  • stop watching, get hands on. you gotta record as your hands twist knobs and get morphie with sound. if you still have that emu ill buy that shit, mine got jacked and ive been dying to play the command station. i still think about how sick i was on it. but,i had px-7 with roms.

  • Fuck the hater's i like this machine ! i dont own one but i want one . For some reason and maybe its human nature but when someone buy's a particular brand than they have to say that every other brand is crap . well whatever i like diversity and it seems to have good sounds . can you create synth sounds with this or is it more geared towards a drum machine and can you control it via midi keyboard ?

  • @Flipjunkie1 It does synth sounds as well. It comes with the E-Mu Extreme Lead sample ROM built in, but you can also expand it with other ROM's that E-Mu put out.

  • I gotta say, the start of the video, the drums sounded awkward, like there was too much of a pause from the end of one phrase to the start of the next, but hearing it all come together to find that it was intentional, it flows amazingly. Well done. I don't have the $1000 I read that'd cost online, I'm going with the EMX1-SD but you've definitely made me wonder about that a lot more, down the road.

  • another typical smart-ass store salesman :-)

  • Honestly, I would get an EMX, but this is just way cheaper.

  • Trippy cat stare.

  • You made a dumb move my friend.

I show you how to do this son

If you wanted to get a sound module and expand it, You should have baught a Proteus 2000 and baught the Extreme Lead chip separately and had 3 other expansion slots for anything you'd be interested in. Instead of buying a sequencer and having to pet it in multimode averytime you turn it on.

By the way, How will you save your sequences? The MP 7 has no disk drive.

Mr. Know everyfucking thing. In other words. Your fucked.

  • Ok so get an MP7 - I said i worked at sam sh because i have sample a lot of equipment. Listen man. Do what you wanna do. Go get an MP7. But i guarantee you won't even know how to sequence in it.

But do you. Mr know every fucking thing.

    Peace.

P.S. by the looks of everything you baught in music, We are from 2 totally different worlds. It seems as if you just "Play around with music". All that stuff is a waste of money and time.

  • I finally got up and running with this thing sequencing a Roland S-750 sampler. What can I say but read the reviews on these and get back to me:) Premo watch out!

btw mine was custom painted black(nice)

  • Is this better than a Korg EMX-1?

  • no. different beasts really. if you're looking for a groovebox, go with the korgs. if you want a full on workstation sequencer in a groovebox package, get the xl-7/mp-7, etc. can be quite confusing to program for awhile till you get used to it (specially the fx routing) but once you get it its not a bad deal. i recently sold mine (i prarily used it as a midi sequencer for other gear), i still own a korg esx-1.

  • I whole-heartedly believe that the korg emx-1 is both easier to use, and sounds better. But its up to your ears really

  • Aredj: Agree. This is some sick hardware sequencer. Ive had mc303,505,808, mpc500,rm1x, rs7000 and finally raveolution309 (wich i still love!) but this beats them. sound-tweaking and mostly control. Like any other hardware, especially groovebox/drummachines you need to get to know it first, And this is well worth it! Mickey think he knows shit becauss he played wirh it.....come on dude. So you worked in a music store, who gives?? Because is sell car's doesent mean i can drive!!!!

  • Anyway. The command stations works a bit different than other grooveboxes/sequencers, but if you spend the time to actually LEARN what it can do - its super powerful AND easy to usel. I use mine to run external synths / it internal sounds are good too. Powerful synth engine... Its my favorite midi sequencer. Great machine.

  • HAHA mickey, hard to use....man come on!!!!Compared to what? Its not harder then an mpc/mcxxx/yamaha xxxx. Bro u sound like you know nothing "can't be upgraded" please, get your facts straight bitch. Maybe YOU need an upgraded. And like dax. said no it cant sample, so what tweak the f...... sounds. get a sampler and you got a real good hardware setup. I would rather have a xl-7 hardware sequencer then a akai sequencer.

  • I worked for years in Sam As Music. When those things came out, we were getting returns like crazy. This had to be the worst selling drum machine ever made. Trust me - I know. As for a musically inclined guy like myself who knows how to use and has owned various models of drum machines, This is the hardest and most worthless. If you like it,then buy one. No dirt on my shoulders. I don't care about what YOU do.

  • @mikeygeneral

People also returned the groovboxes for the same reason...hard to get around.

But, I think e-mu's version of the groovebox was much better.

  • worst drum machine ever created. hard as hell to use and no upgrade options. how sad. thank god for mpc's and tritons.

  • Maybe because it's not a 'drum machine.' It's a synthesizer and sequencer (though not a sampler) and an very capable one, at that. The E-mu Proteus 2K line is very easy to upgrade, too.

  • Oh here we go! A motherfucker who thinks he knows everything.

Did it say that it sampled?

You can keep that garbage. No real producer uses that. I would buy that shit for my son. And he wouldn't even like it. I wouldn't post something on this page unless i knew what i was talking about. So keep your tech support.

  • You didn't say it sampled but compared it to an MPC. Can you figure out where I got the sampling reference from?

If you knew anything about this synth beyond your ignorant opinion you'd know what it is and know that it can be upgraded easily. Maybe you wouldn't be so frustrated by the interface, either.

It's not a 'drum machine.' You don't know what you're talking about.

  • Ignorant opinion? LMAO.

You keep that xl garbage. Whatever. I probably know more about that machine than you do, and i've never owned it.

What is the definition of a drum machine?

Or should you ask Roger Linn? Who is the creater of the drum machine and the so called brains behing the Ensoniq (What's that?) and Akai line?

You fucking with a whole different type of dude right now. Your best bet is to take a lesson and not act as if you are too smart.

    Do your research. Jackass.

  • So Mikey..how do you like Roger's latest project? Do you find the interface easy to navigate? Is the upgrade path easy enough for you?

About Ensoniq. Funny decision about making those parameters non-editable from the front panel of that famous T-wave synth. Which parameters were those again? I'm sure you know because you're a 'different type of dude'.

Quick! Start Googling so you can pretend to know what the fuck you're talking about...

    What a tool.

  • Googling? That's what you did for Roger Linn.

I don't know and don't care what his latest project is. Just fuck off, man and stop debating with me and leave me alone. Dickhead.

  • @mikeygeneral

You sound like another bread N butter MPC hip hop producer, that just uses what everybody else does in order to seem "relevant"

  • @SPAZZOID100

It is my bread and butter. That XL 7 is garbage and the MPC can do way more than that piece of shit. I used to warn customers about that garbage when i worked for Sam Ash. We got crazy returns on those things. That shit don't even have a disk drive - And it don't even sample, LMAO. The SP 12 came out in 86 and it had a drive and E-MU baught out Ensoniq. Man go ahead with them preset drum patterns. You just like pretty lights n shit.

Now,You wanna go blow for blow on features?

  • @mikeygeneral

Yeah...you sound like a hip hop head for sure, singing the praises of the MPC.

First of all, the command stations were not meant to be like mpc's, hence no sampling capabilities.

The mp7 is simply their module along with an internal sequencer.

If people returned them as much as you say, it probably means that they didn't take the time to learn the machine, or spend any time with it.

We can blame THEM for this, not the machine. The command stations are quite well designed.

  • @SPAZZOID100

whatever man. stick with that garbage and all the pretty lights. How you got a sequencer that doesn't go beyong 30,000 notes? while the mpc gives you 100,000. Listen man i would rather you not even reply to me and just leave me alone yo.

  • @mikeygeneral

I disagree...it's not that easy to use, but it's a good machine.

  • Pleeeeeeaazzzz Man could you tell me :

Are ALL the audio we hear in this vid coming from the XL-7 ? No Virus ior whatever ?

What do you think about the xl-7 sequencing other machines ? Does it work fine ?

    Thanxxxxxxx :D

  • Ahhh your movies are awesome! i love the way you move your cam like that. Going al crazy showing off al the knobs whit that crazy ass beat on the background. love it. Nice gear you got there. Keep it up

  • I see you have a Virus C in the background, I am thinking of getting one to use with command station. How do you find sequencing the virus with the xl-7, are they friends?

  • These were £949 when they came out

  • Love it! I do Hip-Hop and will be using the XL-7 to sequence a Roland S-750, Casio FZ-1, Mirage, synths etc.. This gives me new ideas

  • This is awesome! I just bought one on ebay and can't wait for it to get here now.

    nice cat poke too!

  • hope u like it :) its good
