but the CD already skips I got jipped so I needta get all three albums (three meaning minus Strays I didn't like that one at all)
Forget Strays. That's a sellout album. Although .But if you're a fan of music you will get why "those in the know" always dig Janes Addiction...and always will.and Fishbone, were their biggest fans. Everytime you listen to Janes starting out you will find yourself liking different songs on each album more than the other to point where you can't make up your mind which one you like best. You listen over and over, until that disc skips..that's when "you're in the know".
lol . . . oh well . . . right now Ain't No Right is helping me get over this girl that moved away . . . try to slip back into apathy "I said so what!"
Listened to that song atleast 500 times. I never picked up on that line. ...now you see. The songs just keeps on living.... Listen to "I would for you" by Janes when you need to bring it down a notch. Good luck getting over the girl.
I heard the guitar player talk about why he wouldnt get another drummer. He said he has tried other drummers that were more talented but they "didnt feel right". As much as I cringe watching that chick play, at least it is a conscious decision for it to have that kind of trashy feel.
no they wouldn't be inspired by fall out boy, but the fact is prerry is labeled as a 'godfather' of alternative rock. Before Janes addiction who was there that played alt rock?
At 00:08 is the best opening for a song ever: "Kill yourself !!!"
I can't stop smiling at that.

I don't see why not . . . you're talking about the preference thing right?

I heard the guitar player talk about why he wouldnt get another drummer. He said he has tried other drummers that were more talented but they "didnt feel right". As much as I cringe watching that chick play, at least it is a conscious decision for it to have that kind of trashy feel.

no they wouldn't be inspired by fall out boy, but the fact is prerry is labeled as a 'godfather' of alternative rock. Before Janes addiction who was there that played alt rock?
