  • Thank you ajahn, I am able to meditate for maybe 30-45 minutes the most. My legs then start to numb, and really starts to hurt. I am trying to increase my time and just relax, maybe with more meditation practice I can develop. Thank you

  • Great.

  • =0

  • even if you dont make any progress meditating convensionally listing to all the wise ones

  • i like accepting being a human who is so vulnerable . theres gotta be some complete and utter oppisite side of the universe sling back full tilt that i was never vonerable laghing just living ;)

  • Very well explained. The only other person I have seen who can really also explain this I Shinzen Young who also has many you tube videos. Thank you for your message.

  • Face of a Foreign Legionaire but heart of a Buddha : ) Thanks for the info. It'll be useful on my next Vipassana retreat.

  • thank you so much bhante !

  • Very helpful, thank you. It sounds like you are in a very beautiful place! :)

  • You can definately talk about this topic much more. Many meditators hold themselves back with poor reactions to pain and the urge to move while sitting.

  • your very wise , I'm a martial artist , your information about meditation and pain is very usefull

    thank you

  • you have a beautiful smile, and explain things very well and in plain english. I,m only just embarking on my journey, and I know that you have helped me immensely many thanks and much love.

  • Yes very informative. I am able to sit and meditate at best for 45 minutes but average 30 mintues because of the pain. I am still trying to be mindful of the pain and see it has anicca. I hope to meditate longer because I do feel at peace afterward and loving kindness.

  • you sound like you are a beautiful person; your comment inspires hope in me to know that others have hope and loving kindness even when life gives us very hard physical challenges. thank you.

  • Hi, my main problem from meditation is sore bottom. No I'm not trying to be funny. Every so often I will stretch my legs, touch my toes, and raise my bottom up for a few seconds, turn my head this way and that. Does anyone else have the same problem ie sore backside?

  • I had my doubts about stretching before meditating;

now, I'll remember to always do Yoga before sitting still.

I have a problem with my legs going numb; even stretching before hand they STILL go numb.

thanks for letting me know its mental after all; guess there's nothing wrong with my legs.

  • @stardingo747 As long as it's just hip discomfort and not knee joint pain, you can keep sitting and just watching it.

  • thanks for the helpful talk. i found that metta helps, its also an opportunity to remember all those sentient beings suffering. i.e. starving and sick people. pain is also an opportunity especially when we have no choice but to experience it. when i have migraines, i try to be mindful and it helps. i also take the pain as a trigger to practice mindfulness and patience

  • If you get migraines, I strongly recommend the Alexander Technique. Its great, really sorts things out.

  • And I strongly recommend you to find good ostheopath. They can really help and ostheopathy is 100% safe method, not like manual therapy for example.

  • more on meditaion please

  • Fantastic! I've been pondering how I could approach pain in meditation for awhile now. I got a few answers, but never in detail such as yours. I will apply this to my next meditation, thank you so much for sharing this advice/wisdom! :)

  • Thank you for uploading these videos. I really learned a lot.

  • Eric, I remember telling you how helpful this lesson is to me. While we're still relatively healthy (relatively, ha ha in my case now:))) we can take time to look at physical pain, learn that it has two sides, a physical and a mental, the mental usually being, at the same time, the most anguishing and yet the most controllable! Kind of uplifting!
