  • This doesn't look too difficult. The hardest part would appear to be putting the pyramids together. Reforming those into a 20 sided shape is the easy bit. ;) Congrats on all your pyramids. Looks tedious.

  • it is a stellated icosahedron. it's pretty easy to make on. just 20 tetrahedrons combined togheter. if you make a pentagonal base out of 5 neocube tetrahedrons than the rest is very easy ;)

  • @imadamjad1 Its easy when you know how ;) I agree. It is definitely time consuming and is still the most difficult considering even the most complex shapes are very easy to construct.

  • @cbrian4, it should be 380: 20 (points) * 19 balls per point.

    To get to the 19 balls per point: one face has 10, the second face has 6 balls not on the first face, the third face has 3 balls not on the other two faces.

  • You are correct except that the first face only has 9 in it, second has 6, third has 3 and the point is 1 so yeah 19x20= 180

  • @cbrian4, i was counting the faces rather than the rows.

    How you counted it betrays how i suspect that you built it. Make a regular, flat-sided icosahedron with 9-ball triangles. On each face, layer a 6-ball, then 3-ball, and 1-ball triangle.

    I don't have 380 balls, but it wasn't hard to add pointy faces to an icosahedron. The alignment on the points largely self-corrects. The only tricky part may be not crushing it when attaching the last few points.

    Cool idea, not *that* challenging.

  • i tried this the other day its not easy at all its a pain in the ass, yes u make triangles but its a pain trying 2 keep them from joining and when they do its a bitch to seperate them i gave up :P i stuck to a cube haha btw can you do other complicated things with them?

  • Yeah I'm curious how you made that cause making a 2d Triangle using 9 balls is easy, but if you try to stick one in the middle it makes it want to fall apart due to all the forces working against each other. So not sure if it's the 3D aspect of the triangle that prevents that or not, still nice piece though! How many 216 sets did it take for you to make that shape?

  • @AutumnLeafiffy LOL you probably don't have these magnets then. Its not the complexity thats challenging, its the fact that the magnet's HATE being in pyramid form. As far as I know, it is impossible to make a 4 sided pyramid of THIS SIZE and have it stay together singularly. They must be in this formation in order for them to stay together. Now the larger the pyramids are, the easier they get to form, but its still pretty challenging.

  • @Valinxh Impossible to do with the size pyramids Im using in the video. If you make it bigger then yes, otherwise build an icosahedron and then add the layers.

  • @ILikeToEatCookies121 At this size though, you have to build the icosahedron first then build on top. Once you know how to do it, it isn't difficult, its just time consuming.
