I prefer a semi sweet or dark chocolate for these strawberries, but if you like milk chocolate better, then go for it! Melt it in exactly the same way..
@ichijofangirl1 No Ma'am, it's not. This is how easy it is. I just melt 4 ounces of dark chocolate (it can be chips) with 1 tablespoon of Crisco (in the microwave, usually) and stir really well. That will coat 12 to 15 large strawberries. Then I melt the same amount of white chocolate and Crisco and dip the strawberries a second time in that. Any leftover chocolate I drizzle over. Actually, it's better to do the white chocolate first and then the dark chocolate. Good luck!
@bhermoth Hi there! The strawberries gets squishy and soggy if you put them in the refrigerator after they're coated in the chocolate. You should eat these on the day they're made and they'll be fine.
@bhermoth do prevent the from being squishy in the microwave do the following. On the bottom of the storing contaner put a paper towl with baking soda on it. put on strawberries then cover. doin this should keep your strawberrie for about a week.
I had an idea for Christmas chocolate covered strawberries, can I pull off mixing the white chocolate with green food coloring or is there another way for a green chocolate?
How long can you keep the strawberries in the fridge for? Can you keep it i the fridge for about 15 hours and still be good? Do you need to take the strawberries out and let it cool in room temperature? How long?
@Aznzmangoo The best thing is to make the chocolate covered strawberries (and eat them) the same day. They can certainly stay out all day-12 hours is fine-as long as it's not too hot in the room. You should refrigerate any leftovers. They can be eaten for a few days after, but the strawberries get mushy. It's not necessary to bring them to room temperature, the strawberries might get even more weepy. They're safe to eat from the fridge, they're just not as good.
For melting a chocolate of any% of cocoa you use the same technique, break the choc bar into equally small pieces in microwave oven safe dish, and leave first three periods for 20 sec in the microwave oven (normal program), and then put out and mix for 20 sec with spoon and so on, when starts melting you leave in the mic oven for 10 sec and 10 sec for mixing. The temp of melted choc. have to be no more than 113 F (45°C), and working temp for dipping no less than 88 F (31°C)
Here's a tip, use a piece of baking paper and fold it into a very small piping bag, so you an draw nice decorations, You should also wait until the chocolate becomes very hard before you continue with the second layer, I'm a Belgian chocolate artisan, so if you would like to have some more tips... just ask

If you only have chocolate syrup, then just pour it over the strawberries and enjoy. Don't try to coat them in it. The sauce will just drip off. A little vanilla ice cream wouldn't hurt either.
