Am I the only one who thinks the sound is too good to be from 1963?
If you compare with Bad To Me that also was recorded in 1963 you will hear a difference in the quality. I think this song was recorded in John's house duringe the late 70's or maybe from the later Get Back/Let It Be-sessions.
Quite possibly the only one. It was released in the 60s by the fourmost, who Lennon gave it to, if you listen to the demos on anthology this would be quite consistent with the stuff of that time. It doesn't really fit with any of his later stuff either.
@ZachariasWilbury96 (I'm the same person that made this video) It doesn't really matter at what time you think this is because I KNOW that it's 1963,..jeez getting bored of these comments,...I wrote 1963 beacause it IS 1963. End of.
@xXOneHotLennonXx Okey then, I belive you. Can you please upload the other songs from this session then? I mean so i can hear the other songs, you said that they recorded I Saw Her Standing There (which take?) and a couple of other songs. (Which songs?)
@ZachariasWilbury96 Well god knows where to find it now. I uploaded this video 3 years ago. If I knew where it was I'd upload it. I'm not lying. Why would I? If I didn't know what year it was in and someone told me it was after the Beatles, I'd believe them. But I know for a fact that this is 1963. So there shouldn't really be any arguing here.
@xXOneHotLennonXx As I told you before, I do indeed belive you. To bad we can't hear the other songs thou. Thanks for the upload and please forgive my ignorance, hope I didn't cause you to much trouble. I just looked at some of your other videos and it turns out that we both are two 16 year old persons who just can't have enough of The Beatles & John Lennon, am I right? Peace! //o-o\\
I'm the creator of this video and to people who think this isn't 1963, but much later...well another group recorded this song in the 60's...search for it.
Huh. To me, it sounds like an early version of "Should have known better". But, then again, I like this one, much, much more... I don't know when this song was recorded but to me it doesn't sound like the 70s.
This recording is John at home in the 70s playing piano and there are no other Beatles present. There is a demo recorded in 1963 for Dick James Music publishers that exists on metal acetate but it has not surfaced among collectors as of yet. There is also most likely session tape of John working on this song at Abbey Road Studios with the Fourmost but that also is not available
@keith27012 (I'm the creator of this video) this isn't in the 70's...I know that. I've heard the whole session with this in and the boys are there singing other songs of 1963. Also, how could John say he didn't remember taping this in 1963 if he did it in the 70's? I know I'm right. Don't want an argument..
This is a really great piece of music.....The rhythm-beat on the piano superb.....This is a colossal sound....love this.....In the same league as Rain....and Across the Universe....Fantastic!!!!
who is that on piano? john was not good at the piano untill 1966 and even then he wasnt that good. For a 1963 demo it is very great sounding hmmmmmmmm?
John was targeted by the government because of his control over a wide range of people and populations not only here but around the world! He summed it up himself when he said simply that," The Beatles Were More Popular Than Jesus Christ"! Literally speaking he was right and so did others too, so they eliminated him!
this shouldve been recorded..but maybe they thought it was too oldies sounding..more Elvis.. more early 60s pop and not enough Beatle-esque..maybe they couldve slowed it down..its a very good song..and shows McCartney was not the only tunemeister of the group
Hey everyone - I am the same person as Lennonreansrocknroll..lol Check out my new channel - although there isn't much atm..I'm always working on something new :)
Hi Magpieeye Cynthia was the first wife and had Julian to Mr Lennon.. gave john his first child.. you say that Yoko have John his first child 3days ago?
@TheChazzer77 Ummm, no, I was having a discussion with "SandyPrincessPatty" about Cynthia and Yoko. When I said "SHE" I was referring to Cynthia giving John his first son, not Yoko.
They actually gave those songs to the Fourmost (Hello Little Girl & I'm In Love) to promote them, since they were also managed by Brian Epstein. These songs are the most notable ones the Fourmost ever did, the fans only supported the songs because they knew John and Paul wrote them. These aren't the only songs they gave away, they also gave "Bad to Me" to Billy Kramer and the Dakotas and that too made it to the charts.
This recording of John is a lot later than most people think. This one is believed to be recorded around the time when John recorded Free as a Bird which dates it in the late 70's. Many Beatles historians are debating over this because it is believed that in 1963 John isn't that good with the Piano yet.
@HoneyPie23100 Cynthia is a bitter ex-wife who after 4 marriages has still kept Lennon's last name because that's the only thing she's known for. And to this day is still cashing out on his legacy. She exaggerated everything and victimized herself to a great extent. Ugh. I hate Cynthia.
@magpieeye Yeah, I do think Yoko is better. She did give John his first child, which was an accident that neither of them were ready for. So, that's not really a point in her favor.
can anybody out there tell us which band finnally recorded this song in 63? It was a band coming out of the same entourage and managed by brain epstein (B.Kramer or something?) Anyway this is Johyn singing it in the seventies... Thanx
Whatever it is, and wherever the talent comes from, there's nothing mysterious in seeing that they had to work hard to develop the personal means of expressing that it. It's like having something important to say but you find yourself in a foreign country. You must learn the language to be heard. If you feel that what you have to say is that important then you work ten times as hard as the tourist who is only visiting and just wants to speak enough to get around and see a few sights..
Their talents and abilities needed work to bear fruit and they worked brutally hard at it. I don't think being working class was much of a factor. Maybe part of that talent is the drive needed to develop it. I enjoy discussing things like this with someone like you who gives thought to the discussion but the only thing I find mysterious is the actual talent itself. What is it that gives them the ability to write so many memorable and loved melodies? Where does that come from?
Why would you go ahead and say that this was recorded in 1963? Also, why would you go ahead and say that the other Beatles were present during this recording when you obviously don't know any of this for a fact? How do you even know for sure that this is rare? When you post things like this on the internet, many people take it as fact. You're spreading misinformation that after a time becomes fact in the minds of some. You are a damn fool and a jerk!
@menoziinrevoltado George Martin said that he gave up learning to play the guitar because at the time some of the Beatles (I guess John and Paul) had taken to learning the piano and were so much faster at picking it up. This track though suggests maybe John was a little more than a novice. Don't think it is such a mystery though. They spent hours with other musicians presumably with piano's kicking about.
@menoziinrevoltado Why do you think it's mysterious? I doubt he took lessons and then put aside time to practice everyday. Most likely he just picked it up along the way in bits aand pieces. Listening, watching and doing! With his obvious musical ability, I'm sure it took no great effort.
@changing3 It's mysterious because they were 4 working class boys who knew how to play guitars and harmonicas and, suddenly, they get to know chords progressions, vocal ranges (harmonies) and piano playing in Hamburg/those early days. It's clear they did learn all that by being around musicians and whatnot but it amuses me. John composed stuff on the piano before "I Want To Hold Your Hand" and he didn't have a piano neither did the others. Don't get me started on Paul's orchestral abilities...
@menoziinrevoltado Everything you say is true and you obviously find the story and unique qualities of the Beatles fascinating... as I do. They knew how to play guitars and harmonicas because they learned to play them. For some of those without such massive musical talents as they had, it might seem like they got to know some of those things suddenly but it's all relative. I'm sure they learned very quickly, but not suddenly. I believe those talents and abilities need work to bear fruit.
John did a lot of 'reminiscing' with his old songs, including one I have on cassette with him messing around with "Girl" in-between takes of "Woman"...I think this sounds more like one of those times he was 'reminiscing' on the piano at the Dakota...something he said he often would do to get inspired to write new material.
@pianorman Wow! I have the same tape. He also mentioned the similarities between the two. Actually it sounds more like Here There and Everywhere, which was Pauls.
@CubanCheGuevara No you dont ! ; dont 'agree' with what i didn't say for your own convenience.Look at what i DID say about YOUR comments. You dont put words in MY mouth sunshine ; who are you trying to kid ? .Maybe you didnt understand your OWN comments about wanting ANYONE 'gone'
