I think one of the reasons there are so many homeless people in forida,california and hawiia is because alot of other citys have these programs where they will buy one way tickets for there homeless people to get rid of them,they figure let them be someone elses problem,but more rehabs and programs would be more cost effective than sweeping the problem under the rug,out here in venice beach most of the homeless i talk arent even from here.
And as far as police they should be respected until they do something that in there heart they feel is wrong. But that's how everyone should be! Police have helped me out a lot they have warned me about certain areas when I was on the streets and where food banks and drop in shelters were. And speaking of shelters many use elderly for there SSI and as far as Salvation Army and Red Cross you were one of the lucky few if you got help I have asked many times in many states and they had less money..
I have been homeless in three different states and have picked myself back up each time. I have a 2 year old son and I'm afraid for him. I don't him to experience anything that's going to happen. All of the jobs that exist right now in the world will either be obsolete or replaced with another job your not qualified for. I have been homeless in three different states and have picked myself back up each time. I have a 2 year old son and I'm afraid for him. I don't him to experience anything that's going to happen. All of the jobs that exist right now in the world will either be obsolete or replaced with another job your not qualified for. Hi I had to comment..Most of the comments I heard here are credible on both sides. You can say the police are only doing there job and you can say that these tents are the only homes they have. The bottom line is people need to open there eyes across the world there are more and more of these tents popping up which means ONE THING we are all S.O.L. it's just a matter of time when we are all homeless and we have a bunch of empty apartments and houses and the only job you can get it is WAL-Mart.

Question 1: Did these people own the property the tents were on? If not they are trespassing. Question 2: Did they own the tents? If so did they pay property taxes and have permits on these HOMES? I see sings in a lot of fast food places saying "help wanted".
I saw a homeless guy with a big dog begging money on the side of the I40 ramp and he was smoking. IF he can afford $5 or more packs of tobacco then he can afford to eat! How does he feed that monster dog?

Did destroying their shelter give them a place to live? Did taking their belongings clothe them? Homeless people have it bad enough. This was unnecessary. They should have been told to go somewhere else if necessary. This was a cruel and pointless act. Most homeless people would love to have a job. Are you hiring any?

If they have been homeless for awhile, they go to apply for an apartment, they will be turned down simply because they don't have recent renting information. So, how would this work?

While it IS true that some just REFUSE to work, MANY homeless today LOST their jobs and could NOT find work, have been evicted from their homes, and have no place to go.

If this was on city property, it was justified. You do not have any rights to squat on what isn't yours unless you have permission of the owner. If this was on private property, at the request of the owner, the police only had the right to remove the tents; not destroy them. If this was not at the request of the property owner, it is government violating property rights in the worst way imaginable.
