1st. So the Infectors can still mutate them.

2nd. even if they do mutate since there is a game glitch of when you cut off both a necromorphs arms they instantly die that means the mutated corpses doesn't go back to life.

3rd. Since they got mutated and instantly died you get an Item for each one o them.

Am I right?

@buttermen1 Well, the corpses can, I mean the virus was able to spread because the Red Marker makes everyone goes insane and kills each other. It's just the dead space around the Marker where corpses can't be changed.

@VladFerdinand1 Basically, if you remove the arms of a corpse while leaving the rest intact, the corpse will spawn dead when the Infector Infects it. makes for great fun.
