@suavemente74 I'm not sure which comment you were replying to - I'm guessing my comment which was a reply to panelacosmicas who was talking about the first track in this video - Seo Fernandez "Remenea" which is salsaton (which he mistook for hiphop).
I believe Cubaton is also known as Reggaeton "a lo cubano". So basically reggaeton created by cuban artists - with their musicality and style.
@kazzart Ahh... I stand corrected. ; ) Thanks. You know, it's a little confusing sometimes as some timba bands sprinkle hints of reggaeton.. and you're left wondering if this the "a lo Cubano" of it.
It's so funny listening to that hiphop/salsa music in this video, u look like asian but in london listening to the latino thing heehehe and u play Jazz as well, so great!... greetings from S.A. btw... good video, bye !
Hi, thanks for the comment. The genre is called salsaton (or cubaton) actually. I guess it's what cubans like to listen & dance to these days (other than the traditional stuff). Latin America has a great many different styles of dance and music but I specifically like cuban music/dance - not just "latino" in general LOL. I also love brazilian zouk-lambada. :) And yeh jazz is great stuff. Ageless music.
Hey Kazzie! Finally made it by to check out the next installment. Looks as if you've danced with these folks a few times before... maybe not tho judging from your answer to DallasGuyZ.
Lots of spinning and moving around, too... I'm sure quite a bit of incidental grabbing and groping happens. Maybe that adds a little to the allure, eh? ;-P
Thought we were going to lead into the 4th part of this series with a new vid called "When Wild Squirrels Attack!!!" Thank God you weren't killed!
Hey hey. Hm wat do u mean? The ppl who come to Rueda in the Park are a regular group who also did this last summer, and most of them also go to a wed nite salsa class/club. Esp as the organiser of this is also the organiser of the wed cuban connection nite.
Yes.. salsa as a partner dance does naturally involve spinning. :P
But as for "grabbing/groping" thing - that's a bit of a common misconception about salsa. It may look like a sexy dance, but its not seedy/sleazy in any way.
I have danced with a few of these guys more than once before seeing as I generally see alot of them on both wed nite and sun afternoon.
When dancing salsa, both partners are pretty much too preoccupied with leading/following the lead (which can get pretty complex) and enjoying & keeping in time with the music to bother with thinking about any form of groping/sleaziness.
Attempting to grope for a guy is surefire way to never dance with that girl (or any other girl) on the dance floor again. The people I salsa with are generally incredibly polite. We always say thank you after a dance too.
Sometimes there can be some sleaze/pick up attempts at clubs - but this sunny sunday afternoon event definitely does not have that club night atmosphere about it!
Well actually it only elicited 0.5 + 0.5 replies. The rest was in answer to your first paragraph. :P
The squirrels are cute. :) I saw one once standing at the feet of a guy feeding them and it actually reached out with one hand up to him as if to say "Please sir.. give me some food". :D
SAlsa clubs are the same. Also even the mexican clubs when they dance la banda style. Where you have to have close contact. The sleezy bastards are fast to be isolated from everyone else just trying to have fun...
A glimpse into the glamorous life of Kazz is always a treat. :-)
A few things:
1) Was that a Lady (of Lady and the Tramp fame) shirt?!
2) You and the guy in the red shirt seemed to dance very well together. At least in my humble opinion. ;-)
3) I love how you stopped to film the squirrel on the way home! When I travel, I stop to take pictures of the squirrels. Doesn't matter where I am, the squirrels are the main attraction for me! :-p
1) Yes indeed it is! Good spotting! It's a disney range Lady and the Tramp tshirt from Mango. :)
2) Why thank you! But I believe the reason we seem to dance well together is because he is a very good leader and dancer. It's all abt the guy's leading in salsa! :)
3) Heheh well you would absolutely love this area of hyde park. There are always squirrels here and they are so tame! They'll eat out of your hand. So cute!! ^^
Nice!! Thank you for the Sunday. The dancing was wonderful, and I am still digging the hair!! I should start a pool on how long it will get...lol. Don't ask for my vote, I'm keeping it a secret. ;P
Omero... 1:18 - REMENEA by Seo Fernandez. This is salsaton.
suavemente74 1 year ago
Actually, those are timba Cubana... not cubaton... although Adalberto Alvarez's 'Deja La Mala Noche' at the beginning is more son than timba.
Cubaton is basically timba + reggaeton. Salsaton is salsa + reggaeton.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

@kazzart Remeana was actually a hip hop song but then it was remix to Salsaton. This is actually the remix.

Wow... the groping comment must be a bit of a hot button to elicit 3 replies from you!
No worries, hun... just joking as usual... ;-)
I really enjoyed watching this vid. It reminded me of some partner dancing I did for a class in school many, many moons ago.
I am a little disappointed, tho... My much better (i.m.o.) squirrel joke didn't receive any love at all... :'-(
