spray gun + lighter would be my weapon. Just hold the lighter infront of the spray gun and spray some paint. Any flammable color will do just fine. And i agree with raciid, the axe is an awsome weapon. But to be honest you shouldn't be in melee range of a zombie at any time. One tiny little bite and you may be turned into one in a couple of days.
But if you must get within "grabbing range" with it, a hand-axe, bat, or perhaps hammer would be the best weapons, as they give you extra reach and create enough blunt trauma to shatter the cranium and destroy the brain.
I don't think they realize that simply penetrating a zombies brain wouldn't kill it. Simple brain trauma wont stop the signals keeping it moving. You would need massive trauma to the brain or dicing of the brain. That's why bullets are so great. The force of the bullet going through the cranium would create shock-waves, creating massive brain trauma and in some cases (smaller caliber) ricocheting around the cranium cavity and dicing up the brain. #1 rule with zombies is stay out of Melee range
for a good guideline would be to look at the surface area vs force applied.
all of the piercing weps have a tiny area for the force to penetrate, but with the sai its at an increasing circumference so it gets stuck. so look at using something similar to an gladius with a pointed tip and a shaft without changing dimensions for BIS zombie killing
The staff from the overhead swing lost alot of force on the bend, so take into consideration the force lost there, a steel bar would do much better.
Remember that hammers, maces and weights have an extremely short range!
The zombie would probably just grab your arm and bite you. Also, they are heavy.
During a Zombie apocalypse thelast thing you want to carry around is a 30 pound weight while you are running away from zombies. Think practical. A Shaolin-spade (dont know if its the correct english word) is like shovel. With Blades. It can decapitate a human easily, and you got 180 cm of wood between you and your victim. Try it.
So you trying to tell me you can't push a paint brush handle through an 85psi board with your own human strength?! You wouldn't last fight minutes in the apocalypse maggot!!.
a flamethroer can be good if it is rellty hot like a welder, so it melt the zombis more then burn them, also with pircing weapons you can kick the zombie in order to relis your weapon, so it can be afectiv cos kicking dasent take to ling, also the katana can be yous for decapitation, the neck and spine arent thet hard
Yes I (renn) would like to thank you all for the feedback on the zombie game it's progressing more and should be getting close to playtesting soon :) and The plan is to have the playtesting available for the fans that are interested
just rember killing a zonbie is reliant on destruction of the brain. if you break the skull it does not mean that you have killed the zombie. with piercing weapons you would need to swirl it around the cavity to turn it into a thick mush, thus must be rather long. bludgeon weapons also don't need to break the skull if you can manage to cause a concussion like injury. slashing weapons should be thrown out all together, due to the fact that you need to cut the spinal cord or slice the brain apart.
when you think about it the neck is weaker than the skull,
one hit from a b ball bat should take of the head completely and if were thinking about infected then there done as soon as you scramble there brain or take of there head.
one thing i don't get is why some people think chain saws are any good with killing zombies.
have fun chopping up one or 2 then getting it jammed with there brains, guts, bones and having every other one around you being attracted to the sound and eating you alive.
if it was me i would not even want to be in melee combat with a highly infectious zombie or zombie horde but if i was forced to face one or 15 i would want a shield and spear police riot shield and some sort of short spear or short sword. short spear would be easy to make in the field. would give you some reach of about 5 feet, and have much greater killing potential. the main problem here is melee combat with a zombie, where there is one there are hundreds more.
about the piercing weapons. Isn't it crucial for pulling the weapons out that the victim is moist on the inside? If you watch deadliest warrior they seem to do a pretty good job, right? I think you need the blood and all.
Hands down best improvised weapon for a zombie appocky. Crowbar. a sharp end. a blunt end (back of the curve) and it will help you get into abandoned houses or buildings. Hammers work but honestly you don't want to be that close. Zombies may be slow but they have the full strength of the person and in fact more strength in the fact that they don't stop for self preservation. They don't care if it hurts. Only weak zombies are the ones who are super decomposed. The fresher they are the stronger.
A Bolter would make a great weapon against zombies! A bolter round that doesn't kill them renders them almost completely mutilated and harmless. The only problem would be the guts and infected blood spraying around on impact...
Maybe you need a Space Marine power armour for it to be most effective. You wouldn't want to be sprayed down with infectious goo :/
When I come to think of it, to be a Space Marine would be kind of cool.
Some weapons seem better in damage potential, BUT, also take into account reach. When fighting a zombie you might want a weapon with a little range even though it does a less damage. So in that sense I would rate a basebalbat > hammer. Personally I recommend a lightsabre =P
Sorry to be picky, but no katana would do damage when used like that. You have to do a cutting strike, not just bash the target with the blade. No blade will cut when you just press (or bash) it against a target, you have to move it in a slicing way. That's the art with using a katana: swing it so that it slices.
hacksaw jim duggin and the big bossman in 1 videowow.you seen 2 4get that if the zombies are infected u dont want 2 b 2 close 2 them so hand hammers a no sledge hammer yes.im pretty sure u could put some nuts and bolts in2 a baseball bat to improve it personly coming from northern ireland id use a hurly stick but come on guys u cant 4get about the good old chainsaw + guns should be quite easy 2 get and lets not 4get about just driving over them with a decent car
to be fair its usually only the top third of a katana that is sharpened, in order to penetrate the skull and forward movement uses the rest of the blade to slice through the skul..... just fyi lol
This is really good stuff. Most people don't realize how serious this threat is.
A personal favorite of mine is the axe. You get a really good swing with it and it's fairly easy to pull out of the dead(er) zombie. Baseball bats and crowbars can also be quite useful but remember to aim for the neck or the spine when using blunt force. Sledgehammers are good too if you are strong enough. Don't use chainsaws, however. Even though they are effective, you will get contaminated blood all over you.
I think you guys need some propper lessons on how to use some of those martial arts weapons. As would most people, the normal household tools would be better for the general public.
when fighting zombies you dont have to crack the skull, just hitting the hard enough and making the barin move will kill them, so a bat would do well if you dont choke up on it.
makeshift power fist...basically a chunk of metal that will go around the fist maybe a few spikes to help pierce the skull and brain. they would be a lot easier to move around with then a 2x4 would be
Why did you guys forget Axes? That would be my unpowered/unfueled anti-zombie weapon of choice. It has fair range, a sharp edge and decent amount of blunt force (if you'd like to say so for a sharpened weapon) And of course I would get me a chainsaw :D
You lot are off your heads! I'd love to work in the zombie killing lab!... What you want is a lump hammer, the blunt trauma of a baseball bat combined with the lethality of a hammer!!!

We do joke about the Zombie Apocalypse, but this was just research. Thanks for all the good info everyone! THANKS!
I have a 1/2 size Spartan shield from 300 made from solid metal, idk what metal, im guessing some kind of brass... it is hefty, big and has a decently sharp edge on it, how do yall think that would work with zombies?
For your zombie roleplay game u should have classes with specific perks and disadvantages. For example you could have a class called a welder who could weld shut windows and dorrs and make barricades. His downfall would be that he cant have automatic weapons.
Best zombie killing weapon. Proper katana. No ammo and will chop through any part of the zombie as easily as pie. But this RPG sounds awesome. Hurry and finish it. :)
@MinigamesUK Barring plain "coolness factor", any sort of bladed weapon would be awful in a zombie invasion. After a couple of zombies the blades would dull out from cutting through bone so many times. In my opinion, blunt weapons like crowbars or hammers (as demonstrated) would be the best choice, as you not only have a very handy and deadly weapon, but a tool as well. Also I believe a skull would fracture differently than wood, so a hammer head wouldn't get stuck.
The problem is you have to get a headshot very quickly, because breaking a zombie arm is not gonna do much as they walk right through it, proper Katanas can cut through solid steel, so chopping straight through a zombie torso would be no problem. Allowing you to down several in one hit. A whetstone and a few minutes would giive you a newish edge. You are right about the hammer though. probably wouldn't get stuck.
@MinigamesUK In a realistic situation, yes you could carry around whetstones and other tools to make sure your swords would maintain peak condition. But the question then becomes: would you really want to? Whetstones plus all of the other equipment would start to weigh you down. About blunt weapons, I think it more comes down to how you swing it, if you're just flailing wildly you probably won't do much. But a good over-head vertical chop would be easy to land a head shot with.
Oh I utterly agree, but that overhead chop would invariably put you in arms reach of the zombie unles you happen to be incredibly lanky. A whetstone and cloth is not particularly heavy, and if you happen to have a home base then you could leave them there, if not, it shouldn't be too much trouble just carry around a few light things in a rucksack. I think this RPG needs to look at distancing on weapons too, cos as I say, a katana has a much longer lethal range than a hammer.
@MinigamesUK I doubt you'd ever want to get in range with a zombie to use any sort of melee weapon in the first place, of course. But yes, the katana would definitely be a safer choice based solely on the length of the blade versus a hammer. I misspoke when I said that the things would weigh you down. I meant that they'd simply be more things to carry, when a point I emphasized in mentioning hammers and crowbars is that they double as tools, whereas you wouldn't pry a door open with a katana.
That's true enough, you know, I really hope they read this, it's providing a lot of useful stuff for an RPG. You wouldn't want to get in melee range of a zombie but the ammo problem is why I would favour melee. The katana is my favourite because it is the sharpest type of sword but not as unwieldy as say, a claymore. I think the main problem is getting a proper katana would be a pain in the ass considering they cost like 25 grand. A hammer would be much more accessible,
@MinigamesUK Agreed. But, barring some sort of magical reanimation, in a universe that followed every law of reality a zombie "apocalypse" would last only last a few weeks at most. Hell, most of the zombies would explode into a shower of bits and pieces from the build up of gases in their bodies. Yeah, any sort of quality sword would really be a luxury item in a zombie apocalypse, that wouldn't stop me from finding myself a flamberge though.
I think the fact that the zombies happen in the first place is a pretty good show that not every rule of reality as we currently know it is being obeyed.
@MinigamesUK I was granting that certain factors would be bent to allow for their appearance in the first place, meanwhile maintaining every other constant, hell I even mentioned magical reanimation and last I checked we didn't have any Necromancers running around. But if I did somehow miss this development, I would greatly appreciate a pointer to the nearest college of Necromancy, that would be an interesting career path. I wonder who'd hire a Necromancer...
Well, for the purpose of a fun RPG that lasts a while I would rather that the zombies didn't explode after a few weeks. I can think of plenty of people who would hire a necromancer, gang leaders who wanted mindless obedience, criminal inspectors who wanted information on a murder etc.
@MinigamesUK Of course, I was just equating the RPG to reality and applying all of the natural constants in addition to simply the ones pertinent to how the game would work.
silly guys get them chained to their painting stations to await zombie doom. The better they paint the longer they live. When they fail brains for lunch.
but u didnt bring into any head trauma can damage a brain like in a car crash when your head flies forward the brain keeps traveling so a baseball bat and tonfa to the head could kill a zombie
Wow..do people really get"disappointed" with them just because they don't do every single video based around tabletop gaming? I think its funny, awesome, and a nice little surprise when they do something like this, if you are going to get bent out of shape cuz they do something different you might as well go watch a different channel cuz anyone who watches BTP knows they do funny shit like this, take a chill pill, and we people who are ready for the zombocalypse aren't paranoid we're prepared :)
@sirclanky Thank you. Also note that this is bonus material-- I put up three vids today! I think I put up 500 vids last year, which is about ten a week.
@sirclanky I think it depends on how they wan't to profile their company. A true company only shows stuff that's relivant to their company and would upload stuff like this on another account. So its either of the following:
-They want to exploit their numbered fanbase to screen their own wacky exploits
-They deliberately want the company to look loose, wacky, somewhat unprofessional yet relatable and personal
I don't care what anyone says the best two zombie weapons ever, an aluminum baseball bat and a shotgun full of buck shot. They are easy to use, durable, versatile, and turn flesh and bone to mush. I've had this argument many times and even put them through some tests of my own. Plus all you need to do to find them is loot your local walmart.
@fiddlybarkparka just a couple of nails to pierce, and then you have the leverage to be able to get the nails out easily. Best of both worlds possibly?
spray gun + lighter would be my weapon. Just hold the lighter infront of the spray gun and spray some paint. Any flammable color will do just fine. And i agree with raciid, the axe is an awsome weapon. But to be honest you shouldn't be in melee range of a zombie at any time. Too much Eastern and not enough Western martial art weaponry.
Need weaponry designed to deal with men in heavy armour.
Warhammers and Maces
Also you don't just thrust with a thrusting weapon, you thrust and twist by rolling the wrist, this will stop the blade become trapped by the flesh.

For your zombie roleplay game u should have classes with specific perks and disadvantages. For example you could have a class called a welder who could weld shut windows and dorrs and make barricades. His downfall would be that he cant have automatic weapons.
Tau40kGuy 10 months ago
@Tau40kGuy We actually do have about 6 classes right now including the cop, the laborer, the medic, the althlete,....and yes the nerd!!!

Best zombie killing weapon. Proper katana. No ammo and will chop through any part of the zombie as easily as pie. But this RPG sounds awesome. Hurry and finish it. :)
MinigamesUK 10 months ago
@MinigamesUK Barring plain "coolness factor", any sort of bladed weapon would be awful in a zombie invasion. After a couple of zombies the blades would dull out from cutting through bone so many times. In my opinion, blunt weapons like crowbars or hammers (as demonstrated) would be the best choice, as you not only have a very handy and deadly weapon, but a tool as well. Also I believe a skull would fracture differently than wood, so a hammer head wouldn't get stuck.
HappyPariah 10 months ago
@HappyPariah
MinigamesUK 10 months ago
@MinigamesUK In a realistic situation, yes you could carry around whetstones and other tools to make sure your swords would maintain peak condition. But the question then becomes: would you really want to? Whetstones plus all of the other equipment would start to weigh you down. About blunt weapons, I think it more comes down to how you swing it, if you're just flailing wildly you probably won't do much. But a good over-head vertical chop would be easy to land a head shot with.
HappyPariah 10 months ago
@HappyPariah
MinigamesUK 10 months ago
@MinigamesUK I doubt you'd ever want to get in range with a zombie to use any sort of melee weapon in the first place, of course. But yes, the katana would definitely be a safer choice based solely on the length of the blade versus a hammer. I misspoke when I said that the things would weigh you down. I meant that they'd simply be more things to carry, when a point I emphasized in mentioning hammers and crowbars is that they double as tools, whereas you wouldn't pry a door open with a katana.
HappyPariah 10 months ago
@HappyPariah
A hammer would be much more accessible,
MinigamesUK 10 months ago
@MinigamesUK Agreed. But, barring some sort of magical reanimation, in a universe that followed every law of reality a zombie "apocalypse" would last only last a few weeks at most. Hell, most of the zombies would explode into a shower of bits and pieces from the build up of gases in their bodies. Yeah, any sort of quality sword would really be a luxury item in a zombie apocalypse, that wouldn't stop me from finding myself a flamberge though.
HappyPariah 10 months ago
@HappyPariah
I think the fact that the zombies happen in the first place is a pretty good show that not every rule of reality as we currently know it is being obeyed.
MinigamesUK 10 months ago
@MinigamesUK I was granting that certain factors would be bent to allow for their appearance in the first place, meanwhile maintaining every other constant, hell I even mentioned magical reanimation and last I checked we didn't have any Necromancers running around. But if I did somehow miss this development, I would greatly appreciate a pointer to the nearest college of Necromancy, that would be an interesting career path. I wonder who'd hire a Necromancer...
HappyPariah 10 months ago
@HappyPariah
Well, for the purpose of a fun RPG that lasts a while I would rather that the zombies didn't explode after a few weeks. I can think of plenty of people who would hire a necromancer, gang leaders who wanted mindless obedience, criminal inspectors who wanted information on a murder etc.
MinigamesUK 10 months ago
@MinigamesUK Of course, I was just equating the RPG to reality and applying all of the natural constants in addition to simply the ones pertinent to how the game would work.

but u didnt bring into any head trauma can damage a brain like in a car crash when your head flies forward the brain keeps traveling so a baseball bat and tonfa to the head could kill a zombie

@sirclanky i totally agree, u guys are doing a entertaining job. Keep up the great work !!!!!
michaeling8 10 months ago
@sirclanky I think it depends on how they wan't to profile their company. A true company only shows stuff that's relivant to their company and would upload stuff like this on another account. So its either of the following:
-They want to exploit their numbered fanbase to screen their own wacky exploits
-They deliberately want the company to look loose, wacky, somewhat unprofessional yet relatable and personal
- They don't think these things through :P

I don't care what anyone says the best two zombie weapons ever, an aluminum baseball bat and a shotgun full of buck shot. They are easy to use, durable, versatile, and turn flesh and bone to mush. I've had this argument many times and even put them through some tests of my own. Plus all you need to do to find them is loot your local walmart.

Seriously? This zombie apocalypse joke that the internet seems to have gotten obsessed with is just not funny. It's not going to happen.
I'm disappointed - usually BTP stuff is of high calibre.

@fiddlybarkparka just a couple of nails to pierce, and then you have the leverage to be able to get the nails out easily. Best of both worlds possibly?
