My view on this: The word "Gay" used to only mean "happy" and this wasn't TOO long ago. Did anyone have that much problem when it changed over time to mean homosexual? It is just a word, really. EVERY word we say is really just a word. Words don't have power or meaning unless we make it so. I'm black, but I don't get offended everytime someone uses the words "black" and "dark" because I know what they mean.

@iPrankable I'm bisexual and I'm offended by it. A lot of the gay people I know are bothered by it but don't speak up to avoid adding more drama into their lives. A whooe lot of LGBT-friendly blogs I read, which are largely staffed by gay men and women, also take offense to the phrase being used as a synonym for "something I dislike".
Personally it's not as strong a word to me as fag is but it still puts me on the defensive, and it can be a depressing reminder of how I'm seen by society.

What I meant is that the americas are hardly for white people, and when you were listing that countries should be segregated by race, I was trying to show how coexistence is expected in "non-white" countries too, not just "white" ones.

The point I made about Iran is that a lot of groups talk about "respect" but what they are actually trying to do is limit the freedom of speech of others to the point of being held liable under law. People like that should move to where their "idea" is the norm so they can see how they like they it.

My view on this: The word "Gay" used to only mean "happy" and this wasn't TOO long ago. Did anyone have that much problem when it changed over time to mean homosexual? It is just a word, really. EVERY word we say is really just a word. Words don't have power or meaning unless we make it so. I'm black, but I don't get offended everytime someone uses the words "black" and "dark" because I know what they mean.

@iPrankable I'm bisexual and I'm offended by it. A lot of the gay people I know are bothered by it but don't speak up to avoid adding more drama into their lives. A whooe lot of LGBT-friendly blogs I read, which are largely staffed by gay men and women, also take offense to the phrase being used as a synonym for "something I dislike".
Personally it's not as strong a word to me as fag is but it still puts me on the defensive, and it can be a depressing reminder of how I'm seen by society.

I dont understand why people havent got this message yet: If you restrict words they become more powerful. Look at the word n****r.
