this is gen-0 which requires constant ir illumination gen-1 and up use a different system which amplifies ambient light and can use ir illumination to inhance the brightness so if I had gen-1 and looked in the woods for you while using this you would look like the sun

They really remind me of the Eyeclops toy NVGs. They also have a switch to turn on the UV LED's and can switch from green to black and white too. If you look into a mirror with them, or look at another person wearing them, it's like they have a beacon mounted on their face.
