After reading your comments throughout, I see you DEFINATELY could've constructed your argument FAR better, perhaps you were in a rush, or you let emotions get to you.
Ads on videos, not new. Xing out sub videos works fine now.
Overall, the video commentary was a lot better. The intro, and "Sux" thing, well, not-so-much.
i just noticed something else that youtube screwed up with thins new format. when typing in comments (like this) there are certain emomotion faces you can't have in your comment. now that there's some sort of screening for text in your coments it's ruleing out anythign that doesnt' seem to be a word or number or anything normaly used in text. too bad i can't do faces now! faces like this ^^
I've just logged onto youtube and all my menus and screens are back as they were....even the comments list is back to showing them in date order, most recent at the top!!!???

Now that I can't see the rating anymore, I get videos of little girls laughing for 3 seconds on a cheap camera, Mr Wobbly Cam showing off his new shoes and Tim Smith picking his nose. I am finding myself flagging videos even more now!
I hate the new YouTube page format, it's hard to navigate, counter intuitive and the layout looks half finished or something.
YouTube claims that the new rating system is "simpler". How fucking simple do you want it to be? I think a monkey could choose between one and five stars frankly. Now we have no idea if a video is great, mediocre or bad.
Unfortunately the new Layout is here to stay, Google paid developers a lot of money to change it and they aren't likely going to put the old one back.
Clem, when you say youtube decided that for it's beta channel "everyone's gonna have it and that's final." are you saying they forcefully changed peoples channels into the beta format? i had my old channel since 2007 and decided to never try the beta format, but when it was shut down in october of last year for copyright reasons i found i couldn't choose the old format and only had the beta. so, are you getting at this situation or that they forcefully changed peoples profile without consent?

The strange thing is, how quickly it changed, one minute I was watching a video in the normal video page, but when i watched the next video, it was in the new video page.
It sucks, I know. I want 5 stars back. Funnily enough though, on my subscriptions page, THERE ARE 5 STAR RATINGS! Duh?! And I'd like the profile pic. Also, a large upload button. The info box is pretty similar, they have just moved it from on the right to underneath. You always had to click on it to show more. So that is not too much of a hardship. But WHERE IS THE REPLY WITH A VIDEO BUTTON???
I think the 5 star thing is still there on the subscriptions, uploads and favorites pages, what i think happens is, if you "like" a video it automatically gets 5 stars, and if you "dislike" it gets 1, i think they did that because no one rates between 1 and 5.
They did the "Thumbs Up/Thumbs Down" system, because most people just rate videos 1, or 5 stars: hardly anyone using 2, 3, or 4.
What I don't like, as others said, is you can't see the Like/Dislike count, unless you vote on your own. I BELIEVE the first click doesn't register: just shows the count. Second click adds your vote.
I totally agree with you! The advertisements are annoying, and also on my page the remove thing doesn't work anymore. The like/dislike thing is stupid, it's just much too rough, you just get two choices! On the old 5-star system I actually missed the possibility to give 0 stars. And the comments section is messed up completely now. I totally agree with you on that as well!!!
The other thing that's now gone are the statistics for each video, you now can't find out what parts of videos people like to watch, now can you see what videos are popular in different countries, the statistics are not there now, bring them back, they were good.
I found the statistics, on the new "improved" video page, there's a button to the right of the view count, that opens up a box with that shows all the statistics.
@CoolDudeClem youtube now has become a tube full of shit stuff, the main reason is the google ads , doesnt mean u hav millions of views the video will be good, google ads makes ppl do any shityy stuff juz to get money, and the desperados will do vids bout farting , stupid jokes and serious waste of mankind. there is no more pureness in making video, i dont mind if the video really is good but majority of the videos which are popular are total junk, they should juz get a real job.
One more thing I hate. The 'HOME' button is gone. If you link to a couple other vids, to get back to your homepage you either need to multi-click the back arrow on your browser, or leave YouTube and come back on. What a friggin' hassle.
Plus, we cannot customize our home pages (not our profiles). We cannot share videos to other users. We cannot always post video responses if set on approval!

Comments are sloppy now.
I do miss the star ratings; I hate going to people's videos list and have to click on them just to see how much it's liked or disliked, individually.
They used to just have 1~5-stars ratings displayed right under each video.

Yeah, the biggest problem with the adverts, when they pop-up in front of the video. And especially the ones which play before.
The rest of the video page sucks too. Worst design of any video site out there. Bollox.

It seems that way, they removed the old channel style, so to make sure no one lost thier channel, they had to "update" everyones existing channel.
