Harry I saw you play in the high achievers concert last December at the m. centre chapel in chch, I am completely blown away and amazed at your talent. I am a piano teacher - I expect and hope to see much much more of you in the future- we need a pianist of your calibre here in CHCh. Please when you go to study overseas please, please return to play here for us......you play with such joy - you are a credit to the piano and to NZ>
this is genius. i stubled upon this video accidentally while looking for something else, and i am absolutely in love with this song. i bought the sheet music because of how much i loved this video and im trying to learn it, but i have a feeling i will never be able to play it as good as you. this video is very inspiring. this song is an incredible work of art, and to be played so well by someone your age is amazing. you are extremely talented. keep is up and thank you for sharing!
this needs more emotion and rubato!!! and in the beginning the right hand chords need to be way quieter - almost whispery. i love this piece. you're getting there.
high Ab. Where the octave passage goes to 16th notes and then to 16th triplets, and then to something like 32nd or 64ths, it works better to start that passage out a little slower, and you achieve a more effective accelerado. If you can relax your wrists, you will be flying by the time you get to the end of that octave passage. It will also be more effective because it will go from the speed of light to stopped mid-air. Make sure you take your time on that rolled chord. You've done a nice job!
Nooo.... No one who plays that well at that age is "just a kid." I would think, seeing how hard he has worked, that he would not want to be written of as "just a kid," either. However, based on your response, I would assume you are not a musician, being as you do not understand the manner in which musicians share their thoughts and suggestions, so as to constantly attain a higher level of excellence.
i'm a musician but i don't like breaking the balls of my sons trying to teach music to them, if they really like music in some moment of their lifes they will call me for help, pressing them it's really really pathethic because all the people have different dreams and interests.....

erm... a little too many unnecessary movements...
The playing was pretty good, but you don't need to move your arms and head around so much, because a lot of it didn't even fit in with the music.
And if you're not playing a bunch of accented notes that are far away across the keyboard (or something like that, anyway), you don't REALLY need to lift your arms up above your head in the middle of the piece... if you catch my drift. :D
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. There's too much "violent" motion. I realize you're pretty young, so those octaves will get easier when your hands are bigger, but try to relax your wrists more - starting at the oscillating octaves - and think of those passages as one flowing idea, instead of just octaves exchanged between hands. Whiteside technique that might help you with this as well. Also, the chord at the top of that passage (2:13) is easier if you then cross the left over to get the
melody. The technical passages were generally fine - Again watch that the sound always has character and dosent become just noise which is hard for the listener to understand...It takes time to acquire this - keep working - you will achieve it!
You are obviously very fond of this beautiful piece.. Can I suggest you pay more attention to the balance of the hands particularly that the oscilating Doubled notes are made more transparent so we can hear the beautiful medlody. Always follow the melody to its conclusion - a couple of times you had little tiny holes where a note didnt sound enough to be convinvingly the
wow i love your passion. you can tell that the emotion you feel while playing is expressed in your piece. Well done and i hope you use that talented to your advantage as you progress
I'm depressed. I play this same piece (and that Shostakovich one) and I'm 23 yr old... (well i've played the piano only for 8 years now and I mainly play the violin but anyway. U're a kid u should play much much easier pieces...
No, honestly U play well. I'm impressed, not depressed. ;)
hmmm I havent ever played piano but I'm listening music 24/7 and u play really well... but put more emotion in that play then u will be almost perfect :D I know this like my own pockets btw:D
Thank you for your kind comments. I am an 11 year old student of Mr N. Baird. I live in Christchurch, New Zealand. like your students I owe much of any skills I have gained to his patience. I also play the violin reasonably well but I would like to specialise in piano if I am able. I have not done a lot of competitions yet but I am traveling to Sydney in August to compete in the Sydney Performing Arts Challenge.
Think about come to Brazil, Ellerm. it should be wonderful thing to have you here, consider this possibility. I live in the capital and I am sure I could arrange accomodations and a recital in a good auditorium & newspaper reviews. Think about it...
This is how it's done ladies and gents.

Dear Ellerm,
Thank you for your nice response. LOL, my name is different, my grandfather came from Lebanon to Brazil.
So nice to see that even being a child you show grateful to the patience of your piano teacher, gratitude is a virtue in life.
Good lucky in the Sydney Performing Arts Challenge. You will do a great job.
Ellerm, do you have more videos of yours?
Would you send the ones you have? I would love to have them to show to my pupils.
