when my mum was young it was common for the eldest to be sick and rest to be hindu. I am hindu but have never walked past a gurudwara without sitting in the peaceful beautiful temple and praying. we are essentially a tolerant, secular people - lets celebrate that

Dear weirdindia , We don't have problem with hindu brothers reading or preaching gurbani , neither do we have any animosity with krishna . We sikhs also respect shri ram and shri krishna as avatar , but false is false !
Gobind -> Go + bind ( Go means world , bind means basis / center ) . So , gobind means " basis of existence of universe " which is god .
Gopal -> Go + pal ( pal in hindi means nourisher , as in "palne wala" ) .
@sarabification : The ways are different - there is a way of prayer which starts and ends with the formless. There is a way of meditation, which starts with forms (one or many) and ends on the formless since it is difficult, almost impossible to meditate on the formless for beginners. The most advanced ISKCon people will tell you about the formless.
@sarabification You are right "he is not just dark-skinned Krishna" Its way more than it. Krishna is his Incarnation in most devine form . Quotes from gita For God is infinite, Within the body and without, Like a mirror, And the image in a mirror. As the air is everywhere, Flowing around a pot And filling it, So God is everywhere, Filling all things And flowing through them forever. " Hare Krishna......
In Hinduism we do not call any teacher a Guru. We do not call preachers as Guru. We do not call mendicants and those who perform the rituals as Guru. Guru is supreme God according to the truth revealed by Hinduism thousands of years ago.
A Guru is God in all the senses. We believe that God comes in human form as guru to give salvation to his disciples. The definite text on Guru is Guru Geeta, which sings Guru's glory.
@weirdindia -Thanks, Its so soothing song, Every time i listen it brings me close and close to lord almighty.
I dont care where this lines are from I know it manifest glory of almighty . Krishna said in gita " It does'nt matter which path you take all paths leads to me,like all branches lead to stem of tree."
@weirdindia "Science with religion is lame. Religion without science is blind.", Albert Einstein "When I hear a man preach, Ilike to see him act as if he were fighting beas.", Abraham Lincoln
"It was the experience of mystery - even if mixed with fear - that engendered religion.",Albert Einstein
Just belive in your religion. You are a Hindu be proud and learn your religion inside out from shastras. People say many things and don't belive any other thingh other than Bhaghavath Gita.
Respect and be proud that you are Hindu and India.
Worship your own, Respect All.
Jai Sri Krishnu, the supreme Lord of All Demi Gods.
After the basic lines, the verse is "Andha koop maha bhayan, nanak paar utara." meaning the dark blind well (symbolic of death) is very frightening, nanak prays that deliver me across.the 1st verse is prananath anathpatye, deen dard nivar. hey samrath agamye puran (all powerful, agamye - one who came first, puran - ever complete) .hope this helps, hare krishna.
all of you gone mad.......................tumhe sirf bahana chaiye tha asal mein tum sab maya se is had tak control ho chuke ho tum god se pyar karna bhi bhul gaye
@ravneetsh wooooooooooooooooooww hat off to your comments my friend...only if all of us can think like yours..we will have no issues in this beautiful world...ineed there si one God and we call him/her different names...reminds me mOhd Rafisabs song:tu hindu banega na musalman banega..insan ki aulad hein insan banega..wow..God bless u all
@ravneetsh Wish things were so simple. Eastern religions are inclusive in nature but not abhrahamic religion. What someone will do if it is written in religion to exclude everybody who does not belong to his religion. Not only that, if it advocate to kill anybody who does not belong to his religion. Its not about literacy, its about the inherent philosophy. Many people from particular religion are violent because they are doing duty to achieve heaven as written in their scriptures
@damanattwal no, guru granth sahib mentions and devotes chapters to krishna and even raja ram chandar ji, why are sikh ppl so obvlivious to the teachings and readings.sikh religion has turned into something that its not.....run by jatt caste ppl when in actuality they only make up about 20-30 percent of the religion the rest are all low caste. 90 percent of sikh ppl believe in caste and that is a contridiction because guru granth sahib teaches equality. period. no religion is bad, people are
@damanattwal See Guru Garanth Sahib has come in exsistance just 300yrs ago & Shri Krishna from very first day when nothing was there & he is the only god nothing else..
@damanattwal You don't have monopoly over interpretation of the scripture. The same accusation can be made in the opposite direction too, and it would be equally self-defeating. Activity and reflection is an integral part of religion, and has been conspiciously so in Indian religions. Diversity in religious thought is to be respected. Otherwise some ignorant fool could also accuse the Sikh Gurus of offending hindu religion by what he might call "denying the reality of Hindu gods".
dear, u r not a god or any suprem authority. u shouldn't be criticizing something. it will give nothing but pain. destroying something or criticizing something is the easiest job than creating something.
in order to criticizing something religious, u must have to achieve spiritual growth as Sri Nanakji or Kabir did!
if u were there, u shouldn't be doing what u doing. u clearly failing the philosophy of Guru Nanak. i dont mean to offend u but it worthless to fight over bhajan in 21st century!
if u want to respect eachothers religion. use a hindu bhajan and not Guru Mharjaas Bani. Gurbani is praise of Nirankaar the Formless Lord. not krishna
hey dear simonsandhar, This gurbani or bhajan are not limited to any religion, region or person. Its for all who ever recites this is enlightened by bliss of Almighty. and its said " It do not matter which path you take all path's leads to me" Shri Krishna and i am sure same is said my guru maharaj ji through this verses. JAI SHRI KRISHNA,JAI GURU MAHARAJ "Hey Govind Hey Gopal"
there is only one god who is Creator & distroyer himself. others are just his forms. But my friend this shabad was sung by 5th Guru Guru Arjun Dev ji just for that Almighty One God and not for Krishna (king of Mathura). RAM, SHIV, GOVIND, GOPAL,NARAYAN,etc are all names given to that one almighty God. Sikhism is religion which deals directly with that almighty God Rather then Devees & Devtaas. kindly think beyond your mind.
Its a matter of faith one may believe in any of the god but if he is a real beliver he will have wisdom to respect others and not to comment on others faith.
So Amar I think you need to think beyond your mind and respect your own culture which teaches you to respect other religion.
@weirdindia Gurfateh! I don't wanna to do any offense or disrespect any of your belief... but if you say Krishna is the supreme lord then, how about Rama and Shiva..? As hindu mythology too believe that God is one then why so confusion in between..?
I would like to tell what Guru Granth Sahib ji says...
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ਹੋਰਿ ਕੇਤੇ ਰਾਮ ਰਵਾਲ ॥
O Nanak, the Lord is fearless and formless; myriads of others, like Rama, are mere dust before Him. Ang-464
@prabhleensin You are brother, All they forms you said above rama, krishna all all the form of one god the god with no shape and size and color,In hinduism its written in vedas that God has no shape its endless.Krishna and rama were mentioned as their incarnation as to come down in earth and give light and hope to people who were not going righteous path. I beleive in sanatan dharma which is named nowdays as hinduism but it main purpose was to beleive in supreme lord which dont have any shape
@weirdindia Gurfateh! I don't wanna to do any offense or disrespect any of your belief... but if you say Krishna is the supreme lord then, how about Rama and Shiva..? As hindu mythology too believe that God is one then why so confusion in between..?

Guru Maaraj ki jay, i respect as Great Guru Nanak Shah, but in Gurbani he praised for Lord named "hari, Prabhu, Meet, Sakha, he used thousands times 'hari / har;. When he taking the Hari Name and Krishna is Avtaar of Vishnu.
The lyrics of this song is far before the sikh belief even excisted, so you now know where the lines of guru granth sahib are from, maybe he was a devotee of the lord himself just like jesus or budhha
Let me clear your ignorance demanttwal....Gopal and Govind are name of Lord Krishna that is referred in this Devotional song...Krishna was god Nanak believed in...If you do not know know now accept this truth and don't make a fool of yourself in future
@SP197310 Gurfateh!! Well that was a bit hatred..i think all of our mission is to attain a great spiritual status and feel ecstasy... I would like to tell you that we Sikh try to make Guru Nanak our beloved and hence then try to feel the God's ecstasy...and i too feel hindus too do... So in short Guru Nanak Dev ji didn't pleased Krishna or Rama but God (supreme being) and so as Krishna ji and Rama ji did..
So instead of fighting and creating fake stories.. and just sing the praises of ONE GOD.
jai shri krishna,Jai Guru nanak, god of gods, pls give courage to all of us so that we can achieve our final destination that your abode above(heaven) and get liberated from sufferings.
"Hare krishna Hare krishna ,krishna krishna hare hare,Hare Rama Hare rama ,Rama Rama hare hare", Jai wahe Guru

If you think Krishna is the gopal and gobind being talked about in this shabd , then please know :
केते पवण पाणी वैसंतर केते कान महेस ॥
So many winds, waters and fires; so many Krishnas and Shivas.
( Guru Granth Sahib : 7)
क्रिसनु बलभद्रु गुर पग लगि धिआवै ॥
Even Krishna and Balbhadar meditated on the Lord, falling at the Guru's Feet.

when my mum was young it was common for the eldest to be sick and rest to be hindu.

Gopal -> Gopal means nourisher of world .
sarabification 1 year ago
@weirdindia
Meaning of all sanskrit names for god is lost . Unfortunately , that is why , for hindus ,
"Ram" only means ramchandra of ayodhya .
"krishna" , "gopal" , "gobind" means krishna of mathura ,
like that ..........
hari means "one who takes away " ( har means taking away ) .
God is one who creates and takes away .

Respect and be proud that you are Hindu and India.

Why do people cry on the basis of religion.
There is one God,
He is called by different names by his lovers in affection.
And he also takes a visible form - like to save Prahalad he came and it is mentioned in Gurbani and also at other places.
Sri Ram,Gobind, Sri Krishn,Waheguru,Allah are all same.
The fight between people because of different names is idiotic and they are simply illiterate.

@damanattwal See Guru Garanth Sahib has come in exsistance just 300yrs ago & Shri Krishna from very first day when nothing was there & he is the only god nothing else..
vishalsharmaize 1 year ago
@damanattwal You don't have monopoly over interpretation of the scripture. The same accusation can be made in the opposite direction too, and it would be equally self-defeating. Activity and reflection is an integral part of religion, and has been conspiciously so in Indian religions. Diversity in religious thought is to be respected. Otherwise some ignorant fool could also accuse the Sikh Gurus of offending hindu religion by what he might call "denying the reality of Hindu gods".
amitsondhi333 1 year ago
dear, u r not a god or any suprem authority. u shouldn't be criticizing something. it will give nothing but pain. destroying something or criticizing something is the easiest job than creating something.
in order to criticizing something religious, u must have to achieve spiritual growth as Sri Nanakji or Kabir did!
if u were there, u shouldn't be doing what u doing. u clearly failing the philosophy of Guru Nanak. i dont mean to offend u but it worthless to fight over bhajan in 21st century!

hey dear simonsandhar, This gurbani or bhajan are not limited to any religion, region or person. Its for all who ever recites this is enlightened by bliss of Almighty. and its said " It do not matter which path you take all path's leads to me" Shri Krishna and i am sure same is said my guru maharaj ji through this verses. JAI SHRI KRISHNA,JAI GURU MAHARAJ "Hey Govind Hey Gopal"
akhilghore 2 years ago
there is only one god who is Creator & distroyer himself. others are just his forms. But my friend this shabad was sung by 5th Guru Guru Arjun Dev ji just for that Almighty One God and not for Krishna (king of Mathura). RAM, SHIV, GOVIND, GOPAL,NARAYAN,etc are all names given to that one almighty God. Sikhism is religion which deals directly with that almighty God Rather then Devees & Devtaas. kindly think beyond your mind.
thank you
AmarGurdaspuria 2 years ago
Its a matter of faith one may believe in any of the god but if he is a real beliver he will have wisdom to respect others and not to comment on others faith.
So Amar I think you need to think beyond your mind and respect your own culture which teaches you to respect other religion.
Jai Shri Ram ...........

Ang-464
So...this shabad is written for Lord GOD..!!
prabhleensin 11 months ago
@prabhleensin You are brother, All they forms you said above rama, krishna all all the form of one god the god with no shape and size and color,In hinduism its written in vedas that God has no shape its endless.Krishna and rama were mentioned as their incarnation as to come down in earth and give light and hope to people who were not going righteous path. I beleive in sanatan dharma which is named nowdays as hinduism but it main purpose was to beleive in supreme lord which dont have any shape

@damanattwal: the religions of the world to be the various, culturally influenced “masks” of the same fundamental, transcendent truths. "campbell"
Truth is one, the sages speak of it by many names."—which is a translation of the Rig Vedic saying, "Ekam Sat Vipra Bahuda Vadanthi."
if u can digest this, u will not achieve religious or spiritual growth, regardless religion u follow.
rather than writing hateful stuff, try to be human being and listen this music as should be.
sunjava04 1 year ago
@damanattwal
The lyrics of this song is far before the sikh belief even excisted, so you now know where the lines of guru granth sahib are from, maybe he was a devotee of the lord himself just like jesus or budhha
Proluca123 1 year ago
Let me clear your ignorance demanttwal....Gopal and Govind are name of Lord Krishna that is referred in this Devotional song...Krishna was god Nanak believed in...If you do not know know now accept this truth and don't make a fool of yourself in future
SP197310 11 months ago
@SP197310 Gurfateh!! Well that was a bit hatred..i think all of our mission is to attain a great spiritual status and feel ecstasy... I would like to tell you that we Sikh try to make Guru Nanak our beloved and hence then try to feel the God's ecstasy...and i too feel hindus too do... So in short Guru Nanak Dev ji didn't pleased Krishna or Rama but God (supreme being) and so as Krishna ji and Rama ji did..
So instead of fighting and creating fake stories.. and just sing the praises of ONE GOD.
