  • I'm 17 and I really don't understand the hype in the 90's!

  • These were a big hit in the '90's. Heck, they were popular when I was young! (I'm pushing 26 now) When my childhood went, it took these with it. :(

  • I never really understood why these things were sooooo awesome. I had a bunch when I was a kid, but my parents liked them more than I did lol. Really, they were just cardboard discs with pictures and then the slammers lol.

  • I sold my pogs for quarters i still have a few and a couple slammers

  • @ 0:06 Did I just see a fried chicken leg?

  • a way to play as a gambling game: use them as poker chips

  • i say we bring pogs back....GO POGS!

  • Probably the quickest trend to come and go ever. Which sucked for me because I spent all my allowance on it.

  • thumbs up if smosh sent you

  • @AWESOMEO706 Fuck smosh, we can discover things on our own..

  • What extactaly did you do with these? I remember they were all the rage when I was in second grade.

  • this shit is hardcore!

  • I had ALOT of these things, but I never really knew how to play. And neither did my friends being in Kindergarten. So we really just like collected them lol.

  • Hahahah I remember this.

  • some kids got too good at it other kids bitch and eventually my school banned it

  • i actually still have some left lol and some slammers :) i miss the 90's -_-

  • @XMissAmyLuvsLowmanX my older brother has a shit load of pogs

  • POGS were the shit in grade school. But, this commercial seems so fake. Haha. Ah, the early '90s.

  • I thought it said "Progs" commercial. I was expecting Pink Floyd or something

  • I still have all my pogs, and those other things too. I think they're called slammers? They were more thick than pogs. I think I still have my pog-making machine. I remember making a lot of Mario Bros. pogs. I also have plenty of pogs with that hairy caveman character in the commercial too.

  • This was the 90's the years parents attacked! EVERYTHING kids liked was either banned, or taken off the air! Pogs, Barbie, and Bevis and Butthead are just a few that got hit by parents for whatever reason? Oh, and Mtv died during the 90's.

  • @ginko27 eff George HW Bush and that jerk Reagan before him for ruining our childhoods.

  • i want the 90s back so i like 2 fool around with POGS i havnt got em bak then

  • 1990s god times, good times.

  • Pogs was like gambling for kids lol

  • FUCKING EXTREEEEEEEEEEEEEEMEEEEE!!!!! Hahaa, it's like a brainwash clip...damn I can't believe I was subjected to this shit on a regular basis as a kid, haha!

  • Remember Alf? He's back! In Pog form!!

  • my mum put my pogs thro the wash, sad day, ahwell.

  • I still have all my pogs and slammers... somewhere.

  • Y'know, people like to bag on these things, but are they really any dumber than some of the stuff kids play with now?

Granted, paying real money for little cardboard circles seems pretty stupid in retrospective, but homemade ones just never seemed to work as well (for whatever reason) if you played the game itself.

It's not like this Cuponk garbage, which can easily be duplicated with a 6 pack of ping-pong balls and a disposable cup for pennies on the dollar.

  • @TBustah what about those scooters with chalk on the tail so you can leave a colourful trail as you ride

gotta get me one of those

  • watch tv, no parents buy pogs

  • THIS IS WHAT I WATCHED WHEN SAVED BY THE BELL WENT TO COMMERCIAL? No wonder my generation is all fucked up.

  • lol awesome! pog was actually a really fun game, and it was a great way to win stuff to collect stuff. back in 5th grade, in the mid 90s that was the fucking bomb!

  • Pogs were better then baseball cards....They had a distinct smell..i still have a few

  • Haha i swear theres like subliminal messages in this commercial!!

"BUY POGS NOW or GO FUCK YOURSELF"

    or

    "WARNING, Commercial may cause Seizures"

  • I liked the part when he says "pog".

  • in the Philippines.. we could go back.... even kids (espescially grade 3 to 4 ) play this!

They just dont know that the game originated in America so they thought it originated here! Even my Grade 5 friends think that it was invented by the crappy toy shops here

  • @TheDoofuspower101

yeah pogz were huge in pilipinas. i knew it was american---the idea came from hawaiian milk caps after all

the cheap quality pogz and plastic slammers were made in pilipinas lol. remember ovaltine had a bunch of promotional ones with holofoil---but the plastic kept coming off! and coca cola had so many too.

  • I want to play this game soo bad now. It's better than the crap kids call games now :D

  • bring pogs back! sub to me if you agree! I never upload so there will be no unwanted videos on the new shitty youtube homescreen for you.

  • looks like a brainwashing commercial

    oh yeah it is

  • I all of a sudden don't want to watch TV anymore O.o

  • ahaha thats so extreme

  • I miss pogs sooooo much. Mine got stolen when I was a kid >_<

  • @SamSparkus mine burned in a fire at my dads house last month :{

  • @SamSparkus Awhh lol

  • holy crap

  • I WANT TO PLAY THIS GAME!

  • Can someone explain to me what pogs are..? like what the game is?

I was born waay to late to ever experience these :L

  • @FuzzehPeach haha i basicly like "throw" a slammer ontop of the pogs (as you can see in the commercial) and those who flip- is yours now. get it?

  • @0DW what? iam confused lol

  • DAMN! i shoulda think of wanting them when i was a kid

  • f*ck ya!

  • World Pog Federation sucked ass. J&K Big Joe, Surf City, U.S.A. was the only way to play!

  • Visitez

    generation-pog.22web.net/

  • nothing but good ol memories

  • I read something about them being banned in some schools at one point in the Huffington Post. I was wondering what they were.

  • I made a bong out of the tube the pogs came in.

  • @420LaYzIe420 uncool

  • lol all the subliminal messages

  • I still have the entire 1st edition in the sheet un popped out!

  • @quexalcoatl having the sheet uncut is cool too! keep it, they will come back into populairity soon enough.

  • I loved pogs! They need to bring them back.

  • @TheSanguinePoet agreed.

  • I always thought pogs were so cool, never had a friggin' clue what to do with them though. I had a metal one at some point.

  • SOME ONE IS DOING A LITTLE BIT TOOO MUCH ECSTASY

  • I remember pogs so much. I even have my pogs still. I just can't find them. But I dont remember ever seeing any pogs commercial. ever.

  • I used to love pogs so much now watching this commercial i feel theres subliminal hypnosis going on here all i can think about now is,.....where are my pogs from 10 years ago POGS POGS POGS

  • Im currently having a seizure. god i hate accidently clicking on something and suffering brain trauma as a result... *foams at mouth*

  • I always hated how uninformed dipshits would refer to them as "bottle caps." Yeah... who actually collects bottle caps to play games with em?

  • LEGIT

  • full of subliminal messaging in propaganda. this world is sick

  • And the Generation Z equivalent out there today is the Silly Bandz.

  • @pannoni1 No way! Silly bandz don't do anything!

  • I WANT TO BUY POGS RIGHT NOW!!! MUST BUY POGS!!! THIS COMMERCIAL SOLD ME!!!!

  • what happens to the ones that arent flipped over?

  • God, such an aggressive approach to advertising. 0.o

  • I just bought 50 pogs online...

  • I might have to cover the music from this commercial.

  • Haha, I remember Pogs. Looking back at those, some of them were really dark and occult-like.

  • Must....Buy....Pogs.

  • in the 90's came pogs, in the 2000's came beyblades...

  • "If you don't have pogs....you're NOTHIN'!"

  • must...buy...pogs!

  • This is a brainwashing commercial O.o ... My brother had so many pogs but I never knew how to play XD

  • I just made a video about pogs!

I love how everything in the early nineties was hard core, even cereal commercials had guitar and screeching!

  • Dude, I love how EVERYTHING back then was so in-your-face awesome in the best way possible! This commercial gets props in my book and goes right next to the awesome brutality of the original Power Rangers, Ninja Turtles and X-men theme songs! :)

  • just yesterday i was looking to see if my pogs were where i used to keep them but my dad told me he threw them away years ago :(

  • Talk about subliminal messages, MUST BUY POGS!!!!!!

  • This looks like the DHARMA Initiative Room 23 brainwashing film from Lost.

  • i still have my damn pogs

  • Haha!! Best game I think back in the day :) I remember my "TANK Slammer of steel" it was the fatest slammer of them all.. it would take like a 50 stack of pogs like nottin, this was a huge gamling game back then i remember..

  • pogs were awesome!

me and my friends use to make em out of scrap card board and magazines and we would use big rocks like slammers!

    Good times!

  • @Stormwave666 wow lol!! dats funny bc i think they were really cheap like 50 cents or somthing did none of you really not have any change lol!!

  • i honestly forgot how to play pogs O.O

  • bro i had the metal gargoyle slammer too. was crazy

  • Who remembers those (i dont think they were Pogs) but they looked like them - they were plastic and you could join them together and they had Looney Toons Characters on them?

They came in Walkers Crips PAckets!

  • @divinitynoir i'm guessing those are tossos

  • at the end does it say "you wanna go play alone" ? hahahahahahahhah

  • old school

  • subliminal messages

  • i still have a lot of the pogs that are flashing on the screen (in mint condition too)

  • these guys made a killing

  • Pogs were definitely in fashion when I was in Class 2 at primary school. Whenever we had show and tell, kids were always bringing their collection of Pogs, until the teacher got really fed up of it and banned them.

  • omg POGS!!!!! i wish this shit came back ,,,im going to buy some now

  • @DjFML909 It originally came out in 1994 and was discontinued in late 1995!

    "dont whatch tv"

    "hide your parents"

  • obviously you dont know the meaning of the word subliminal, smartass

  • what the FUCK

    i almost shit myself

  • no one is commenting on the intensity of this commercial.

  • I remember how big pogs were in the 90's. They were everywhere!

  • I wish I still had mine, these things were the shit way back in the 90s. At age four I started stealing them from my sisters.

Man.. so cool. You can't get anymore classic than Pogs - totally a collectors thing.

  • im lucky i just got a whole container of pogs from my aunt

  • damn you kids and your nintendo videogame

  • the awasome games that we played before the sont playstation and xbox

  • okay i admit it does seem lame now, but back then this was the shit so it's unfair to say it was a "dumb fucking fad" Oh man, back in the day I had the COOLEST pogs! They were based from the show Gargoyles and the slammer was metal.. soo awesome :)

  • @starx23x no way fuck them. as far as fads go this was definately one of the better ones that came along imo. it was some fun shit! and there'd always be the competition to get as many pogs and keenies as possible. unfortunatly tho my friend's 4 year old sister lost all my fucking keenies on me when she took them to her preschool. fucking little turd! haha I still get kinda mad at the membrance of that. I would LOVE to have my keenie collection right not, I don't even have that many pogs left :(

  • talk about subliminal messages

  • I was thinking subliminal messages to. is There any subliminal messages in this pog commerical?

  • Pogs, now they were the shit in the 90's. I remember I'd always be so excited when I got my hands on one because it just used to be the cool thing to collect at the time, though I'll be honest I never did learn how to play the game and I definitely never got my hands on a slammer.

  • what are pogs?

  • IRL n00b.

  • I still have my 400 some odd pogs..and roughly 40 slammers. I love to take them out from time to time and look at them.

    R.I.P 90's.

  • um i could go for sum chikin

  • So this is why they were so big.

  • Comment removed

  • Subliminal advertising anyone? lol

  • I saw the chicken!

  • Does anyone else see the piece of chicken at 0:07

  • I think that commercial gave me a seizure

  • We had an 8 ball slammer. I remember going into MJDesigns and there being huge tubs full of pogs.

  • i miss playing pogs best child hood memory

  • Pogs was the shiznit back in my day, like 92, i tried out for the pog world championship but couldnt get a ride to Dallas for the regionals.

The whole idea of pogs was like your opponent puts up 10 discs, ya whack em with a plastic slammer thats on two fingers, (there was also like big as 1 pound slammers that was considered cheatin) and ya had to hit em on the edge so they all fly up and flip over, and the ones that flip you keep, then you put down 10 and they do it. Keep what ya win baby!

  • I think i just had a seizure..... but thanks xFlyswatterx..... i never got it either

  • This is great. Does anyone happen to know where I can get a better quality version?

  • My classmates broguht pogs into school and played with them during snack time.

They didn't even banned them. in my school.

  • OMg Pogs. If they come back out with them

I'm thinking, High school Musical, Jonas Brothers, Hannah Montana and Camp Rock theme

    25:02.

  • WTFH

  • I never really understood the game.

  • i remember my brother seeing that i had pogs and he was like lets play for keeps and i didnt know what he meant and he took all my pogs...since then pogs have haunted my dreams. i strive to collect them all!!!!! go spirit of the 90s!!!!! *insert maniacle laugh here* POGS ARE AWSOME!!!!!!! pog...

  • wow i never noticed the subliminal messages when i watch that when i has young

  • omg i had Pogs too, and many different "slammers". But actually i never really got that game :P

  • u put them all upside down in a stack then use the slammer to smack them and which ever turn right side up u keep and u play until the pile is gone. well thats how i used to play ..the person with most pogs at teh end wins

  • it's the not so subliminal messages~!

  • i used to have rare pogs but i kept them in my box i forgot where i put the key.

    waste of rare pogs
