  • There are few thongs that make me cry in this world. This, band of brothers and my mom. I have an important decision soon, join the marines or go to college. My heart tells me marines and my brain tells me college. I don't know why its so hard to tell my mom and dad, and its sad how I'm even posting this in a comment. Maybe I'm just looking for advice or help. Great video, great series but people please don't forget the real men and women who fight for us everyday. Keep them in your prayers.

  • There's a lot of credit for the drawing, but I like to give credit to Hans Zimmer who is absolutely one of the best composers on the planet right now, who composed this music!

  • That build up at 1:30 always sends chills down my spine!

  • Loved your intro. When the series first showed I always made sure I was settled so I could watch the intro. Inspirational and the music behind is awesome. You contributed to a iconic, great and successful series.

I was inspired by the the music of Hans Zimmer, Geoff Zanelli & Blake Neely and used it for educational purposes for a Tribute video of my Dad's hero, a Marine who fought in the Pacific, Roy Auer, here on Youtube.

Hope to see your work in future more often.

  • What I wouldn't give to be able to draw like that.

  • I preferred band of brothers, although this is still great and has a story that can not be forgotten

  • my civil ethics teacher's father was a WWII veteran who fought the japs like this men did, I never get to met him , he's dead since a few months ago, when this series began he refused to watched before dying!

  • SUPER EPIC

  • I drew them

  • @stevefullertv Just finished watching the series. LOVED the intro animation. It is one of the most creative intros I've seen in a long time.

  • Who's the artist?

  • I wish I could draw this good...

  • Is that a piece of Charcoal they're using to draw?

  • My civil ethics teacher's father was a WWII veteran who fought the japanese during the pacific battles! He died a few years ago!

  • Great series

  • simply amazing

  • What a wonderful video To the artist who created the drawings I don't have enough words to describe what a great job you did. :)

  • is there any other mini series like the pacific and band of brother PLEASE REPLY !!!!!!!

  • @liamjordan2297 Yea, there's a series called "generation kill" it's not world war 2 but it follows an elite battalion in the USMC and their journey through afganhistan in 2003. It's relatively new, came out in 2008 I think.

  • @notredale123 You mean through Iraq?

  • @laurencelikestopgun oh yea shit! lol i did mean iraq :P

  • @liamjordan2297 "Generation Kill" is a 7-part miniseries about the 2003 invasion of Iraq, I've only seen the 1st episode but it is really good.. it's like a modern day The Pacific/BoB :)

  • 1:19 oh wow, reallistic drawing

  • this has to be the best opening to ANYTHING on the face of the planet.

i am extremely determined to learn this on piano. i will play with as much intensity as i can in memory of those who have died protecting our freedom.

  • Anyone know what typeface was used in the opening credits?

  • ANY Marine who served and learned about these great men such as Bassalone and Chesty Puller really appreciate this series...my personal favorite.. A great job by Tom Hanks. Just truley amazing!!! And Han Zimmers music just tops it off..I get the chills everytime!! God Bless all my Fellow Marines past and present, near and far!! Semper Fidelis!!!

    Sgt Rego USMC

    OIF Veteran

  • did u guys notice hans zimmer in his music is trying to tell us to think about the people who fought and who died for america god bless america and canada wich im in sorry for my english

  • Did anyone else see the charcoal breaking off in big pieces and smaller pieces and kind of make the connection to the losses of the Marines from island to island? some islands we lost so many, some weren't as costly as others but still we lost brothers. Semper Fi

I see more and more comments about how this didn't stand up to BoB well it hadn't a chance to even compete, this was made 10 years later. More and more of our brothers passed away with their stories going with them

    Guard the gates boys.

  • @wvufanngarner yes, the charcoal in my opinion symbolizes the history that is writen with a cost, and the red symbolizes where blood is spilled. Im glade to see that that their story is told and we may learn from their experience so we may learn for better, and god bless them

  • nice recut

  • I Think this is movie is as good as the Easy company. I Really enjoyed it. And Hans Zimmer is the GOD of War movie musics!

  • This didn't have anything on Band of Brothers sadly. I still REALLY enjoyed it but I think I expected too much out of it and felt a little let down :(

  • i hate it when this music makes me cry :,(

  • @MrScreamingeagles101 It makes me want to cry, yes, but it makes me want to be a better person too. Maybe change the world someday. Funny how much meaning music has in life.

  • i ahte it when this music makes me cry :,(

  • it's an incredible song!

  • The music is really great. But what I really love about this intro is the way it's done. I dunno who came up with intro like this, but I think he/she is awesome. The images and how it's drawn by coal that breaks is just awesome. :)

  • Goosebumps every fucking time I hear this. It all fits so well.

  • I wish I could draw like that....

  • <3 Song.

  • Wow....insanely great opening and song ;D! Have to see this series, HBO RULES!

  • Truly beautiful. Especially at the very beginning where there were two beatings on a drum signifying the start of the theme, giving listners a dramatic feeling. The only bad thing about it is that it is short.

  • That is one of the beautifulest tune ive ever heard :O

I can cry if i hear this fucking beautiful tune :)

  • Watched the series through once and its very touching. the only series i've waited to the exact release so i can watch it. and now i'm watching it through out again and even now this theme and opening gives me chills.

Favourite series by far. good job

  • It's insane how great this is

  • Two Japanese people didn't like this video

  • Grande!!! un aplauso para los creadores....

  • HANS ZIMMER SOUNDTRACKS ARE SO EPIC :D

  • What dunce disliked this? This is awesome!.

  • This is just amazing.

  • That's just amazing! Beauitful!

But using music composed by Hans Zimmer is cheating! =P

  • @maxonzfr Hans Zimmer was commisioned to do this music.

  • The worst part of this whole video is from 2:41 onwards.

  • Whoever who disliked this was a fool. But this is really good!!!

  • Best song ever...

  • Best war serie with Band Of Brothers EVER!!! The music of this two series are amazing, they make me cry, I don't know why but they do....

  • Lol'd how only 1 person disliked this.

  • Anyone know which episode 2:14 is? That scene looked awesome, charging into the battle as everyone else falls back.

  • @ille326 It's Episode VI "Peleliu Airfield". Leckie was ordered to go back and get a medic, so really he is gooing away from the battle.

  • the greatest intro i have ever seen but cannot believe this didnt win that emmy, so sad really thought it was a winner :( beautiful design with wonderful music.

fools for not giving you that emmy and losing to that 1 minute segment to bored to death >:I

  • This is the most amazing intro I ever watched, you are awesome!

  • The 1 person who disliked is a commie.

  • what font name they are?

  • Fantastic!!!

  • Has anyone seen Saving Private Ryan?

  • THERE'S A DIRECTORS CUT VERSION??? WTF???

  • This is the only show up to date where I love the opening credits enough to watch every time I fire up a chapter.

    Artistic and powerful.

  • @GUNxSPECTRE yes, i see the credits in every chapter too, how in Band of Brothers.

  • @GUNxSPECTRE precisely,it's really amazing!

  • You forgotten to mention Creative Diretor Ahmet Ahmet!

  • @rosemadderism This edit was where we were in New York before Ahmet was involved.

  • oh, you forgotten to mention Creative Diretor Ahmet Ahmet

  • I watched this on SKY in the uk and i found this outstanding great work! :)

  • I love the pacific !!! ;0 ;))

  • great art work. really amazing. this is the best i have ever seen. simple & strong. i was surprised that soul and humanity were expressed only by charcoal and pencil.

  • fantastic work and i mean it absoloutly amazing without stuff like this it would have never inspired me to start creating or editing i hope that in my future i aspire to your levels of greatness. once again fantastic job a truely inspirational title sequence

  • Congrats on being nominated twice! Question, I was re-reading the Art of the Title article and you mentioned that you used a Casio high speed camera. Which part did you use the camera on, and how did you deal with the very low res footage (also, what speed)?

  • @jeremiahjw The casio stuff was replaced by Phantom footage in the final piece. But in this version, which is our animatic it's used in a few places. When the two lines make a cross, the swipe at the end before Tom Hanks credit. I think it was 300fps.

  • @stevefullertv Ooh, I forgot this was an animatic. The first slowmo shot looks great, the 2nd one, I can see the compression now that I know it was shot on the Casio. Still looks awesome!

  • @stevefullertv Oh, and now I'm going to go shoot some charcoal stuff with my Casio. :-P

  • Wow! This is the best man title I have ever seen. Amazing work! Hans zimmer did a great job on the music. But I have noticed that one of the composers is missing in this version ? Why that ? Good luck with the Emmy. You really deserve it!

  • i bet the one person that disliked was hitler

  • @stw1396 or Hideki Tojo? lol

  • It's two now, so I'm guessing the other is Tojo. XD

  • @stw1396 More like the Emperor of Japan.

  • Soundtrack is lifting, beautiful and inspiring. The filmwork and editing is genius. Looking forward to the award and applauding you and the team for all the hard work. Thanks.

  • wait....so you did the intro for the pacific??

  • @minablock yea if what im reading is right, he made this video got the job to actually make the real intro

  • Fucking amazing music, and a fucking amazing intro sequence. Gives me goosebumps.

  • This is really beautiful work. Very moving.

  • Steve, I adore both versions, this and the broadcast. Each has brought tears to my eyes. Better than Band of Brothers and that was exceptional work. The broadcast version began with the sound of an old clock. (I recognized the sound because my grandparents owned a clock that made the identical sound.) Are you sending us a message with the chime of the clock?

  • @insouthchicago No hidden messages from us. Hans Zimmer did the music so you you'd have to ask him. We just got nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Main Title Design.

  • @stevefullertv I suspect that all of us who viewed this are pulling for you. I certainly am. They're fools if they don't award you with the Emmy.

  • @insouthchicago That's so nice to hear. We worked a long time on this project. It wasn't easy. So it'd be nice to win an Emmy for it.

I am up against myself for Nurse Jackie so I have a better odds I guess.

  • @insouthchicago I'm form South Chicago too!

  • Can you purchase any of these?

  • this song really speaks to you. it has a botherhood sound to it. amazing...good job hans

  • Not the opening i've seen watching the show??

  • This is better than the final version.

  • truely epic.

  • This intro is as amazing as BoB's intro.

  • @stevefullertv The intro was composed beautifully. I can see why many drawings had to be cut as they probably wanted to convey that the pacific focuses on the 3 marines sledge, leckie and john. The best parts are how the charcoal medium excess blends into the explosions, and the closeup of the charcoal being sharpened symbolic of the weapons used in war.

  • best intro and show ever

  • What a BEAUTIFUL opening. The music mixed with the drawings which became real life is incredible. Not to mention the action shots. It all blended so perfectly, just amazing.

  • this is one of the best series i have ever seen i so want this on blue ray when it comes in stores, i loved every second of it

  • So you're the one who came up with the charcoal idea? Nicely done. I wish they kept they leckie face dissolve and the basilone charge in the credits. Very good work.

  • i watched the intro to the show every time! AMAZING

  • I listen to a ton of musical scores..a TON but I honestly think this one has to be among the greats. Very few scores hit you with the emotional impact that this one does.

  • Isn't there an alternate version of this theme? Can anyone find it? :)

  • where the hell is the repeat button ! I want a repeat :(

  • What's the name of this score. or is it just "Opening credits?" It sends chills up my spine.

  • @Joyride37 Honor

  • @Joyride37 i just found out it was by Hans Zimmer, one of the greatest composers of our generation.

  • love this so much. amazing

  • Simply amazing! One of the best and most memorable openings I've ever seen. Artistic, emotional, powerful.... the adjectives could go on and on.

  • This is different the other intro is better

  • Where did you get that music? It seems different thenoriginal version from soundtrack.

  • @28Deny It was given to us by the client.

  • @stevefullertv Ok I was just hoping it could be for download somewhere.

  • I wish i could make drawings like you.Impressive work

  • @larserikgill We traced video grabs then dissolved to the footage.

  • I SALUTE THE MARINES AND SOLDIERS WHO FOUGHT THE WAR!!!!!

THEY WILL ALL BE REMEMBERED TILL THE END.!!!

  • one of the most beautiful intros ever

  • Beautiful paintings and draws, but most of all beautiful animatic intro i've never saw a beautiful intro in my lifee

  • I wonder why anyone would be nuts enough to cut any part out. This is just outstanding! Best intro of any movie or TV series or anything i've ever seen.

  • Your drawings are beautiful

  • did anyone watch last mondays with the booby trapped baby

  • @RunescapeLevelHelp0 i hate that, that a very bullsht tactic, getting civilian involved. BABY to be precise

  • @kuratowakiru agreed but thats wat the japs did they were the sneakiest bull shitting meanist country ever in that war

  • It;s a beautiful sequence and hats off to you and all your team. The final cut gives me goosebumps every time.

  • I hate to see the bit with Basilone's face because i know that later he dies. Very moving music though and Brilliant Drawing and effects.

  • w/o the water drip, it look better

    /albums/ee208/kuratowakiru/facific2copy.png

i shop this base on the trailer and this is as close as i can get :'(

  • WOW this is AMAZING!! I like this clip even more than the original O_O!!

And am i reading this correctly? Did you made some of the drawings???!! If that is the case: RESPECT!!

  • @juggernoud1 Thanks. I did all the drawings in this cut.

  • @stevefullertv Stunning work man! RESPECT! Thanks for uploading this :-)

  • what a terrific opening credit, i never get tired of it, send shivers down my spine

  • Great series. Essential viewing. Makes you appreciate the veterans.

  • Do you know if sheet music will be released? I would LOVE to play this theme.

  • Excellent music, excellent drawings, excellent openings. I usually get bored by WWII movie opening titles, but this one I always sit through and enjoy.

  • Part 2

The bass drum is important, as it is in sync several times with explosion visuals (the short strobe flash sequence), and gives the explosion audio. The creeping red stain is both the ever-present Japanese flag, and blood on the ground. As the music crescendos, we see Leckie running through explosions in what quite possibly is his finest hour, heroism and courage personified. As the music and explosions fade with the end of the war, so to, the memories and emotion of the artist.

  • Part 1

The opening credits of The Pacific are fantastic, and evoked a very strong and clear interpretation of them to me.

I see the artist as an old Marineone who was in the Pacific war. The images we see are his memories, the bold, heavy strokes and breaking charcoal showing the depth and intensity of his memories and emotions as well as representing explosions and flying debris.

  • those drawings add a special significant into the movie for those watching the series and for those men that have been in a war.

  • this is very well done.... excellent job

  • Beautiful music, I can never get tired of it

  • @stevefullertv

Haha well you did fool me. But it was an amazing intro to a great series.

  • I hope we will get an extended directors cut Blu Ray this time. The series grew to short for me. A pity it had to end.

  • @stevefullertv

Oh and where are the original drawings at now?

  • @MrChiefs84 Either at Imaginary Forces or HBO? Not sure.

  • @stevefullertv

You did a wonderful job on the drawings. When I first saw the intro I was so amazed at how awesome it was. It adds something to the show that I think no other ww2 show really had. Thank you and great job!

Stupid question but did someone basically film you while you were drawing?

  • @MrChiefs84 I did the drawings, then we scanned them. Printed multiple copies of some of them. Then me and our editor filmed us drawing on top of some, and drawing long lines and shaded areas etc. It was meant to fool the viewer a bit.

  • hi, does anyone know how to do the sketch effect of 'the pacific intro' in adobe photoshop CS2? can you please send a link? thanks

  • @laycron You sketch it, then scan it in. Then you're done.

  • Thank You and Semper Fi...GySgt / USMC 88-09...

  • who made the song? its beautiful^^

  • hey whats the song name n artist?

  • @nrlknight song name is Honor by Hanz Zimmer

  • Absolutely amazing!!

  • i love this music!! and the charcoal is sooo cool! :D

  • Just beautiful, a beatiful piece of work. I ish i could draw as good.

  • Just wondering, but does anyone know what the 10 episode is going to be like ??

  • It's opening and the song is so epic

  • EPIC!
