This is a stupid question I'm sure but the fan cover over his pickup doesn't serve any purpose besides decoration I assume? Unless maybe it's there to shield the pickup from Phil so he doesn't damage it with his pick?

@hcgazoo Actually there is no pick up in there. It is just a fun interesting way to cover the hole.

He usually uses Gibson P94s (p90s in a humbucker shape) in the bridge, and none in the neck, but he is always swapping them out, so I could be wrong.

i remember seeing Phil's name on the artist list on ESP's website last year. He's not there anymore, because I think his endorsement with ESP ended. Yamaha is endorsing him now. Also I think Phil mentioned something about them making a signature guitar for him on one of his youtube comments. :D

@superstriker00 It's not a pickup. It's a computer's power supply metal grid that he put on his guitar.  There is a video where he explain how he got that guitar. The stickers and grid are his idea because he didn't like the color of the guitar. This guitar was given to him. He got it just before playing for Alice Cooper of Rob Zombie..I dont remember which one.
