  • the radio station where I live stopped carrying the Dr Demento show but I see there is enough youtube videos of demented songs that MTV should give Dr Demento a weekly TV show since I have cable

  • I bought a Panasonic auto reverse boombox so I could use C120 cassettes on the timer to get Dr D every sunday. Those tapes mysterious disappeared, sure wish I still had them. What was Dr Demento's real name? I can't remember, Barry ?

  • A little bit of heaven, 94.7

    KMET - tweedle-dee

  • Born in 1966 and I listened every Sunday night from 10 to midnight. Definitely a dementite...lol. This is so great. CBS Radio Mystery Theater all week and Sunday with the Doc. Couldn't wait to hear the top 5 of the week. Wish I could still hear it.

    Thanks for this!

  • I remember the 4 hour show from the Mighty MET! He is a great hero to me. I would love some of that memorabilia! Thanks for sharing!

  • please list all the songs names i grew up to this

i gota few but not all of them

  • Does anyone remember or have a recording to post of E.T. For Breakfast by John Christensen? I remember hearing it on Dr Demento here in Chicago. The gist of the song was baout some hunter and his dog named Jaws hunting fo E.T. as if he were a quail or something.

  • Boy this brings back mrmories thanx Dude LMAO

  • dr demento has rocked my world since I was about 11 lmao ps I was never allowed to sing dead puppies when I was at grandma's making stew sigh no sense of humor I swear lmao I miss this show

  • DR. DEMENTO fans! Hear the Doctor's visit to the Dave's Gone By radio show, live Saturday, March 19, 2011, 10am-1pm(MT) on UNC Radio (uncradio. c0m). Missed it? Catch it, free, in the show's audio archives at davesgoneby. c0m.

  • I used to listen every Sunday nite back in 1980-82 High School days. I want to hear again that old Moral Majority song but cannot find anywhere.

  • @jvarela965 I was born in 1965 as well and I used to listen to the Dr. the same years as you.

I used to record the shows on Cassette tapes on my "Boombox" aah the good ole days

  • @digitizedbob I remember a song by two guys named Moral Majority by Mayfield & Nissen . I have been looking for years for it.

  • Takes me back to my High School Days listening to Dr. Demento.

  • Good memories. The Dr. would keep me company every Sunday Night on the long drive back to school every week.

The good Dr. just fell off the dial, but he'll be remembered by those of us who do and don't admit it.

  • And who could forget the Christmas show every year!

  • I love dr demento so much ! I started listening in the early 70's.

  • (shaving cream theme song)

I really love this song about Dr. Demento!

His songs made a really great show.

I don't like the songs that they play today, not even a little bit.

Why? Because they all sound like shhh ... aving cream.

Be nice and clean. Listen to this song and you'll know what I mean.

  • @christopherm2k

Nice rhyme that's funny and you hit it on the nose on that one

  • @n1qeh62 Thank you. You are kind. I fondly remember listening to the great Dr. D. songs that my sister sent me on cassette. (remember those things) Unfortunately, my tapes turned into shaving cream and I can only listen to these songs through the benefit of people like normk1111. Thank you for sharing these treasures.

  • my childhood.. wow.. i listened to every show.

  • I miss the Doctor soooo much!...in L.A. I used to listen to him on "The Mighty Met- 94.7- KMET!"

  • @hhairball9 GODDAMMIT I MISS KMET.....KLOS just doesn't stack up

  • 0:14 i am going to los angeles pretty soon...at least that is what I am told.

  • I remember listening to Dr. Demento many years ago on (I think) KZOK in Seattle. Definitely some way-out-there classics... somewhere in the bowels of my home there's a Dr. Demento album with a few of the most popular tunes on his show-

I also loved the *original* closing theme, it was a really catchy tune. I think it was called "Home Sweet Home"...

Thank you for posting this and bringing back some far-out memories!

  • Yes that was on too but I recall Mike Harrison as well, the schedule must have changed at some point. I think MH was on after Dr. D in the later years. He was fun to listen to.

  • Take away the top hat and he kind of looks like Marc Levin.

  • WIND UP YOUR RADIOS!!!!!!!

  • I think when Dr d is gone Weird Al should pick up the staff and run with it.

  • This is great! Does anyone remember a skit about Timmy and the arcade? His dad came and unplugged the machine right before he won! I remember it, and I thought it may be from one of his shows.

  • Dr. Demento and his show is a good example of what's missing in popular culture today....ORIGINALITY.

  • I still have some old demento shows on cassette tape.I love dr demento

  • Remember when it was the Top Ten with fewer commercials? I actually remember many of these songs, either as released or as played by my babysitter.

  • I was there -

    Lil' bit-a heaven 94.7 KMET twiddle-dee

    Dr. Demento 6:00PM - 10:00 PM Sundays

What ever happened to all those crazy side kick personalities he used to have in the studio? I would love to see a reunion!

  • Ahhh...The MIghty Met...Used to listen to Dr Demento every Sunday night when I was a kid ..and then Mike Harrison (Or Harrisons Mike, I cant remember the name of the show exactly) after him

  • Yes, Mike Harrison followed Dr. D. He actually had a pretty good late night show with a pleasent voice to listen to. I remember Harrison's theme, actually a medley of several put together. The Mighty Met was a great station, America lost something cultural and special the day it ceased to exist and became the worthless "wave". Whatever corporate clown made that deal should have been shot.

  • @just2amuse I was one of them.....

  • I have an old Zappa album. The Doc played one of the tunes & to my suprize it ended with something that wasn't on the album. Zappa said, : "Since you took the shots" to Suzy Creamcheeze.

  • I've got tapes I recorded of his show from '83 & onward.

  • I was lucky enough to be able to listen to the Doc live every Sunday on KMET, and then for awhile on KLXS before he disappeared and I stopped listening to the radio.

I was also lucky enough to hear him again live on a KMET tribute day not too long ago.

Other than that, I REALLY THE MISS DOCTOR DEMENTO SHOW! :(

At least I can hear him on here now. That's almost as good. :)

  • Best Radio show on earth, it's just to bad I moved to Florida where I can't hear the show anymore. But thanks to the Internet I can hear the show again!

  • im a record collector from way back....he played some real obscure stuff....one of the oddest was "some people think chickens have lips" can't find it...help?

  • I remember hearing a song that went..."matso balls gefeltha fish makes me want to order up an extra dish"... I find myself out of nowhere singing that line. Somebody help me w/ the title.

  • I want someone to return the old recordings and the Dr. Demento I would listen to it..

  • More classic Dr. D, please!!!! And don't forget the Funny Five!!!!

  • I too miss Dr. D. on my Radio

  • Great Dr. D stuff. I remember every Sunday night laying in bed from 10 to midnight listening to the songs I enjoyed but couldn't hear anywhere else. STAY DEEEEEMENTED!!!!

  • @MeMadMusic then you must remember KMET
